Alligatorob's Diary

That must've been a huge cucumber :D Glad you had a better day and hope you sleep wonderfully.

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good tonight. Did a little over 2 hours in the gym and felt surprisingly good afterwards.

Yes, LaMa I do eat some pretty big cucumbers, they help keep me feeling full without many calories.

Today was not a bad day, I ate well and got in some good exercise. Over 2 hours at the gym, and I feel pretty good tonight. Only thing I worry about is pushing my calories, I am right at my limit and I saw something Err said about how most people underestimate or count calories by 200 to 400 per day. I am probably guilty of that, I try but am not perfect. Just hoping to be close enough...

I hope you're guilty of underestimating! If you are that means you're pretty much eating a "normal" amount again.

A good day, I ate well, got a little exercise and feel good tonight. Exercise was limited to about 30 min of PT stuff, but still some. I am working on the honest calorie counting thing. The only one I think I may have missed today is the hot sauce I put on lunch. The bottle says 0 calories, but I am skeptical, I use a lot more than a typical serving... On Sparkpeople I found something that said it is 6 calories per ounce. So even if I ate a cup it would only have been about 50 missed calories. I may start measuring hot sauce and doing a better count.

Thanks LaMa, thinking about it the myfitnesspal app tells me I should still be losing weight but I'm not. Maybe another way of saying what you did. If after getting an honest count I start losing weight I will up the calories, but the last week I have gained a little, no risk right now...

:D A cup of hot sauce sounds painful. Counting everything - when your counting at all - seems sensible. Maybe after a while you can set up a calorie buffer for the amount of low-cal foods you normally eat and just weigh the more calorie dense foods but for now certainty seems to be your friend.

A decent day, I went a few calories over my 1,750 goal, but not because I ate more. I just did a more diligent tracking of calories, just the extra calories I counted from the hot sauce was enough to put me over. So I am ok with it, being calorie accurate is more important than the numeric goal, what matters is what you eat, not what you log. Got a little exercise, mostly PT shoulder things.

I measured and I did eat a cup of hot sauce with lunch, and counted it as 59 calories. Those are calories I would have missed before, as I said the label says zero, but I know that is for a pretty small portion. I have no problem with hot sauce, I use it a bit like tomato sauce, but may do less now that I know how many calories it has. Probably worse is the sodium...

A good day, I ate well, exercised and feel pretty good tonight. Came up a bit short on calories, but I just don't want to anything more now. I mixed some easier PT exercise with some more vigorous workout today. Tomorrow its back to the gym.

I think I am doing a better job of counting all my calories. Also switched to raw hot peppers rather than the sauce, about the same hotness and calories, but a lot less sodium.

Being a bit short sometimes because you're not hungry is fine - it balances out the days when you go over a little. Sounds like a good day!

Today was a good day, I ate well and exercised well. I am trying a new logging thing, it is something the nutritionist I am going to see Thursday put me into. Problem is I don't see how to download a copy. So I copied and pasted a summary below. I have been having trouble with logging on myfitnesspal lately so maybe I will just change over. We'll see how it goes.

I did want to eat much of yesterday but managed to hold off until late, too late to want to make up the calorie deficit. Did a bit better today. Though my sodium was higher than I would have liked...

A good day, ate well got a little exercise and I feel good tonight. Did better on sodium today. This new calorie counting app I am using seems to show fewer calories, but maybe I am paying more attention. Who knows.

Thanks Natalya, I am finding not eating as much for my late snack is making going to sleep a bit easier. Not that I really have much trouble, sleeping is pretty easy for me.

Either is possible of course. In the end the number doesn't really matter as long as you're consistent. If this app shows you eating 10% fewer calories and your weight is still stable on those calories... the end result is the same even if the number doesn't sound as nice.

Another good day, ate well, got 2 hours in at the gym, and feel good tonight. I did go over my sodium goal, will try to work on that. My sleep was not great last night, but it did not seem to effect me today. I usually sleep well, hopefully will tonight. Nutritionist appointment tomorrow afternoon!
In the end the number doesn't really matter as long as you're consistent.
You are right of course, but as I get used to it I seem to be getting better counts. I think the agreement is getting better. Just wish I could figure out how to download a more meaningful summary to post here. Will ask the nutritionist about it tommorrow.

I've learned some really helpful things over the past couple of pages of your diary, thanks to everyone for sharing :)

What sorts of exercise do you do at the gym?
