Skinny,
That site is just what I was looking for. Thanks!
Shelley,
I'm not a huge candle fan, because I have three small children (and two cats, one of which burnt off her whiskers "smelling" a candle before I had kids). But, back when I did burn them, I was always drawn to the food smells. I never bought the flowery ones or the clean sheets ones, always the cinnamon roll ones and the pumpkin pie ones. My favorite is the buttercream one from Yankee Candles. I think it smells just like wedding cake and I'm convinced that Heaven will smell like wedding cake.
Now, I think I will start lighting them and smelling the goodies instead of eating them!

So I "did" the calories yesterday and today, but one of the church members died and I've been so busy setting up the funeral dinner that I've not been on the computer. But I'm just logging in to say everything is "pumped" for the challenge that starts today!

I'm sorry to hear about your loss in the church. It sounds like you ARE busy. I will be thinking of you today. If she can do it with everything going on, then I sure can too. Talk to you later!!

Turtle and Honey,
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Yesterday was a very busy day! Our church is a very small congregation and the man that died was really the "backbone" of the church family, so it was a large funeral and reception with lots of faces. My dh is the pastor and he worked so hard- spending the previous days with the family and then delivering an absolutely wonderful sermon. (Especially considering that this was hubby's first funeral and we've only been at this church for 3 months!) Anyway, the hall was just covered in homemade delights and even though I am dog tired today it was great. Funerals aren't "fun", but I know that that man is in heaven and his family was celebrating his life yesterday, so it was "fun." Anyway...
yesterday's food
1 special k breakfast bar (90)
water
cheese (reduced fat)
1 cup spaghtti and 1/3 cup meat sauce
carrots and 1/2 T light ranch dip
sugar free jello (10)
whipped topping (15)
diet pepsi
ham
green beans and potatoes
coleslaw
salad
small slice of black forest cherry cake with whipped cream and cherries (bad, bad, bad... but it was a small piece and it was so good! In fact, I've only made the cake twice now and I heard it referred to as "Miss Judy's World Famous Black Forest Cake")last night. LOL)
water
diet pepsi
1/2 glass white zinfindel

I didn't get much exercise yesterday, unless you count hours of standing and serving, and my new favorite expression, "rolling meat!"

When I was a child I asked my mom......why do funerals start with f-u-n because they certainly aren't fun. I am sure yesterday was a very hard day for you, and you did well. You can't deny yourself everything, and moderation is the key.

Well you and your church are in my prayers ... it is hard losing someone who is so special to everyone and such a part of your lives. I'm glad your hubby did so well- congratulations to that. I'm sure it was wonderful.
You are allowed treats ... just don't overdo and you're fin!

Hi Scrappy! I love the meals you planned, I actually salivated reading it. hehe Just wanted to say good luck this week with the challenge! Let's do it!

Hey just wanted to check in with you. Sounds like everything went very nicely at the funeral. condsidering it was for such an important man. You must be very proud of your husband, AND of YOU! I wish someone would complement my baking so nicely! WOW, you will have to send me some pie after we win the competition! hehe

Thanks for all the support! Losing this man has been difficult and it really does mark a turning point within our congregation. I am proud of my hubby. He did such a beautiful job. I am proud of myself, too (along with the tons of help to do it). The reception was great. People were very pleased and I'm sure it was a party that the man would have liked to have been at. But then again, he was. ;)
While I'm thinking about church... whose idea was it to serve refreshments??? This morning the table was just overflowing with more goodies from the funeral dinner and I had to keep walking by it and taking cauliflower!!! I should be thankful there was a veggie plate or the whole thing would have been a danger zone!
Today's food
special k bar
cauliflower
oatmeal cookie
split pea soup with ham and noodles
salad
homemade waffle with lite syrup, 1/2 banana,1/8 cup pecans and whipped topping

Exercise
2 mile dvd

Go,Hippy Hotties!

Scrappy, these are the times when we show ourselves our own strength. It's easy to just say oh well, but you stayed strong, and remembered that your health is important. Good for you.
