A dairy from India

Safe flying Juni,

Maybe your weight will change again now that you've been home and are hopefully a little less stressed?

Have a good weekend (recovering from jetlag I guess?)

Ana

Hi guys,

Another continent, another time zone, away from home once again.

Was really really good to be away, but it is also really good to be back in Delhi.

By myself I am more in control of what I eat. So gonna completely cut out sugar (no chocolates, no choc chip cookies, no cakes, candies,). The only sweet I get is from fresh fruits. I wanna try this for a couple of weeks and see if there's really a difference. I have known for a very long time that sweets and baked goods are my major weaknesses. I want to see if I completely cut out unhealthy sweets from my diet for a week or two what kinda results I get.

End of week three of c25k tomorrow and then week four. Yay! I cant wait to be running without stop.

I have had a strange weekend today. I was tired from my flight, so been sleeping a lot. Wanna sync my body to this time zone so gonna go to bed early tonight. I haven't been able to eat much, just small lunch and then snack and I am not hungry (it is like 4am there, so no wonder).

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Thanks a lot Ana. You know I have realized something in the last few long distance- over the Atlantic/Pacific travels I have done. When I was younger I didnt get jet lag so much, now I get major jetlag. I guess I must be getting old. As a student I traveled a lot internationally (hence this job in India), then as a professional I have to travel a lot. I used to not feel the jet lag that much when I was a student. Now I feel it more. I have no other explanation but the age factor. :)

Hope you are good, Ana. Gonna drop by your journal next!

Hey girl! Thanks for stopping by my diary and reading it! I love the feedback, it keeps me goin :) Congrats on your journey so far :) I see you're just ending week 3 of the c25k? I am too! Goin on week 4 come Monday... eeeek! Keep up the good work!!! :)

Today wasn't too bad, at all. I am very proud of myself.

Went running n the morning.

Food for today was:

B'fast- lots and lots of pear, guava, apples
Snack- cucumber and pear
Lunch- bulgar salad, green string beans, cauliflower
snack- small bowl of noodles
Dinner- 1 chapati with homemade apricot marmalade (yum yum yum!)
Snack- a piece of toast with PB

Also drank lots and lots of water.

So I did stick to the plan of not having any sugar 'cept fruits. The homemade marmalade had a lil bit of sugar, but I must have had 1/2 tbsp so I am not gonna beat myself over it.

I don't have any chocolates or choc-chip cookies in my cupboards in the apartment. Before I left for the states I had given all the sweet stuff away. I really wanted to go and buy a bar of chocolate in the evening but I resisted. I hope I can do this for next two weeks. Really wanna see what changes not having sugar can do to your system.

Hi hi, loved your journal entries. Will drop by often.

Isn't c25k really great? Now that the monsoons are over it is really amazing to run in the mornings. Wk 4 should be ok. You are doing so well!! We can do this.

Hey Juni,

Nice to hear you are safely home and back into the swing of things...

I finally started w4 today.... eek it was a bit hard, I had to have a couple of extra 10s walking breaks during the 5min run....

Sounds like you are doing well in the eating department too! Well done.

I always suffer terrible jet lag, it takes me about a week to get back to normal. I hate it, but I love travelling!

see ya later

Ana

Had an amazing W4D1 of c25k in the morning!! I am LOOOOVING this program!! Yes, W4 is a little hard, and I may repeat this week. But for now I am totally loving it.

What I have eaten so far today:

B'fast- two small pieces of toast with marmalade
Lots and lots of water.

I need to repeat this- no sugar, no sugar, no sugar, no sugar, no sugar.

I have to go out for dinner with friends tomorrow. We are going to a blues performance. So I know there'll be some wine and other food involved. I will consider this my cheat day and stay with the program the next weekend. I will eat no dessert coz I choose a good glass of Merlot over any sugary sugary yucky dessert. :)

Looooove being back and in control of eating and workouts.

Will update more later in the day. I am off to early lunch now.

Did stay on track with food today

B:two toast with marmalade, guava
L:bulgar salad, veggies with soybeans
S-crackers with PB, guava
D:1 chapati with lots of green veggies
S- cheese with 12 almonds

Day two of no sugar. I miss it. A lot. But I am not going to go out and buy anything sugary. For now I am getting my sugar from fruits.

Need more protein in my diet. I must have some tuna or salmon tomorrow.

Gonna run again tomorrow morning. Will see if the week is hard. I found it a lil difficult. I think I didn't stretch properly.

Juni, staying away From sugar huh? Yeah I find it tough to do also. I'm currently doing the same thing, but I'm getting really good results, so the motivation is there.

It usually gets a little easier a few days in. I'm at the satge now where I've weaned my body off enough that I can eat something sugary for a special occasion, and go right back into my nos refined sugar plan without feeling cravings, so it's all good.

I tried C25K, but I have too many problems with my knees/ankles to do it. I stick to cycling now.

RC, so nice of you to drop by!! :)

I truly hope the no refined sugar thing works for me. Sugar is my biggest weakness (and ref sugar is so darn bad for you). Thank you so much for words of encouragement. Will let u know how it goes this week (if i don't post for a day, know that I am lying unconscious somewhere with low blood sugar)....hahaha...ok no dramas. It is hard, but I am gonna fight this.

Cycling sounds amazing. Do you do it everyday? Must be hard in the winter tho, no? Esp in MA. I went to school in MA (i lived there for four years and I still cant spell it) :) and I remember some winters being particularly harsh. Not that it is any better in NH where I grew up.

Later!!

Hey, what part of NH? I knew you were in India now, but never knew you were a New Englander?

Yup. Don't think I have mentioned it anywhere. I lived in Concord, NH 'til I was about seven. Then my dad got an international job, so we lived all over. I count myself lucky to have been able to move around so much. Now I would like to think of myself as a global citizen (do love being called New Englander too:)). Have lived most of my adult life outside of the States. But I did come back to the motherland for college in MA and want to come home (my parents have moved back to NH) and live closer for grad school. Fingers crossed. And I hope to travel n live in many more countries in the future.

Where in MA are you?

Super duper tired today. Been running every day for the last few days. I really have to break this plateau. I miss sugar, but I didn't have anything sweet today. I am kind of liking this challenge I have given to myself. It frustrates me, but at the end of the day when I look back I really feel accomplished.

Food was good today:

B'fast- lots and lots of fruits- pear, apples, banana, guava
Snack- cucumber
Lunch- boiled bulgar, veggies,
Snack- two pieces of toast with lowfat cheddar cheese
Dinner- Chicken currey with chapati and a glass of white wine.

Really tired today. Work is getting busy again. I do take the time out to think about food, plan for the next day, think about what good things I can eat, how I can run better.

How's everyone else doing?

So I skipped running today. Was majorly tired. C25k is going well, but I think I'll repeat Wk4. I am in no hurry to get anywhere. Just enjoying the ride.

How's everyone? Been kinda quiet here. Wonder where everyone is.

More later. But if you are here and reading my journal, leave some luv.

Leaving some love! :hug2:

I live in northern Central MA (worcester county, near the NH border), and have a summer house near Keene NH also. My Dad lives in the White mountains, western side near VT. New England my whole life.

Weekend plans? Not much right now. Taxi driving on Saturday, house projects on Sunday. Pretty boring really.

Hey Juni

I'm having such a busy week, I've hardly been out running...

I'm going to have to repeat the week as well...

catch ya later

Food today was alright:

B- toast and some marmalade
L-Mixed bean soup, boiled bulgar, veggies and pickled radish
S- 1 Samosa, a couple of fries, one small spring roll (not the best choices i know, but they only had that available at the meeting, I was in a hurry to get out of the house in the morning so didn't pack. i skipped the dessert tho)
S- almonds
D- chapati, green veggies
snack- lowfat cheddar cheese

No sugar today either. I am not missing it so much today. I hope to stick with this. I feel good so far.

My running day tomorrow.

Keene is close!! Good to know you, fellow New Englander. :)

Your weekend doesn't sound boring at all. It is low-key and relaxing. I wish I had that. I really need it. Still getting over the jetlag and would have really liked to sleep in this weekend. However, it is Diwali in this part of the world, and I have been invited by kind friends and their families to attend (they take pity on me because they think I miss home during holidays). I love it tho. I have really kind friends.

I'm with u abt the busy week. I was gone a week and the work just piled. Slowly sifting through it, hitting one deadline at a time.

Repeating a week should not be a problem. I think it is better for you anyway- mentally as well. Are you taking rest days between? And stretching well?

Weekend is just two days away. Hang in there, Ana.
