A new chapter begins

Hey Juni,
sucks about those meetings! If I am tired and have to listen to a boring presentation - I always end up doing the head nods where I just about fall asleep and then jump awake. Your eating looks really good considering you are travelling. The week is coming close to being over - you've made is this far and sticking to your healthy eating so congrats and keep it up just a little bit longer! Have a good nights sleep!

Hey Juni,

I haven't checked up on you in a little while but you seem to be doing great! Good job on eating healthy while travelling, that is the hardest thing for me, just the slightest distance from home for me equals disaster so good for you. I hope the rest of the week goes by a little faster for you, I hate being stuck in meetings too, I'm like Lisa and end up just doing those head nods for the whole thing. Lack of sleep and boring meetings are a bad combination. Keep up the good work!

Hey Juni

Fear not there are still people on here!!! Right now I am supposed to be working but i like to long on here around this time cause I used to have break but when the ass came in charge of my department he cut those, so I am sitting at my desk pretending to be working!! Sort a like passing out with my eyes open!!! Your menu still look good! I hate when I have to skip a meal cause then even cardboard looks appealing and I eat almost anything in sight and I get so bitchy! I hope your long session comes to an end so you can get moving and get some of your energie back!

Hi Veronique, thanks for your message. Wednesday was especially terrible. I walked out of one of the sessions (faked sickness). Today we were mostly in the field so it was great. I love being out there talking to people. But being out in the field also means that the food is messed up. I don't even wanna go near the scales anymore. But we decided scales are evil, so I should be ok. :)

Hello, thanks for stopping by my diary and for your wonderful support and advice. I am very impressed with your running. I hope to get back into doing that one day. I ran a little track my freshman and sophomore year in high school, and loved it. Your meals sound so yummy! Sorry to hear that you have to go through those miserable meetings, I know what that feels like, and then when it is all over you are wondering, "what really was the point?" or, "weren't we already trained on that?" You'll get through it, hey if for anything its a paycheck. I just had two friends that found jobs and got out of the unemployment line who have been looking for almost a year after being laid off from verizon, so the meetings are so bad when you think of it that way. Keep up the good work and I'll see ya!

No need to thank. I love reading your journal. Sorry I haven't left you a message in a long time. I will be more regular now. I loove running, it feels so nice after a long run. I squeezed in 30 min run (with stretch and brisk walk it came to be about 50 mins) and I felt like a superwoman after my run. You should totally try the couch 2 5k program. Believe me, I couldn't run for more than a minute until just eight weeks ago. The program helps you build stamina slowly and by nine weeks you can run 30 mins or 5k.

Re: the sessions. These particular sessions were especially bad, because I was working like a dog. But I LOVE my job. It is not just a job for me, it is the kind of thing I deeply believe in. I have been very very lucky to have been hired to do the kind of things I do. I guess we all have to sit through these yucky trainings once in a while, eh? The employment situation is really bad everywhere right now, your friends must be relieved to be out of unemployment situation.

I'm gonna pop into your journal now. :)

Thanks Lisa for your support. I drive back home tomorrow (phew!) and I don't need to travel until 8th June :) I have to go away for about two weeks and some of those days I will be in a place where there will be no internet (yikes!) I am looking forward to that round of travel because there will be a lot of travelling, meeting new people, listening to their stories, exchanging ideas- then we go into training, and concludes after a few rounds of meeting. Mid-June I have about six days off, where I plan to do nothing but shop, have sex (lol! hunnie bunnie will here), cook, drink wine, read poetry. :) By then I will also have to start thinking about handing in my resignation and then moving back to the States (so not a lot of time)

The scales are Evil lol Sometimes I wonder why put myself throught this...why not just keep doing what I am doing and see how loose my clothes fit to see my progress but then a min passes and I wonder how much i weight lol! I am finally able to weight in just once a week I don't even do my routine Sunday check I just keep myself in line even on the weekend without the scale, cutting back on evilness lol!! Your eating wasn't soo bad and you did have some workouts in there so it should be ok!!!

Hello everyone

ONE MORE DAY TILL THE WEEKEND. ONE MORE DAY TILL THE WEEKEND. ONE MORE DAY TILL THE WEEKEND. ONE MORE DAY TILL THE WEEKEND.

I feel like I need to repeat it over and over again. :)

First my food log. I couldn't log in yesterday, so I am combining two days together.

WED

B: Watermelon (three big bowls)
S: low fat whole wheat crackers with babaganoush
S2: Two mangos
L: Zucchini with a small chappati
Was in the meeting hall and was craving someethign sweet. I saw a packet of chips ahoy (hate meeting food) and had about 12 of them. BUT something really really strange happened. As soon as I finished eating the cookies I had to run to the bathroom and I threw up everything. I did not deliberately do it, but I just couldn't hold it in my tummy and all the chips came out. It was really strange because I had had a small lunch before that (of zucchini, which didn't come out). Is it possible that my stomach can't stand junky food like this? This hasn't happened before, so I don't know. i felt sick after eating the cookies....STRANGE. I felt perfectly fine afterwards...hmmm
S: some more watermelon
D: rice with grilled chicken, deep friend okra (I only had a couple of spoonfuls), yogurt and I skipped the dessert.

Wed was not a good day. I wanted to run on Wed eve, but that didn't happen. So all in all a really bad day.

THURS

Not that today was any better. Here's my food log for today

B: Watermelon
Then we got on the care to drive on th way I had one small box of orange juice, 1/2 glass of pepsi, another glass of sprite and sweetened tea. The soft drinks and tea I couldn't have avoided because they were offered when we went to people's homes. The way they welcome their guests in these parts of the world is by offering something to drink. But water is so dirty, they know foreigners wont drink it, so they offer soft drinks. If I hadn't had it, they would have really felt insulted. That was kind of unavoidable.
L: 1/2 cup rice with yogurt and one small piece of chicken with 1/3 of chapatti
S: two mangos, low fat whole wheat crackers and some cheese cookies (two)
D: 1 cup pasta with veggies
S: 2 plums and two more cheese cookies.

It has been a terrible terrible few days. But tomorrow is friday, and I am going home first thing in the morning. I get there by midday, so I will take rest of the day off and really re-organize myself, go grocery shopping etc etc.

I had a couple of bad days, but I am in a really postive and cheerful mood.

ONE MORE DAY TILL WEEKEND!!!!!

YEAH ONE MORE DAY TILL THE WEEKEND!!! I totally agree! It's not even that this week has been so bad for me but I'm just so excited to hang out with my sister again and feel really good about sticking to my plan since my hunnie will be gone - for some reason it always motivates me more when he is gone. Like I think he will notice a difference if I'm really good while he is gone or something.
I really don't see anything terrible on your eating plan that would influence a gain so don't sweat it - get lots of water when you get home and after a day of being in line you will be right back at it! Congrats on the running - you have accomplished a lot in such a short time and all because you were consistent and stuck with it! Do the same with your eating and the pounds will fall off! Have a safe trip back tomorrow. Night.

Janvier, thanks for dropping by. The meetings are over and I am heading back home tomorrow. I have been nodding my head a lot for the last few days. I bet my neck is really happy its getting some much-needed exercise. Hope things are well with you.

Once you get back at home and into your routine and get a good run in you will be back to normal!!!! Your eating was still good and you did what you could being away on holiday or work is not easy especially when you are trying to loose weight!

I arrived back home this morning. Apart from the sausages in the morning (for breakfast at the hotel), I have been really good.

B: 1/2 mango, plum, some sausages (they were salty and I have been chugging water like crazy ever since)
S: lowfat crackers with a little bit of cheddar cheese
L: orange juice, smoked chicken sandwich
S: homemade smoothie (peach, mango, banana, orange juice and 1 table spoon of icecream). I was babysitting my collegues' kids today, and they loved it. I put some ice-cream thinking they won't like the taste otherwise, but the fruits were so sweet, I wished I hadn't. I didn't put a lot though...so...
I also had a popsicle with them....
I will probably have a fruit or something before my run (I want to go for a looong run this evening if there's no sun).
Dinner will probably be grilled chicken with brown rice.

I have a busy weekend. I am going to a museum with some close friends, and then we are having lunch. Then coming home, probably running and then I have been invited to dinner at a friend's house. So I want to be good all day tomorrow and splurge a little bit in the evening.

On Sunday Im gonna clean the house, then I'm having some friends over for late lunch and then other friends for dinner. I have a really really busy weekend of cooking and cleaning. LOL! I haven't seen my friends in so long and I miss them. Also, Im gonna have to say goodbye to everyone pretty soon, so I want so spend as much time as possible with the people I like.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Talk to you all on Monday!

Hi Juni!!

It must be so hard to know that you are leaving soon....saying goodbye to friends. With internet today you should still be able to keep in touch ...not the same but at least still in contact right? I hope you get out for a good run! Have fun this weekend!!!

Hey there, okay, your wednesday was Bleh! LOL! I've had that happen to me before, not lately because I think that I haven't been eating all that clean and not getting my exercise, but a few weeks ago, I decided to grab some taco bell. It was good, but as soon as I finished that steak quasidillo, or whatever, it all came back up, and of course after that, I was completely fine. It was nice my body telling me, (Shy, you know better than that, we don't want this pollution)! LOL! Okay, I'll stop the weirdness now. The couch 2 5k program, that is a dvd right? You keep giving me good ideas to try. I hope you have a great weekend with your cooking and friends visiting and such. You already sound excited about it. See ya!

Your weekend sounds fun and I think because you are going to be so busy you will be burning extra calories! Have fun with your friends and have a healthy weekend. Chat with you Tuesday when I return from my long weekend.

It is hard, especially because I have been here for a while and feel like this is my family. But like you said, email/fb/skype should make it easier to communicate. Also, some of my friends will come visit when I go away, and they will themselves be in exotic places that I can visit, so it is all good. :hurray:

Good thing about that binge on Wednesday is that I feel like throwing up every time I think about CC cookies now. Hope it stays that way. :)

Couch 2 5 k program is a running program- not in DVD- just go to google and search on the internet with the name (i would give you the name of th website but I don't think I'm allowed to- searching on google should work though). It is a nine-week program and it tells you how to run (first week starts with one minute of running 90 seconds of walking- you do like eight sets, next week is 90 sec of running and 60 sec of walking and then you increase the time you are running each week). I couldn't run for more than a few mins 9 weeks ago, and now I can run 42 mins and more. It is a great program, try it.

Hope you had an amazing weekend!

My weekend was great. I think I did ok eating (not great), but I had a lot of fun with friends, ate good food, drank good wine, so it is all good. :)

Hope your long weekend is going well. Talk to you on Tuesday!

My weekend was quite good- here's how it went foodwise:

SATURDAY:

B: 3/4 bagle with some Brie cheese and PB
L: sandwich with grilled chicken and cheese with some fries (yikes- i could have not had the fries because i was alredy full from the sandwich). However, I didn't touch any of the deep fried crackers, didn't ask for more fries or put sugar in my iced tea).
S: plums
S: 1 slice of pizza
D: some rice with potato (didn't have th potato), veggies with chicken (very small portion), green salad and yogurt.
Dessert: 1 and a half scoop of chocloate ice-cream- lots of peaches and two plums

What could I have done better on Sat? I could have avoided the fries and ice-cream. But this is all a learning process. I think it is important to realize what you had done wrong and not repeat the same mistake next time.

SUNDAY

B: Omelet with tomatoes, onions and green chillies (yum!)
S: Cherries and plum
L: smoked chicken and cheese sandwich on brown bread roll and arugula salad with mangoes and homemade dressing (this was the best thing ever).
S: plums, apricot
S: one mango before my run
D: 15 veggie dumplings, spicy chicken, peanuts with raw mangoes and lots of garlic, veggie salad (small), two glasses of white wine. Mango ice-cream (two small scoops) with few mango pieces.

What could I have avoided on Sunday- I could have had one scoop of ice-cream instead of two.

I didn't manage a run on Friday or Saturday (it was too hot here), but I got my act together on Sunday, braved the heat and set out for a long run but ended up only dong 30 mins. Didn't feel good about the run this weekend at all, so will go again today after work if it is not too hot. The heat is literally killing me though. Hopefully it'll rain and coold down soon.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Talk to you all soon!
