A change for life

Back on the train

Well, I guess I never really left, just kind of droped off the posting train....

After a few months of just maintaing my initial weight loss of 25lbs. it's time to hit it hard again. Today starts my 12 week body for life challenge. I am fortunate to have my youngest brother going at it with me. While I'm trying to lose weight, he's after muscle gain (he's about 5% bf).

The goal is to play basketball on Mondays for Cardio, and then the rest of the week, be in the gym in the morning's. I need to start drinking 1 gallon of water a day again and really start watching what I eat again.

Here's my starting stats:
243 lbs.
29.7 bf%


On another note, I have become stronger and can bench 235lbs, which is damn close to my weight. I want to be benching my weight by then end of the month which is my first acheivable goal.

The goals today are:
Drink 128 oz of water
Eat 6 meals
Do 10 mins of stretching
50 pushups.
Post in my journal!

Day 2 went well. I didn't get up this morning for the workout b/c I had a horrible toothache last night and didn't get as much rest. Tuesday nights are poker night, so I didn't go to the gym.

Today I did drink my water and ate every three hours. I didn't eat the breakfast at work which isn't really clean and I only drank one cup of coffee at work (as opposed to all day coffee drinking). And I did post in my journal.

Basketball yesterday was a good workout and I look forward to playing every week.

Well, that's it for today.
 
Ate my six meals.
Did a full 1 and a half at the gym.
Drank water all day.

Here's to keeping it going one day at a time.
 
Well yesterday was pretty bad. I ate ok but wasn't able to go to the gym. I skipped out on work early to see my dentist. My #3 probably needs a root canal and it's been bothering me all week. My dentist is sending me to an Endondist which I am not even going to call. I'm going straight there in about 45 mins and making sure I get to see someone today. I hate missing work, but I hate having a sore tooth even more. Anyway, I'll try to eat good today and get my water. hopefully I will be able to hit the gym tonight if the doctor can work on me today.

Back and ready

Holy S#$T has it been this long since I've posted?

Oh well. Back on the route to healthy tomorrow. I'm at 235 and can't believe it after the lackluster performance I've given my body over the past few months. Another vacation and slacking off hasn't put the weight back on, but I'm not gonna let it get the best of me. I'm 238 and ready to slim down to 225 by the fourth of July. Running starts again tomorrow! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. This week is the time to kick it back into shape!
 
Did a good day. Didn't get all the water I wanted in, but it takes time to ween myself off of my coffee addiction. I did walk about 1 and a half hours today. I was going to go run at the gym, but wanted to be outside so I went down to the park and hiked the trails. Still good right? anyway, I will try to run tomorrow morning. I have a 5k run I'm doing in about 2 weeks, so I need to get my legs in shape.

Ate breakfast and a good lunch and dinner. Looking forward to a run tomorrow and all my water. Wish me luck! Good luck to everyone on their journey tomorrow. Keep it up, the weight will come off!

Yeah. Two goals accomplished today. Drank more than a gallon of water and ran 5k. My shins hurt after the first five minutes and I didn't break any records. But I did burn over 500 calories and did sweat my a$$ off.

Tomorrow I want to run again, beat todays time (38:45), drink over a gallon of water again, and eat well. I haven't started counting my calories again, but tomorrow I will.

Man I feel better.

Not a bad day.
Breakfast: 4eggs
Lunch (two small chicken sandwiches with Franks Hot sauce)
Snack (banana muffin)
Dinner Oatmeal
before workout: another 4 eggs

Damn, looking back maybe I should of eaten one more meal...is there still time? :)

Drank water all day long, I know I hit at least a gallon.

Ran tonight at the gym, 3.1 miles in 33:02, shattering yesterdays time. I ran the entire time and then continued walking til I hit 45 mins. I feel beat, but I have to be ready for next weeks outdoor 5k run at a work event.

Todays weight after the run was 243.5, but I was wearing my heavy shoes and was soaking with sweat :)
 
Got my running done on Friday and Monday. Took the weekend off from the gym to paint and do landscaping.

Friday's run was 3.1 miles in 32:47
Monday's run was 3.1 miles in 31:53

I'm going to run tonight, but I have no delusions of beating my time by a minute, but who knows.
Had pizza yesterday at work because a vendor bought it for us. Other than that I had breakfast (four eggs) and a good dinner (chicken pasta, but not too much)

I felt really good after my run yesterday and will continue to run as I try to lose about 10 lbs before fourth of july family reunion. I'm done two pounds since I started running again. Hope to be 225 by the fourth!
 
Yeah it's saturday and I'm taking a break from painting the kitchen.

Thursday was a beautiful day in buffalo and I completed the 3.5 mi JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. It was extremely warm (about 85) but I did get it done in 42:05 and we enjoyed the festivites afterwards. 11,500 runners/walkers competed. It was amazing.

Friday I was surprising tired :) so I took it off. Today is painting and landscaping again, probably will take off from the Gym and go tomorrow, but who knows?

I'm around 230lbs and am loving it, can't wait to get down to 220, my weight in high school football off-season. That goal can be attained I think within a month (Fourth of July??)

Back to painting....
 
Ran for 40 minutes straight yesterday after work. That equated to 3.77mi and then I walked for another 20 for a total of some 800 calories burned in 4.75 miles. I hate going to the gym, I'm tired and ready to relax, then I change me clothes and start running. About 10 to 12 minutes in I start to get feeling good. My goal by the end of the week is to run straight for 60 minutes and see how far I can go.

I ate well yesterday with no exceptions. Looking to do that again today! Off to work...........
 
Back today. No running, just eating right. I ran yesterday for about 20 minutes, but my leg was giving me fits so I finished it off walking and then hitting the bike. Today my knees and legs were really sore. I'm going to take it easy and just hit the park hiking tomorrow for a few hours.

I was looking back thru my diary tonight and looking to recapture the enthusiasm I had when I started losing weight. I'm down to the lowest I've been in 8 years, yet I don't know why I'm not excited. I'm more motivated to get to a weight and point where I've never been before, but like I've said, one step at a time.
 
Another 5K run in the books! 33:08 mins.
Felt real good, kind of tight and sore at first, but worked thru it.

Drank all the water I needed today and you can really tell when you run if you're truly hydrated, I must have sweat out a gallon of water. Feels real good though. Did some extra stretches afterwards to really keep from tightening up. It can't be my age can it? I'm only 27.

One goal this weekend is to post some before and afters, but I need to get my old harddrive back installed in my computer so I can pull those before pics.

Anyway, I hope to spend some time out in the park this weekend and enjoy this fantastic buffalo weather....
 
Ok so yesterday I did it all....no gym, just sweat and blood as I hung shutters on my house, painted my exterior light fixtures, painted the house numbers and got up on the roof to paint my peeling chimney and vent pipes.....Then I transplanted a honey suckle bush, some other plants and evened out the daisy's along the house. I watered my back yard so I can dig it up today and put a walkway out to my shed. I got really sunburned and you know what, I gots lot to do today so no gym. I love summer and the workout you get in the yard. Well time to get at it...

I did 5 mile walk run in 59 minutes tonight. My 5k in 33:08. I ate well until I got home from the Gym. I had a killer appetite so I had two, count em, two bratwurst with mustard and relish...oh sooo good. Anyway..I am at 229lbs and ready to hit 220 by the middle of July. If I keep up the running I know I'll make it. I have a poker game tomorrow after work, so only if I get a bug up my ass will I get my run in in the morning...we'll see...

Well I woke up at 6 am this morning, but mainly due to the fact that I drank a lot of beer playing poker on Tuesday night. I don't get down on myself for doing that, but I know all it is doing is hampering my progress. I need to cut out the alcohol, but not until after the Fourth of July ;-)

I got all my water drank today and ate breakfast (4 eggs with a slice of cheese), Lunch was a chicken ceasar, Dinner was a chicken ceasar, had a snack bar in between. For dinner I had a chicken sandwich with a slice of cheese and after gym was a couple of rice cakes with peanut butter.

I was a little tired at the gym and only could muster a half-hearted run. I think i need to change my mp3's cause it's getting repetitive. Did get 3.5 miles done, even though it took me 50 minutes. Ouch...oh well, I went, I did, I didn't die..all in all not a bad day.
 
Thankfully it is Friday!

Been a fast week, but I'm beat. It's really cool here tonight. Went to target and got a pedometer. Just went for a 50 minute walk to step out a course for running. Found a nice 2.5 mile path around my neighborhood. I want to start running it in the mornings. I need to be outside running when we have this great weather.

No gym tonight, just the walk. Got a full weekend of outdoor work around the house, but I will go to the gym this weekend and start some weights again, just to get my upper body from sagging.
