A new chapter begins

Hey there!
Thanks for stopping by my thread. :)
I am so with you on the whole running in heat thing... I managed as far as I did today only because it rained and cooled down a bit! It's in the 80s/90s here...
What is OHR? I'm not familiar with the term. 10K is maybe my favorite distance! I don't have any specific races in mind at the moment, and I definitely don't know of any in New York (I'm in the midwest).
Oh, and I am also with you on not wanting to be so focused on the weight numbers and such. That's why I put my ticker in kilograms, actually! I programmed my scale into kgs as well. It makes it easier for me because I can't compare and think, "Oh, last time I dieted I lost 7 pounds in a week, why didn't I do the same this time?" or whatever, as long as I don't do the conversions in my head. :D I'm not quite as familiar with metrics as I am pounds, so the number affects me less, for some reason.

Hey Juni,

Good job on your running! Running seems like fun and such a good total body workout and I've always wanted to do it but always chicken out and end up speed walking. Was it hard to get into for you? I hope your day is going well, keep up the good work.

Hey, Juni, just stopping by to check on you. Hey, when you rant, you just remember, this is your diary and you can do whatever you want and makes you feel better. You don't have to apologize for anything. Shucks, you've read my rants! Lol! i hope the day is going well for you, and keep up that awesome running!

I have decided to change my ticker and my goals. I am going to have mini goals that I give to myself. I need to be honest and 100 percent about this. Doing it in kgs is a good idea. I should think about this weightloss thing in kgs too. After all that is what is used in these parts of the world anyway.

I hope you are well, hanabi. I am checking out your journal next.

Hi Janvier, great to hear from you again.

I never in my life thought I would run like I do today- 30 mins, 45 mins....but one great thing about your bodies are very very adaptable. I think they kinda like that I am running, and has been happy with me so far. I did it very slowly and in nine weeks I have been able to run 30 mins. You will totally rock running, since you are sooo good at working out and have great stamina. Try it.

Thanks njoyabl. Good to know that my rants are not being taken otherwise. I just don't want to keep complaining, you know? Especially when I feel I have nothing to show for it. But it feels so darn good to rant....its quite amazing.

What is the OHR? I've never heard of it. You should definitely sign up for a 10K! You won't even need to train for it. The C25K is what set me up for it all. It's crazy the amount of endurance you build from it!!

OHR is One Hour Runner- tis like c25k but it trains you to run one hour or 8k (thats how much it would come out to be, no?). I am definitely going to sign up for a 10K this fall. I want to work on my time for the next few months. Really need to start doing some kind of resistance training- been reading about it a lot. This month and the month of June is, so I'll just stick to running. July I'll do more strength training. I need to learn basic situps and pushups and crunches....gosh I'm such a novice to all this.

Hello hello everyone,

Happy hump day!

My day wasn't too bad. I think I did quite ok food wise. Here's how it went:

B: 1 cup watermelon, 1 plum, 1/3 mango
S: A piece of toast with some brie cheese and a cup of mint green tea
L: Lentil soup, 1 chappati, cauliflower cooked with some sesame, tomato and coriander
S: handful of homemade cheese cookies, two small pieces of dark chocolate
S#2: 1 cup fresh cherries, 1 plum, 1/3 apple
D: 1 and half cups of chicken biryani, okra in tomoatoes

Chicken biryani threw me off a little bit- I looked up how many calories in biryani and they said 437 in one and half cups. Yikes! I need to be careful. Although, this was homemade biryani, made by someone who is very very conscious about what she eats, so I doubt she used bad oil and stuff. Anyway, good to know that biryani has soo much calories and it is a good thing I had enough calories left. I may have gone over slightly by 100cals but Im gonna burn that off tomorrow at the run.

Ticker changed. I will be so happy when I reach 135lbs. Then I'll think about whether or not I want to be 125 (hahaha!)

Weigh every week on Friday
Next body measurements- 19 June

Thank you for the encouragement Juni, I am so proud of your progress! I am going to really consider trying it, I just need to get over my rear of people watching and I think I will really love running. Keep up the good work, you'll be at 135 in no time at this rate!

Really really tired today. Work was just really busy and then I came home and ran....for.......FORTY EIGHT MINS!! Longest run yet. I feel soooo darn good, but sooo tired. Haven't had the chance to check on how everyone is doing. Will do that tomorrow before work. I have another long day tomorrow, but after tomorrow is the weekend, so who cares.

Was really good foodwise. I am sooooooo happy with today's intake. I have had good food week, and if I could have good food days like today for another week, I am pretty sure I will drop some lbs.

B: One boiled egg and 1/2 apple
S: 1 tomato, 1 cucumber with balsamic
L: Zucchini cooked with some butter, garlic, red pepper and ginger, lentil soup
S: cherries, small piece of watermelon
Prerun snack:1 wholewheat crackers (half with feta cheese the other half with 1tbsp PB)
D: small salad, 1 chicken drumstick (baked), 1 slice of mushroom pizza and one slice of pesto and pine nut pizza (they were both soooo darn yum).
Dessert: 1/2 cup of fresh cherries

Didn't have the urge to have sweets or baked goods today.

The run was amazing...I ran faster today than before. Today was my longer run day. I am thinking I will also start walking on my off days. Walking is not a lot of stress to the body and burns some calories. Let me see if I can incorporate that from next week.

Weigh in tomorrow. Not too hopeful for a drop in weight since Monday, but please everyone keep your fingers crossed.

I'm heading straight to bed now. I will visit your journals tomorrow to check up on how things are.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Have I mentioned yet/enough how happy I am when I am running? I realized, when I was running in the park at 45 degrees today that I am the happiest when I run. Today, was supposed to do 30 mins, but I challenged myself for a longer run (I ran 42 mins last week) and did 48 mins and I am sooooo proud of myself. I just love love love love running. Hee......

awesome, I am also quite happy, but be careful, one day you might wake up,
and just like Forrest Gump, will just keep running and running and running, and
we will all be wondering where is juni?...lol :)

It's so great that you found an Exercise that you enjoye so much....that way you will stick with it! I used to feel that way about swimming I could swim laps for a long time....I miss it!!! You have had a great week so you could definitely see a lose. The month of June is ours to conquer lol!!!

Wow, that's great that you love running so much! It is really relaxing and fun for me too.
Walking is also a great idea for your off days!
Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow!!! I'm pretty sure you'll see some nice loss, since it sounds like you've done so well. :)

Hey Juni - wow I had 2 pages to catch up on and you are doing great! I need to get out and do more runnnig - the way to talk about it reminds me how much I miss it. I was going to go for a run outside this morning before work but was afraid it would be too chilly and when I was sweating on the treadmill I realized it wouldn't have been that bad and I should have just done it - oh well there is always tomorrow and the next day and next week!!
Your food plans look really good too - not as boring as mine.
How'd the weigh-in go this morning? Mine wasn't good but that just means I will work harder for it next week!!
Have a great weekend - it was great to finally catch up with you!!

I went walking today (my day off from running) today, Hanabi and it was great. I am definitely going to make walking my off day exercise for a while now.

Lisa, you should definitely go back to running. I never thought I would love running so much. On my days off, I actually miss it. Sometimes I really wanna go out and just run even in my off days, but I can't injure myself so i also give it plenty of rest. But you would totally rock running if you went back to it again.

So I did go for my weigh-in today early in the morning and it said...........

I41.8- that's almost 3lbs loss these last few days. Now I am going to VERRRRY closely monitor what goes in my mouth. Have also upped my exercise. Gonna have a strong week coming week.

FRI

B: Cheerios and milk
S: Apple
L: 1 slice no cheese pizza, 1 slice cheese pizza (leftovers from last night)- they were both homemade and really really yummy.
S: a Popsicle and a bite of chocolate (was too sweet afer a bite so threw it away)
D: 1 cup lamb curry (homemade), 1 cup rice and some cooked cauliflower
Dessert: a piece of 60 percent dark chocolate
Was craving some juice so instead made some peach smoothie with banana and no added sugar organe juice and some honey (was soo yum).

I am sooooooo gonna have a healthy weekend this week. Tomorrow basically I need to figure out what I want to take and what I want to leave behind when I leave the country. So lots of spring cleaning. So gonna be a homebody. Gonna make healthy lunch tomorrow at home. I've been invited to a dinner tomorrow, so I'll have a couple of glasses of wine and choose very wisely what I eat. I will go for a 30 min run tomorrow before dinner. Btw, after the run tomorrow, I graduate from c25k. Wooot! :)

Sunday, I will be out shopping for veggies, fruits etc. That will be about 90 mins. May meet with some friends for coffee, but gonna eat at home mostly, so hopefully i won't make bad choices.

Have a wonderful wonderful weekend everyone!
