Oh yeah, I can see how this would cancel anyone's walking day :( especially that 'Sunny' part :p

criminey and i'm shooting for 15 minute miles... that's more like a jog than a run.. most impressive..

Thanks Mal, and your time will improve - I started out easily doing 20 minute miles.

Ahem...yes, it's sunny - but it's WINDY and I live at the base of mountain/canyon so it is windier here then other locations AAANDDD when you're the WLF WW, 41 degrees IS cold.

:p

We were supposed to get a major storm and we didn't so I can go out and enjoy the lack of weather today myself. Just popping in so I can say Hi and see how you're doing.

it's above freezing :D we had that weather last week and i was complaining that it was too warm :D

wacky weather -it's the end of the world i tell ya :D

FINE!
I'm going - I've got two layers of bottoms, three layers on top AND gloves...

Be back in a bit.
grumble...grumble...
;)

FWIW, my endurance took a long time to build in this walking thing - a speed demon I'm not. Consistency has been my best asset. I just hate losing the momentum.

An 11.79 is like a wind sprint to me. I don't think I even jogged a time like that back in High School when we were required to be tested on one mile runs annually. I use to hide behind a tree and count the laps the leader did and jumped in the middle of the pack on the last lap.

Funny how the teach always said "you hardly broke a sweat Randy"

OK - you guys are my BEST inspiration and motivation!

I'm back - and yes - I'm warm...damn right sweating like crazy - but I DID IT!

The total...
5.26 miles
Drumroll...
1:00.31

:)

holy schmoly. did you get ticketed for speeding? j/k

I wish walking where an option here but right now its likley to lead to a broken hip. We had snow then one day we had rain, then more snow...so now instead of roads we have ice slides. and our sidewalks are under about 7 feet of concrete hard snow burms. Wanna visit? just kidding again.

Hope your day is a good one!

Oh you and your weather. The past few days, I've been lucky I don't come back with icicles hanging out of my nose, no matter how fast I'm going!
I suppose I shouldn't complain nonetheless. When winter weather doesn't start until almost the middle of January, it's something to be grateful for.

Thanks Iwan :) I simply couldn't imagine your weather - it's not even in my realm of imaginings and "what ifs" LOL! It's 62 degrees in my house, my hands and feet are now frozen and I just turned on the heater! How do you ever get, let alone STAY warm???

you are a walking rockstar M :D

is race walking still an olympic event? :D

I'm not sure Mal, but I'm thinking if it is, they would have to walk WAY faster then I do! LOL!

Oh, I hear you about the icicles hanging from the nose - who knew sniveling came with walking!?

Ok you are my new Idol! One day I will work my way up to walking your speed!

Go speedy Go!

Thanks MoonGoddess :) I started out with 20 minute miles too - but I have this overly competitive personality. Combine that with an Iron Man watch that has a lap counter, I am obsessive when it comes to bettering my time ;)

Racewalking is indeed a sport -

20K is the main event which is just about 13 miles - top speed is 1:24:50 for women...

Ok so maybe you have to pick up the pace a little bit :D but dang you could kick ass on the US women's team :D

1:31:51 is their best time :D

Pick up the pace a bit??? They're speed walking a 6.5 minute mile!!! OMG! That's hard core runnning for me, all out for 13 miles. I'm sure I'd puke before I got 30 minutes into it LOL!

The fastest I've been able to walk is a 10 minute mile, with no jogging - and that might have been down hill with a wind at my back ;) When I throw jogging in, I can get an 8 minute mile, but never have I jogged a full mile at a time - it's a walk/jog combo.

And thanks for that link Mal - it is FABULOUS!

First let me say, I love the way you 'reply' to people by quoting there posts. I'm going to adopt that journal technique.

10 min/mile! WoW! I'm proud of myself for doing a mile in 20! You started off as a 20 min walker, got any suggestions for us slow walkers?!?
