Wow...it's been a little while since I've stopped by...I didn't mean to be anti-social...
I've been working very long hours and I was out of the office for a month, and I didn't have internet access during the day...
Well...I've definitely gained some weight over the last couple of months...not sure how much...the last time I weighed myself I was back up to 214, and I'm sure I've lost some muscle as well. In the past two months since my injury I have done 2 karate classes, 2 gym workouts and 2 indoor kayaking sessions. I think I did some short workouts at home too, but not enough to form a habit. Oh yeah..and some physiotherapy sessions too...I'll get to that in a bit...
I've haven't been eating that well lately. I've been getting pizza for lunch way too often...although I've brought healthy food to work for the past two days...so hopefully I'm back on the health kick.
This happened to me last year...I work tons of hours from February to April, I stop exercising, I don't eat well (lots of fast food) and I drink a lot. I'm now buying Kilkenny by the case (cause it's cheaper that way you know)...and it's been a couple of beers a night probably 4-5 nights a week. I get pretty bummed out when I work all these hours, and what happens when we get bummed out (all together now) we eat...it's like clockwork...
I went to see a sports clinic doctor a month or so ago, and did some physiotherapy sessions. The therapist and I both agreed that it was better to go off and do the exercises on my own because if I needed surgery, I'd be spending a lot of time there afterwards...so I was waiting for my MRI (in August but I got a call and it was moved up again).
So I had my MRI a few days ago (3:30am on Monday morning to be exact)...MRI clinics here run 24hrs a day or else the wait times would be ridiculous (well, even so, they currently are ridiculous). I got a call from a nurse at my doctor's office and it's an ACL tear as well as some fluid build up. I'm seeing the sports doctor again next week, so we'll see what he recommends. I believe it's just a partial tear, so I think I will not likely need surgery...just rehab...for my knee and drinking maybe...
Argghh....it's been a tiring and frustrating couple of months...
On a brighter note...I found a small gym around the corner from my office...and I'm checking it out tomorrow...it's really reasonably priced and very very close to work. So I'm thinking that I'll join up and go do weight workouts at lunch...I think I really need to get back into strength training on a regular basis...everything hurts and I just feel weak and fat...where did I put that beer....
So.......how is everyone else these days?
Sorry...that took a while to type....
