ABBAgirl's Diary

Happy Friday. I went for my weigh in, and was okay with the fact that I have neither lost nor gained one single ounce over the holidays. This means I am still sitting at 176 lbs, and my goal remains 155 lbs.

I can't really think of what else I can do to beat this plateau, other than stick with my dedication to exercise (spending at least one hour on the treadmill at a good clip, fully sweating, on a steep incline at least 5 days per week). Also, I am back to writing down my food, as per the WW programme. I am supposed to be eating no more than 22 points per day, plus a bonus of 35 pts per week, which I can break down into an extra 5 per day I guess. Today I have eaten 23 points, but I also had some egg nog in my coffee, so I believe that will take me up to my total for the day. I have not been on treadmill yet today due to feeling so yucky with my cold, but have taken some meds and now am feeling ready to tackle "the mill".

I am glad I went to a WW meeting today. I feel like I am starting fresh in this new year, and am still so tickled to have lost 35 lbs last year! 2008 is full of promise for me - and for you, too :cheers2:

Hi Janice

I am sorry that you have succumbed to the germs.

Many, many people would strongly envy someone who had not put on and ounce over the Christmas holidays. You have done very well. I imagine that some of your WW group fell into the category of people who's weight is up!

I know that as you continue being strict with your diet and exercise - your weight will eventually come down from the plateau. I hated the plateau that I hit in September and I changed things around based on some plateau breaking ideas on a thread on this forum. Since you are continuing to lose inches I can only think that you are making muscle. The main thing is that your body shape is becoming nearer to that of your aspiration.

I can only dream of being just 21 pounds away from my target weight. I will consider myself lucky if I am in that position in three month's time.

Well done for sticking to your diet and doing all your exercise despite being full of germs.

Take care
Love

Hiya

All these points your burning on the treadmill are you taking them off your points eaten? just a thought
I think if you write everyting down for 2 full weeks and still havent lost anything go to your ww consultant and ask them for help
I know in slimming world they have a special diet for 1 week that you must really follow it, its really strict and they only give it out for people like you who have got a bit stuck maybe ww have something similar???

New year sounded great thats my sort of thing stay in watch tv its ideal and stay away fromm all those people with the bugs who insist on going out

Hi All
So I've already done my 1.5 hours on the 'mill today. Feels so good! Situps and pushups, too, of course. Sometimes it is almost hard to stop, but obviously with a family I have other obligations!

The littles are excited as I have told them we will go check out a new skating rink tonight. We are meeting another Mom and her 2 girls there, so hopefully it will be fun. We have to rent skates, as we have none (how UN-Canadian!

I would like to get our family doing at least one activity together per week this new year, something physical. Our town is not quite big enough to offer all that I'd like, but we still have options. It looks like we can choose from swimming, skating, bowling, squash/racquetball. If we were made of money, we would all sign up for martial arts as a family, but we don't quite have that kind of cash! However, I may sign myself up for a Tai Chi course. We'll see. Hard to figure out my timetable.

Hope you are all well; sun is finally shining here!

cheers and happy losing!

Hi Janice

Well done with the exercise.

Have fun skating. I am sure that you will all have a great time. It's a brilliant idea doing a form of exercise / activity as a family.

Take care

:seeya: Happy Sunday! It has been a relaxed and lazy day. I took some STRONG cold medicine which knocked me out for a good couple of hours, made me feel much better. Then Mom and I watched the finale of Biggest Loser (I know, a couple of weeks late!) and now I am ready to tackle the 'mill for today. I will only stay on it for an hour tonight, as then I have to get the littles ready for bed and finally back to school tomorrow! Phew! Not a moment too soon, either :rolleyes:It will be great to get back to a more regular schedule!

All for now, hoping that the scale will be my friend this week. I remain committed to LOSING IT!!!

Cheers

Good morning, all.
Wow, my workout last night was STELLAR! I usually just switch off with fast walking on the incline and sit/push ups, but last night I decided I would also do some running during commercials. Running on a steep incline!!! It was CRAZY - and it felt sooooooooooooo good! :biggrinjester: I will do the same today. I cannot believe how sweat-inducing it was, and it made such a difference as far as endorphins go in my brain!

I can't go to work until this afternoon, so will do some cleaning & watch a show with DH before I work out today. Ironically, I am having actually a very good hair day :troll:, which is rare - but it will only last until my workout! *sigh*

All for now, more later
J:waving:

Great job on all the exercise you have been doing, I'm so very happy to read all about it!!!

Your probably melting those pounds away too. GREAT JOB!! Keep up the momentum, it's great to see!

HAPPY TUESDAY! Been a good one so far. I worked 4 hours, then came home and hit the 'mill for over an hour. I just cannot get over how charged up I am when I incorporate the running with the walking! I will slowly try and increase my time running. Today I also did 105 sit ups and 50 push ups (ok, 1/2 push-ups, the girlie-girl kind!)

I am hopeful that I may actually see a loss at weigh in on Friday, even though the dang scale has not moved in quite some time. But I will take no move better than moving in the wrong direction! I do feel good about how I look, and love the extra energy I seem to have, even with my evil cold. :banghead:

Hope you are all well, striving to reach those goals!

Cheers
Janice
Enjoy the journey! :auto:

Hi Janice

With all that running - I am absolutely convinced that you are going to break through that plateau this time. It is great that the exercise is making you feel so full of energy. I sometimes get so that I feel absolutely bursting with energy - I just want to jump up and dance or go out and walk. It is such a good feeling.

Take care

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I am just home from a 5 hour shift, and ready to hop on the 'mill for a good hour or so. I never would have thought that I would look forward to sweating on a treadmill, and don't know if I actually would like it if the telly weren't directly in front of it! ;)

MARGARET:
Thanks for cheering me on, I do hope to see a loss at weigh in this week. Of course my own scale showed 174 this morning, but that has happened before. If only I could weigh my morning weight for the whole day! Funny how it fluctuates.

Okay, I am off and running :waving:

:driving: Oh yeah! Put in a good 1.5 hours on the 'mill, with quite a bit of running. Feels good! Hope it pays off on the scale.

cheers
Janice

Janice- nice job on the treadmill. I still can't get myself to go on one.. i hate the thing and love working out on the elliptical.. haha i can easily do 1.5 hours on one.. anyways hope the scale works with you instead of against you.

Hi Maverick and Heather! Thanks for stopping by! Today I did another 1.5 hours on the 'mill, nearly drowning in a sea of sweat. LOL I have learned that I must have a towel near by! And the tv shows must be good enough to keep my interest.

HEATHER: I wonder how an elliptical compares with a treadmill for calorie burn? I'd be curious to find out! How are things going now that you guys are all settled in and used to having DH home? Are his annoying habits driving you batty yet? :smash:Aaah, the joys of married life!

Tomorrow I go for weigh in. Yesterday my home scale said 174, today it said 172. However, the WW scale has said 176 for 1.5 months, and I will be very shocked if it shows any different tomorrow. Ahem...shocked, but delighted, I assure you! I'll letcha know.

Cheers
Janice

I will pop in later to see how the weigh in went

 I BROKE THROUGH MY PLATEAU, PEOPLE!!!!

OH YEAH! OH YEAH! Feelin' goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood to be down 2.2 pounds, F*I*N*A*L*L*Y!!! For anyone who was keeping track, it had to be around 6 weeks I was totally stuck! :cuss:

So this morning I got up early and got on that dang 'mill for half an hour, just leaving me enough time to shower and get to my WW meeting! I am very pleased to say that all of my hard workouts and continuing to watch my food intake has finally paid off again, and once more the scale is my friend! :sifone:

So for anyone else who is (or will be) miserably stuck on an evil plateau, I urge you to be patient and not lose heart. Change up your exercise routine, keep watching what you eat, and eventually you'll see a loss again!

I hope that you will also have many wonderful cyber pals who make it their duty to encourage and support you!
THANKS, EVERYONE!!!
:biggrinjester:

Now for a yummy, healthy lunch and then off to work for a few hours. Happy Friday!

Hi Janice

I am so pleased that you are through that horrible plateau. I hated the one that I had in September.

Congratulations!

2.2 pounds is brilliant!:party::party::party:

NO PLATEAU HERE!

I am a firm believer in doing some walking before weighing. I take my daily weight as the one after my morning long walk. It regularly is less than the weighing before the walk. I often weigh before as well if there is a risk that I will eat or drink while I am out.

Take care

Margaret

Aaaw, shucks! Thanks, Margaret! :grouphug: I have been on somewhat of a "high" all day after finally breaking through the evil plateau. I am, of course, a little nervous that next week will not show a loss again, but I will not complain if I can basically get things evened out to about 1 lb per week. Mind you, I also won't complain if I can lose more than 1 lb in a week! :biggrinjester:

I did actually do a mini workout prior to going for my weigh in this morning; perhaps I will make a habit of that. I have likewise found that I weigh less after a workout - and if you saw how much I sweat on that 'mill, you would not doubt it!!! :svengo:

Well, it is midnight here, well past my bedtime. Today we are finally meeting our newest 2 band members and having our first practice, which should be fun and exciting! After that I will do a nice, big workout...followed by a nice, long bubble bath! Sounds like a lovely day ahead.

Cheers
