A goal without a plan is just a wish...

Here we go - it's a new day again, Tuesday, and I'm NOT screwing up!

How'd I forget to write to you this morning? I agree with Alta and it wasn't that bad - not as bad as the cheese cake! And not as bad as 6 chocolate covered granola bars like I do sometimes!! But I know how you feel - been there done that and yes today is a new day and you are not going to screw up!! Get it under control today and tomorrow will be much better! Do an extra 30 min workout and it will be like the night never happened!

Also, what kind of relationship do you have with your roommate? Could you talk to her about your goals and get her on board with you? I'm sure she would love to be supportive and not an enabler... My roommate eats McDonalds 3-4 times a week, and I would get pulled into it. I eventually told her about my goals and asked for her help, so she doesn't offer some to me or ask if I want to go, and she avoids eating it in front of me. But at the same time, she doesn't judge if every once in a while I want to give in.

My roommate is my best friend... like a sister to me actually and she has known about my weight loss journey since it began. But it's not her fault, it's MINE for staying up with her. She wasn't pigging out like I was. It's just the fact that I decide to stay up late when I'm actually TIRED that gets in the way of my diet!

I bought the no sugar jello and it says no points there. I'm sure the peanut butter might have been some points, 4 points from what I researched online...I couldn't find the whip cream. The calorie pack is probably like 1-2 points right?

...So the way I see it, you only did about 6 points of damage? That makes a total of 25 points for the day. Here's the question...how many points are you alloted daily?

..It doesn't sound that bad. But I DO UNDERSTAND the eating while full snack attack. A little baby sabotage going on there. Yes, go to bed early so no damage can be done! HA!

...That's exactly what I told myself the other day, when I felt like a tornado passing through my fridge. GO TO BED!!! You are only in DESTRUCTION mode!...ZzzzzZzzzZzz!

You're correct - the jell-o is 0 points, the peanut butter was probably 4, the oreos were 2, but the chips you forgot which was about 4 so yeah... 10 points... so thats 29 for the day EEK! Weight watchers suggest 18-25 points/day for people 150lbs or less and I've been shooting for 20 points a day.

Slip ups happened at least you stayed snacked with healthy enough stuff!!!! My slip up was chips.....Today is a new day!!!!! It's still early in the week it still can be salvaged!!!!!

I guess it is better than drinking and late night pizza like I used to do a lot... and yes it's a new day and today is much better :)

I have been very under control today and my meals have been filling enough to keep me from snacking... so far I'm at 9.5 points so basically 10 so I'm allowing myself 8 more, not including activity points. I'm going to focus on lots of veggies for dinner to keep the points low and keep me nice and full! ALSO at the grocery store yesterday, I bought these new Skinny Cow brand baby ice cream containers. They are only 2 WW points each, they have strawberry cheesecake, chocolate brownie, caramel cone, cookies and cream... they are SO GOOD! I had one last night (before the snack attack) and it really hit the spot and was just enough to keep me satisfied (eating on a full stomach was nonsense!!!) They were on sale at my grocery store 10 for 10 dollars which is pretty cheap!

______

IDK why but my lower back is KILLING me (tailbone) and it sucks!! I still have yet to work out, I think I'm going to go for a 10K run today. The weather is perfect. Not a cloud in the sky, sunny, warm, a little breezy.

Tomorrow we have planned to have a Cinco De Mayo party at our house! OH BOY! We are going to make lime jell-o tequila shots and tacos! Great another day to RUIN MY DIET but I'm going to try to not drink too much... and if I do, that is IT for partying this week! NO partying this weekend. I have babysitting and work and studying to do anyways.

Alright time to finally start this huge paper that is due TOMORROW and then go for my run!
~ Sarah

damn chips...LOL...party sounds fun!!!...Sugar free jello shots? LOL
LOL I was gonna go for that but I figured all my guy friends and stuff wouldn't really like that. Plus I'm really cheap and the regular boxes were on sale for $0.65 LOL

OK just went for my run! 6.24 miles in 58:28 (9:22 pace) and I have got to say it was pretty hard. That's because for most of the run I was running against 30 mph winds! I just checked the weather here and the wind speed is 31 mph! JEEZ. And when the wind WASN'T blowing, it was HELL because it's 79 degrees out! When it was windy, I wanted it to stop. When it wasn't, I wanted the wind! By the time I made it to 5K I was almost 3 minutes behind on my timing! And when I got home and sat down, my back is KILLING me even more now! :( I might take the day off... I've run outside the past 5 days in a row and I think I need a "rest" day from running. Maybe I'll try the bike or elliptical at the gym instead.

My old roomate used to make these chocolate pudding shots that everone loved. Mmmmm . . .

Nice run. Dang, your pretty fast!

Your party sounds like so much fun!! Wish I could come and enjoy some of those shots!
I think a day off from running is a good idea - you have been really pushing it this week!!
Those skinny cow treats sound so good too! The US has such a better selection of low calorie foods. I tried looking for those tofu noodles and they don't sell them anywhere. I'm guessing we don't have those ice cream treats either. The whole weight watchers selection is pretty crappy in Canada too. At our meetings they are always mentioning new products but that you have to cross the border to get any of them! Sucks.
Great job today Sarah and way to work it out after the snacks Monday - you totally burned them all off - especially being against the wind!!
Have a great hump day!

Pudding shots!? Now that's more like it! lol and thank you! I'm definitely going to keep a slower pace for the half though if I want to last... I was soooo damn tired last night after my run!

That's too bad that a lot of the products are in the US! I'm sure you have a good selection of healthy food as well, though. Do they sell VitaMuffin tops in Canada? I was looking at their website last night... they are 100 cal muffin "tops" with good nutritional value that come in banana fudge chip, double chocolate chip, banana nut.. many other flavors... I'd really like to order a box!

Let me tell you, it felt GREAT to sleep in today! And yes I consider waking up at 8AM sleeping in! Not your typical college student :-D I haven't gone to the gym and I'm not sure I will yet. My back is still hurting pretty bad. I think I might just go for a walk around the neighborhood. The weather is pretty nice! I completed my 5 page paper (that I was supposed to be working on throughout the semester... it was a "goals" paper, I was to be working towards these goals and then write a paper about the experience) Of course I waited til the last minute to do ANY research on my goals! But I'm sooo glad this damn paper is out of the way. Turning it in today and getting my CINCO DE MAYO ON!!!

OH and I also quick did a few measurements this morning... my waist is now 28 (down from 29)! Everything else is pretty much the same from February (yeah... FEBRUARY!) But I'm liking what I'm seeing... haven't taken and progress pics since... March??? I've been worried I would see my progress go backwards... but I will take a pics at the end of the month!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Sarah

Those Jello shot sound good!!! I could use a few lol! As for Taco's I make mine with Tofu or Vegi Ground round and eat them as a Salad with no shells. I am guessing the guys won't go for that huh????

I agree with Lisa about the WW stuff here in Canada it's very litmited. I have seen the Skinny Cow at the store they have the bars and ice cream sandwich I have to check to see what type of surgar they contain?

You deserve a day off from working out especially since you are in pain. Enjoy your party and have a few shots for us!!!!

The new books have a different way to determine how many points you are allowed in a day and I wanted to share it with you - Veronique have a look too because I know your book is older also.
1. How much do you weigh? - enter the first two digits of your weight in pounds. For example if you weight 135 enter 13.
2. Female - 2 - damn men get 8!!
3. How old are you? 17-26 (4), 27-37 (3), 38-47 (2), 48-58 (1), over 58(0)
4. How tall are you? Under 5'1 (0), 5'1-5'10 (1), Over 5'10 (2)
5.Do you spend most of your work day - sitting down (0), Occasionally sitting, but mainly standing (2), walking - the ex. they give is postal worker (4), Doing physically hard work (6)
6. Nursing moms get more points too.
Ok so here is mine (add them up to get your daily points value):
1. 14
2. 2
3. 3
4. 1
5. 0
HAha I just added them up and I get 20!! For the longest time I thought I was allowed 19!! If I get down to 139 I will have to change it to 19 but I'm so excited I just realized I get an extra point, lol!!!
Have a great weekend Sarah - do good. Chat with you Monday!

Thanks!! I also get an extra point!!!!

Thanks for the info Lisa! I calculated mine and it's 20 as well. That's what I've been aiming for so I was right on! Very cool.

The party was a lot of fun - I don't feel as bad as I guess I would have but I did pig out towards the end of the night on snacks as I was pretty drunk and I ate dinner at 7PM (I was up until 2AM) so I definitely woke up NOT hungry... just drank a big cup of green tea and I'm gonna grab some water and head to class. Today is going to be all about flushing my system out! Already took a good crap this morning LOL sorry if that was TMI but hey this is MY journal right :p hahaha

Anyway, our house smells SO GROSS and there are beer bottles EVERYWHERE. It is a mess. I'm hoping my friends clean some of it up while I'm in class :-D Probably not though.

I'm babysitting this evening and I have to drop off the girls at gymnastics for an hour in an industrial park. Their mom said she usually goes for a run while they are in gymnastics so I think I'm gonna do that! I'll wear my watch to see how long I run and kinda figure out the distance that way since my pace is pretty consistent.

Gotta go!

That's great about going for a run while you wait...that's one thing I haven't gotten into yet. Whenever I have some time to kill I resort to the couch. Good on you! And I HATE the morning after a party, the clean up sucks...but, if you have to do a lot of it, just put on some upbeat music and look at it as a mini-workout!

You should really try getting into running! I HATED it before and I could barely run a mile last September... then I started a program very similar to the Couch to 5K program and in just 2 months I was running 3 miles straight no problem. And I love running now. You should really try it... it's easy! Just google Couch to 5K :)

_____

Alright so yesterday wasn't the best for eating. I felt like my day was just all carbs. And when I went babysitting, for dinner we ate leftover pizza (I had 2 slices) and then the girls pulled out a huge bag of Easter candy so I started stealing all the chocolate! But that's usually how my days after drinking go. So today is a fresh start. I decided to do the 30 Day Shred this morning... I forgot how hard the strength part of level 1 is!!! I thought for sure it would be easier since I have been weight training more but man was I wrong! My arms are gonna be pretty sore tomorrow.

I had an egg with cheese on a whole wheat english muffin for breakfast (5pts) and earned 2pts from my workout so the day's total is at 3 right now. I'm just finishing a water bottle. I made myself a yummy wrap for lunch today - chicken breast, sliced apples, onion, lettuce, and yellow mustard on a sundried tomato basil wrap! It's HUGE and only 3 points!

Today is sooo gloomy and rainy, it makes me feel tired. I really don't want to work today... blah! I'm going over to my friends house after work. We will probably have some beer or wine and just sit around talking like we usually do together. Then there is no more drinking until my birthday which is next Thursday! I have soo much stuyding an a HUGE project to do for Tuesday. EEK!

Here are some pics from our party the other night...

Looks like a great party!!! I think it's great that you are taking time to party...I wish I had partied a bit more when I had the chance! Enjoye it!!!!
Have a great weekend! Also thank you for that great breakfast idee (oatmeal, banana, PB) Loved it!

HOT LEGS!!! OooOOoOoU!!!

Thanks girls!!!

So let's pick up where we left off:

Friday - Ended the day at my allowed points. Went to my friends house to hang out. We drank wine and ate some pistachios, but that was it for the night. Usually I pig out.. I didn't even try eating her alfredo noodles and I most certainly did not reach for the oreo cookies in her fridge either!

Saturday - No work out. I slept in, went to work, then went shopping for my mom afterwards. I bought her a charm for her charm bracelet, some flowers, a card, and her favorite candy bar. I got home pretty late and was too tired to work out, so I watched a movie and went to bed. Went over my points by only 1.

Sunday - Did some homework in the morning, then decided to go for a long run after reading Marathon Man's post about his 13 miles! I ran 8.76 miles in 1 hour and 34 minutes. I started off really slow to make sure I could run the entire time, and by the last mile I had so much energy to keep going that I just flew through it! I ran the entire time except for one time when I had to stop to cross the highway. My knees hurt a little towards the end but I felt really great and it made me fell more confident in running the half marathon in 3 weeks! Food today:
Breakfast - Egg and cheese on whole wheat english muffin (5pts)
Snack - Fiber One bar (2pts)
Lunch - Oatmeal w/peanut butter and banana (6pts)
Snack - Salad: lettuce, onion, cheese, ranch dressing (3pts)
Snack - Almonds (2pts)

This puts me at 18 points for the day already but I earned 7 activity points so I'm really at 11. For dinner I am going to have either chicken or steak strips mixed with some veggies (2pts) and if I want dessert I'll go for a Skinny Cow ice cream (2pts).

I have tonight and tomorrow left to write a paper and study for 2 exams. I can't believe I will be done with the semester on Tuesday! CAN'T WAIT FOR SUMMER and for more runs outside and getting fit and staying healthy!!! Here's to my first healthy, fit, and fabulous summer!!! :)

Way to go on the run!

How you liking weight watchers? Better than just straight counting calories? And how do you count your points (since one brand english muffin might be twice the calories and size of another one)? Just wondering if that route would be easier for me since I'm gonna be counting all summer long.

Thanks! I'm actually really liking counting weight watchers points more than counting calories. I stick to the same brand of foods really, so I know that the english muffins I use are 2 points. You can find that out just by looking at the nutrition label. Weight watchers calculates points based on calories, fat, and dietary fiber. Plug in the numbers (I have a "slider" card for that) and it gives you the points.

Another thing I like about it is because I am more careful with what I eat now. I was at work this weekend looking at the food in the snack box. I picked up a pack of Reese's peanut butter cups and looked at the label: 210 calories. Not THAT bad when I would still have 1,200 calories left for the day. But there are 13 g of fat and 1 g of dietary fiber as well. Knowing that, the weight watchers points value is 5. My meals are usually around 5 points so basically the candy bar would be my meal. I put the candy bar down and refused to eat it!

Counting calories still made it okay to junk food. Weight watchers, not so much. I highly recommend giving it a try! I even learned how to make a weight watchers calculator on Microsoft Excel by watching a tutorial on YouTube :)

I cheated!

This morning my mom asked me if I have weighed myself yet. I told her I have not. She said, "You know, people on the program weigh in every week so they can see if they need to make any changes to what they're doing or if it's working." Being stubborn and defensive like I am, I said, "Yeah, I know... I was weighing myself every week since September, but now I'm waiting."

I went to the bathroom a little while later and looked at the scale. I had already eaten breakfast, so I thought... maybe if I check, I should wait til tomorrow since I always weigh first thing in the morning. But I just stepped on it anyway!

I'm mad at myself for cheating BUT I'm happy that in just 2 weeks and 2 days, I have lost 2.2 pounds which puts me at 136.6! I'm happy to know that the program is working. I'm going to wait til the half marathon to weigh in again. 3 weeks left!!!
