2016 | My Weight Loss Journey

Currently I'm having a green smoothie made with delicious pineapple, kale, strawberries and vanilla probiotic yogurt. Yum! Next time I'll add more yogurt, but it's a very good drink. I am craving meat for some reason, I'm not a big meat eater but lately I've been having a lot of chicken, beef and salmon, sausage etc - Not good. Getting back on track by way of doing a smoothie cleanse for a few days. 2 of my meals per day, for the next 4 days, will consist of green smoothies. I'm not doing it for weight loss but rather to re-adjust my taste buds to crave healthier food again. The weather here has been pretty rainy and snowy, Winter is still pretty much here. I don't mind the weather though, more time to achieve my summer body before dress season lol. I got pineapples, strawberries, blueberries and bananas, and tons of kale.

I ran yesterday, feeling really good! Did my couch to 10K program and I'm currently on week 6. Four more weeks until race day. I still have a fighting chance at reaching my goals before then - being able to run 60 minutes straight at 6.0 mph.

Day 1 of the Smoothie cleanse is off to a great start. Working on my self control is hard but worth it... the struggle is not in vain and it will pay off, Almost done work, then going to the gym to run.

Thanks so much cate! Smoothies are one of those things I will have forever. They're ingrained in my lifestyle now. Too many great benefits!!
I wasn't able to get my second smoothie in yesterday OR run. Womp. For dinner I had salmon and a little home made pasta. The good news is I was able to finish dinner at 7pm, so that's 12 hours of IF. But I digress, on to day two. It will be better! Dusted off my green smoothie cleanse book to refresh on the basics. I highly recommend this book, it's by JJ Smith - 10 day smoothie cleanse. Apparently you can lose 10-15lbs. So far I lost 1.8lbs on day one - at this rate that's 18 pounds by the end of the cleanse. WOW! Need to stick to this and not get too excited or comfortable. Every day counts! I also don't want to be so strict that I end up giving up. I'm doing a modified cleanse, still allowing myself coffee because I'll be working full time during most of the cleanse. My REAL motivation for doing this cleanse is because I have the annual physical at work coming up in exactly 10 days. Every year, my numbers get better and better.. but for some reason I have a feeling this year I won't be so lucky if I continued the way I was eating. so I cleaned up my eating lately and this cleanse is just the final push. After the cleanse is over I'll focus on eating sensible and balanced meals. For now I'm absolutely loving the smoothies!

I'd like to try the following in my future smoothies. I feel like I've been playing it safe with strawberries and bananas, but I'd like to try...
- Rasberries and peaches
- Carrots, ginger and apple
- Oatmeal and bananas
- Papaya
- Kiwi
- Cherries
- Greens other than kale or spinach

As the weather gets better the fruit should be sweeter :)

I'm having some detoxing symptoms - a little bit of a dull toothache. Now my forheard hurts a little. Feeling constipated. Things sometimes get worse before they get better.
