12packAbs Diary

Food today for this kid....

Breakfast: Organic whole-grain cereal
Snack: Banana and 1/3 cup raw almonds
Lunch: Indian buffet (didn't eat waaaaay too much like I normally end up doing at buffets)
Snack: 1/2 cup cottage cheese and baby carrots

Then tonight is a long drive...which will consist of coffee and fast food (hopefully I'll make some good food choices)...and I think this weekend will be a bit of a cheat weekend, but at least I'll be extremely active.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll be back on Monday :D

Barely alive! Yikes...that was an experience...about 18hours in the car, 17hrs of training, 7 hours of interupted sleep and a knee injury later...I'm back...

I stayed home yesterday with my son as he wasn't feeling well (and daddy didn't complain about watching movies and having naps) :)

Hurt my knee though...methinks it's the ACL...hopefully it's not torn (or fully torn)....seeing my doctor on Thursday...this could be disastrous if I need surgery and a year of recovery...yikes...it would definately be a time of challenge for me...I'd have to be way more strict with my diet if I can't work out with any intensity...I guess I'll just have to spend a lot of time working on my upper body ;)

awww, sorry to hear your son wasn't well - hope he's feeling better today :)
Hope the knee isn't as bad as it seems :( Rest and doc sounds like the best plan. Good luck at the doctor's on Thursday!

don't think the worst yet... :D look on the bright side - think of all the time youll get to spend with us if you are laid up for a year :D (ooooh I said Laid :D )

down mal down.. :D

take care of yourself today and hope your knee recovers soon (as someone who's been thru knee surgery twice from my younger days as a wanna be ski bum - it's not fun :D .

put a cast on it - find a ski resort and sit by the fire - the girls will just line up :D

You two sure brighten my day up and bring a smile to my face! :)

Mal - what kind of knee surgery did you have? I'd like to find someone that had an ACL injury...my injury seems to fit all the criteria, except for swelling - I haven't had very much swelling at all, so hopefully that's a sign that it's not the worst cast scenario.

arthroscopic surgery:

first time was for a torn meniscal cartilage - it was outpatient surgery that I was back walking without crutches in 2 days and a few weeks worth of rehab -- i was back to as normal as I get in about 6 weeks.

the second time was a torn anterior cruciate ligaments - arthroscopic surgery again - same doctor who did a great job -I was on crutches for about a week -and rehab for a few months (rehab = masochism at it's finest -they took perverse pleasure in the pain they caused) I was good as new (but I wasn't a super athlete) in about 6 months -

while both skiiing injuries were not my fault (collisiions caused by people who were on trails they had no business being on) it was strongly suggested that I hang up my skiis... I still miss it :(

the surgery is really no big deal - the older you are (and you aren't old) the worse the recovery is.. but if it is a torn ACL - it's just time... If you're doctors in canada specialize - find a doctor that has a practice in sports medicine - sometimes the treatment can be just an aggressive form of rehab and no surgery...

Thanks pequin...I hope so too...I'm crossing my fingers and toes for just some physio. Going to see the doctor on Friday (thought it was Thursday) and I couldn't get into the sports medicine clinic until late next week, so I'm going to see my family doctor first and go from there.

Gotta stay positive! (and active too).

crossing my fingers here too that it all goes well :) Have a great day and ...puno lijepih pozdrava iz Hrvatske (for anyone wondering its in croatian-lots of greetings from croatia). Lena
