I got started lifting seriously when i was training to improve my lineout lifts for Rugby, and i have always been attracted to unusual non mainstream sports. I had spent time lifting previously but it was usually only when training for other sports. at that time I had moved states and needed another sport to do in the Rugby off season.
I had heard of powerlifting but had never seen it and never met anybody who did it, so i done some research, joined a federation and wen't to my first competition a full days train ride away where i knew no one and without my own support base. I won not only my division but also best female lifter, I have been hooked ever since

i learned a lot and discovered unlike many other sports the competitors are friendly and helpfull, cheering you on and happy to give tips to improve form and training. I picked up some good information from a world record holder in the deadlift at the last state titles.
Today my thumb is extreeeemy sore, I cant use my right hand and my usual training is out the window, I will get in some time on the wii if i can secure my hand enough so it doesnt move or bump anything. I have to go and see the doc again tomorrow, I have fingers crossed that it is not broken but the loud snapping noise when i injured it is not encouraging as i bent the thumb backwards untill the thumbnail toiched my wrist.
I wasnt even lifting at the time, i was removing a tight squat suit

which i was wearing for the first time as i usually squat RAW.
