allicat2016,

Congratulations on your progress so far! Did you just start your weight loss journey this year? What motivated you to start?

Thanks Nathan!!

I`ve taken my weight loss journey MOST seriously in the summer of 2013 when I got down to an all time low weight of 138. I felt and looked my best at that time. Since then, the pounds have creeped back on and I`m in the 150`s. There`s no particular reason or motivation for me, I just want to look and feel my best again. I guess my motivation would be to do really well at this 10K race.

My friend and I are super excited to play mas this year... When I modeled costumes at 140lbs I remember feeling great but I knew that I would be perfect at 130. so that's what I'm aiming for now -- 20 to 25 pounds in 6 months. Definitely do-able. That's about 1 pound a week. I just have to put the theory into practice.

Goals for today are to go wheat&gluten free and walk 10,000 steps! Currently drinking some green tea. The powerful urge to have a bagel or breakfast sandwich has subsided.

Hey allicat, I think I can relate to you a lot. You're not so out of shape that it's having a negative effect on your health but you also know it could be so much better. Agh! It's frustrating. We'll get there though. :)

Yesterday was the first day in a LONG time that I've eaten completely gluten free. It was uncomfortable in the morning - I had the most powerful urge for a breakfast sandwich/bagel, but it went away around 11am. I woke up feeling really great this morning, I don't miss wheat, and I want to continue the momentum throughout the long weekend. Last weekend I got completely messed up due to the superbowl and not planning properly. So for All Star weekend I'm planning to carry a fruit and veggie tray with me at all times LOL, I'm so serious!

Last night at the gym a personal trainer approached me and my gym buddy... She really took the time to make sure our form was good and took our measurements and whatnot.. had a good talk about nutrition. She seems very patient but still to the point. I like that she's a woman and I'm sure my boyfriend will also appreciate that she's a woman lol. I'm booked next week for a free session with her. Obviously she's going to try and sell me on personal training. Which at this point, I wouldn't mind actually... I feel like it would be a good idea to get like a good 3 months in time for summer.

Heya. Just popped by for a read and say hi. Very impressed with the gym work. Do you go every day? I'm slack at going every other day and I'm only using the treadmill. I'm off there in a bit and shall do some weights and other stuff :)

Hey I go to the gym every day or as often as I can.
Gym tonight :) currently 156 pounds. I can`t seem to get back on tract and stay there. My working out is great but I can`t keep my food intake under control

Good for you drinking lots of water. Boo to the feeling blah! Hope you have a good day tomorrow & feel wonderful :D

154.4 today.

I'm back on track! *knocks on wood*I did grocery shopping over the weekend and after getting tons of rest, my body seems to have reset and genuinely WANTS healthy meals. It's a lot easier when you want to log everything, weigh and measure. It becomes fun to hit your macros :)

Menu for Today:
B: Strawberry and vanilla Yogurt with protein granola on top
L: Salmon, brown rice and steamed broccoli
D: Beef meatballs with a side of sauteed kale and mushrooms (oyster sauce)
S: Protein bar

Currently sipping green tea so time for some tea talk...
My diet plan is no where near perfect. I still have a lot of tweaking to do especially with finding cleaner sources of protein, that are lower in fat (and still edible...). But as far as I'm concerned it's a LOT better than I was eating before and that in and of itself is success! I'm taking it day by day -- every day is an opportunity to be better than yesterday and get closer to my goal. I finally feel like I have a fighting chance to be decent by summer, haha.

Still going strong! Last night made salmon fillets with oregano, salt and pepper. made a side of quinoa and steamed broccoli. Currently sipping on some black coffee, no sugar. Safe to say my eating has done a complete 180. I`m back in the mindset of 2013 when I was losing weight and reached my ultimate low weight of 138 which is still healthy for my frame of 5`6. I felt amazing!!! I need to get back there asap. Eating healthy is a LOT more fun and sustainable than trying to still keep the junk food in lower amounts. Best to just get rid of all those quick fix foods. I sucked it up and after a few days of hating it, now I love to prepare food at home again. Yes it's a bit of extra work but what else was I really doing in that time anyway?

Even when I hit 152 the other day, I knew it wasn't sustainable because I felt starving ALL THE TIME, even though I was probably exceeding my calories (wasn't calorie counting). And that was only like 5 pounds into it! There's no way I could have sustained that for another 20 pounds. But now I feel much better, I don't feel hungry at all and I even could skip a meal if I wanted to (but I will never do that). My downfall last time was once I reached my goal, I got LAZY!!! I stopped repurchasing the essentials like yogurt, veggies and meat. I started getting carried away withe ating out and resported back to bagels for a quick fix. Also, I got TOO STRICT. I would skip breakfast and deny myself certain foods. Not anymore, i will be successful this time because I am aware of these traps so I know what to avoid. I'll put the extra effort in, even when it seems like it's in vain.

I finished the first week of the couch 10K app in like 3 days. My 10k race is coming up in less than 11 weeks. The program is for 14 weeks so I need to get ahead of the program in order to be ready for my race. I want to do well.

CW is 153.4 this morning :) 13.6 pounds left until goal weight, then I'll decide if I want to lose more or maintain for a bit.

When I reach 139 I'm going to do a lot less cardio. I'll focus on workout classes and lifting instead. As for eating, I'll continue making healthy breakfasts and lunches, with more freedom on evenings and weekends. Within reason, of course. Can't wait to be in maintenance. At this rate, I should be there in April.

733 calories and I'm stuffed. Thats the amount of calories in a bagel w cream cheese and a morning latte. Jeez! So far I had 2 kinds of yogurt, granola, all bran buds, salmon, quinoa, broccoli and a chocolate chip cookie for 733 calories. Eating wholesome foods high in protein and fiber is such a win, it's crucial for weight loss. I still have at least 467 calories left for dinner. If I work out then i have even more calories to eat back.

It's so funny because when I was hungry all the time I was eating probably 2000+ calories per day of nutritionally empty food. Bagels, mcdonalds junior chickens, timmies donuts and double doubles, milk chocolate bars, gummy candy. Now it all make sense. I'm giving my body what it actually craves, nutrients, and now the fake mental cravings left in less than 2-3 days.

Other than that, Life right now is pretty good. Stagnant, but good. I work full time, go to the gym a couple times a week, and have a social life on weekends. I'm not terribly busy but I'm not idle either. I love where I am in life, but feel like I can do more. I'm planning some big projects later this year... dare I say it? After I lose weight.

no not because I feel so superfat that i can't do anything. It just so happens I need to wait to do the first project until after the snow clears up, so that will be in April. Perfect timing for when I expect to land in maintenance mode. I'm so passionate right now, I can't lose this motivation. Well they say motivation gets you started and habit keeps you going. I need to continue to establish good habits.
