Amy, I imagine there are other crabs in the world that are harvested in the same way. Any bottom dwelling crab that has large pincers and a small body would be a candidate. When I was in the Philippines I saw crabs in a market that looked a lot like stone crabs, but they were whole, not just the claws.
It was a good enough day, I craved food a lot, but didn't come close to overeating. I suppose I will be fighting those cravings a long time, some days are better than others.
We leave early tomorrow morning for Oregon, we'll be gone until Thursday. I will try to stay on diet as much as possible, and to log in and post when I can. We will be with my brother and his family, its likely to be a big nonstop party, so there will be lots to resist.

In 1295 Marco Polo returned from his 24 year trip to China (makes my Oregon trip seem pretty trivial). Marco was not the first European to travel to China, there were Roman Embassies in China more than 1,000 years earlier, but he was the first to write a book about it. There is little doubt he wrote the book, its less clear that he actually made the trip. He is also the namesake of my grandkids favorite swimming pool game.
