12packAbs Diary

Ahhhhhh ha aha on noes thats GOTTA suck.
Im lucky my older brother has a vested interest in my weight loss - i think he threatened my husband with bodily harm if they screwed up the diet/exercise :)

Sooo....I've been slacking off a little lately...haven't logged on in a couple of weeks...

I've been eating, ok, not great, but not terrible either. And I've had more alcohol that I needed too (calorie wise). The last 2 weeks (up to the 8th) I've gotten out to 3 karate classes a week, with at least 2hrs per class. A few saturdays ago I think it was a 3.5hr class. Then I was sparring with someone last Saturday, and I broke my hand punching him in the head (don't worry, we wear protective gear so he didn't get hurt). I finally found out this morning that it is a fracture, and apparently I'll need a cast on for 4 weeks. That really bites.

So I won't be able to do anything physical with the hand, but otherwise I'm still planning on going to karate class. It may be a little difficult to bike with one hand in a cast (I think mountain biking is definitely out for at least a month).

I have to pay particular attention to the food I eat as my exercise will suffer a little. Arghhh!

My weight hasn't really come down at all in the last few weeks, but I've lost 3/4" off my waist in about 3 weeks. I may be adding a little muscle offsetting any fat loss. We'll see how the next little while goes!

Hello mate - I did miss you, and I'm pleased to see you back. Sorry to hear about the sporting injury - but, well.... still got yer legs aint yer?

Thanks! Glad to be back...and I do still have my legs, I'll just have to use them a little more while my hand heals.

Actually I'm on my third beer, drowning my hand sorrows in beer. Probably not the brightest move...

I'll make sure that I eat well over the weekend. Unfortunately, I have to wait until Monday to get my cast (I broke it last Saturday). Again, not the brightest move, but I thought it was just bruised. Ah well. I guess we learn from our mistakes! It's just been a frustrating week for me...

12 pack,
Why do you have to wait sooo long to get your cast? A week seems like a little much don't ya think? I think i'd be ......(thinking of nice word).... complaining to someone. You aren't mixing alcohol with pain meds are you? Naughty! Naughty! That can really mess you up... and not in a good way. Anyway, hope you get feeling better soon.
Jess

Well, I didn't go see the doctor until Thursday night, then got x-rays on Friday, and then they couldn't get me into the fracture clinic or whatever it is until Monday. I didn't think it was broken, I just kept waiting another day and another day to see if it got a lot better. I should have gone the day after it happened....

And I'm just taking Advil, so nothing too strong...and other than last night, not too much alcohol either..

Oh ok, I understand how it goes now. I've been there before. The wait still kind of sucks though. At least the pain isn't unbearable.

Glad you're not mixing alcohol and pain meds. Good boy :) I accidently mixed alcohol with cold meds one time. Trust me....don't do that...lol! It made me pretty sick. I had taken the meds in the morning and the didn't drink until that night so I thought I would be fine....NOPE! Wrecked my whole night. It was New Years Eve and I was suppose to be throwing a New Years Eve party. Lets just say, that got canceled!

Hope the doc fixes you up right tomorrow.

As of today, aside from your hand injury, how do you feel about achieving your weight loss goals?

Unfortunately, I don't have any progress to report. Only got on one 2hr karate class last week, and a couple of short workouts at home. I've been eating ok, but not well enough to make any progress. Plus the three nights of drinking last week didn't help either.

With the hand, I have an appointment on Friday....but not with a cast person....with a reconstructive surgeon.....I don't know really what's going on yet, but I guess I'll find out Friday morning....this kid may need surgery. That sucks...

hey, thought of you and your bike riding tonight when i was posting. my friend and i rode our bikes today. it was fun. hadn't done it in a year or more. we decided to add it to our routine once or twice a week - extra workouts, not replacing jogging.

course down here it doesn't get cold like it does where you live; so we should be able to ride all winter.

i hope your hand doesn't require surgery. *crosses fingers*
