Welcome back ;)

Lovely place - really took my breath away.

9 lbs eh ?? Sorry to hear that. Hope it's a clerical error.

It has to be a clerical error!

Or I'm killing TOM.

I drank probably 4 drinks on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday - none on Thursday and only really snacked (Happy Hour) on Tuesday & Wednesday...everything else was fairly normal. There is simply nothing that can account for 9 pounds.

I'll just wait and see what happens as my cycle ends and the sodium is flushed from my system.

GASP!! No, no houses!!

;)

Actually, at the far end of that beach are two little old houses, one is yellow the other blue clapboard with white trim...I'd take either!

ok ok a tent then but i wont have room for the pool lol.... I have always loved places on the water. we are going on vacation soon and I really want to go someplace that has a nice beach....... I guess its just the call of the surf...

I hear ya lee - I love the beach.

And yes, a tent on the beach is perfect, and as for a pool, you'd have one at your foot steps ;)

I'm at the beach twice a week, Monday & Thursday (my daughter is wanting to surf this year), and we generally camp 3 times a year at the beach (not counting all the other places). The beach is truly my favorite...with the exception of TRAINS!

I swear the engineer blows the horn as he goes by just because he feels anyone sleeping OUTSIDE of plaster walls *deserves* to be waken up at 2:15 & 4:05 every morning ;)

At least I was up and walking by the 6:15 train!

we live about an hourish from galveston but its kinda that murkey green/brown kinda just yukk. we dont mind to travel for a little blue water. This year were thinking about florida or california.

Thanks Jodee - you have a great weekend too!
(I'm doing laundry...dirty, stinky, camping laundry - the excitement never ends here!) ;)

Lee, Yeah, I've heard about Galveston's water...not pretty :(
What about Cancun...there's some awfully pretty water down there! And it's just on the other side of the gulf from you!

I spent over a month back packing the region, and it was AMAZING!

my wife was telling me something about wanting to see some pyramids in Mexico. I don't remember if it would be close to Cancun or Cozumel. Yea that would be great though I love Mexico

If it's pyramids, then she's probably talking about Chichen Itza - the most famous/well reconstructed of the Mayan sites, Tulum is close to Cancun too (about an hour, hour & a half away), and that site sits overlooking the ocean - just beautiful.

Hey M2M, glad to see you back ;) When you said camping, the first thing that sprang to mind was a damp, cold field in England ..... you have much better camping in the US :D It looks beautiful.

You did so well being restrained while away and getting heaps of exercise. And 9lbs!! That is bound to be all water. TOTM is bad enough but add a heap of salt and whoomph!! You'll be retaining water like a paddling pool.

By next friday I am sure that you will be right back down, and then some ;)

Oh Mrs B - I think you're right, I'm down *5* pounds since I got home! I'm still 4 up since my last Monday weigh in, but that I can contribute to TOM. I figured if I had gained anything, it would be one pound tops - there was simply no way the math justified 9 pounds!

I am SO going to stay away from sodium!! GADS that stuff is not good for me!!

Oh my goodness but that picture is beautiful.....how cool to have that as a backdrop for a week. Glad you had a good time out there in nature except for the trains! LOL!!!

Welcome back, we really missed you!!!!

It confuses me because of the time difference, but it looks as if you lost 5lbs overnight!!! However you look at it, you have only been back 1-2 days, and I am sure it takes longer than that for the retained water to be flushed out, especially with TOTM. Looking at what you ate and the exercise you got, I would be surprised if you gained at all. More likely that you maintained (or maybe even lost .... you never know ;) ) I'd give it a good week before you do anything silly like change your ticker, just to give things time to settle down. :)

Mrs. B, thanks - I was wondering about the ticker and when to move it!

As for the timing, I got home late Thursday night and was up to 227 (from 218 on Monday), Friday morning I was at 225, Saturday morning I was at 222 and this morning I'm at 221. I figured since I moved my ticker last Monday, I'll move it again this Monday, up if needed...

I definitely know now, that too much alcohol weakens the resolve ;) And I'm staying away from salty foods!

I have never watched what sodium did to my body before - and it is UGLY! The happy hour snacking included lots of dipping action, crackers with cream cheese & raspberry chipolte (my favorite), chips and a creamy salsa and on the way home, Meg and I shared a half a bag of Doritos...I know, I know ;)

In the past we would have eaten a whole bag each way...I threw away the remaining half of the bag when I got home.

I also had (over the course of Mon, Tues & Wed - I didn't drink on Thursday) a total of 5 beers, 1/2 bottle of wine, 2 margaritas, 1 Bahama Mama (vodka & fruit drink) and I think that's all ;) There's no doubt I had a few extra calories then planned!

But you were thinking about it .... that's the key. You didn't mindlessly eat the whole bag of snacks. You know what you ate and what you drank. I am sure if you hadn't been totting it up, you would have had more. I think it was GI Joe who said 'Knowing is half the battle!' ;) :D

lol. I think you're like me... We have a snack tooth for salty foods. Between ice cream and a bag of doritos, I'd have chosen the doritos too. ;) Be careful about the empty calories in alcohol. Though I do hear that some places offer *light* versions of alcoholic beverages. Mostly only in LA. But if you go to a bar that has some stuff... Maybe they can make you stuff like these?

M2M: So you let lose and you paid for it. But I ask you did you at least have fun? After all you were the one who told me that you only live once.

As for your weight gain and the way you were explaining how it was comming off it seems like a total sodium overload. And you pretty much alredy knew that.

When I drink I try to stick to cesars because they are in tomato juice (like is makes is healthier) or I drink light beer. I try to stay away from those sugary cockails but it's so hard when everyone is having a fancy daquari or something.

You are an inspiration and I'm totally sure you will be down again in no time!

Oh. I almost forgot. I have worn my bathing suit at a public beach twice this summer and as you did at the water park I people watched and there were more imperfect bodies than there were perfect ones. I didn't feel so uncomfortable ones I lookes around.

Have a great weigh in on monday and an even better on next monday!
