12packAbs Diary

Back from the dead...

Well...I'm back...hand is doing better...weight loss....mmm....not so much....

I haven't lost any weight in the last month unfortunately...weight seems to be holding steady at about 215. After a 2 or 3 week absence, I am back to karate this week - 4 classes for about 7.5hrs. Eating has been so-so....drinking....well....as I type this I'm on my third night of a few beers...(note to self....beer is not so good for losing weight and getting a 6pack....)

So anyways, I got a splint made (finally!!) 2 weeks after the actual break, and wore it for 2 weeks...then it was just annoying me, so I stopped wearing it....I've regained a good portion of the flexibility in my hand, but it needs more time before I can do much with it...

Hopefully next week (after 2 days of thanksgiving turkey) I'll get back to eating well and losing weight...

Welcome back!! :D:D:D

Looks like you left just as I was getting comfy here... Hi!! My name is Pequin (not penquin - don't make me bring out the diagram!! ..lol)

Have a great night ... & happy turkey day (do canadians eat turkey on thanksgiving?)

Yes we do! And lots of it...I had turkey on the Sunday and Monday...haven't tried the deep fried turkey though...I hear it's tastey...but not so good for the weight loss...

Well...it's the middle of October...and I haven't really lost any weight...still holding strong at about 215....argghhh....

I've been very active (except for the three weeks after I broke my hand)...and I figure that I must have gained at least a little muscle in the last couple of months...(at least I hope so)...

Too much beer last week...and the week before that...but this week I'm going to try much harder...eat well, continue with 4 karate classes a week (2hrs each) and avoid the beer...that's the plan anyway....

Welcome back again! :D

My sister and B-i-l fry a turkey every year - it's sooo yummy but you have to eat it fresh from the cooker or it looses something.

Sounds like you're doing well despite the injury - good luck with the plan!! :D:D

Thank you very much for the encouragement.

Last night we ended up going for a couple of beers after karate.....I just can't say no....I'll be going straight home tonight after class though....

I'm feeling pretty motivated to eat better and to hopefully have some good progress to report in the coming weeks.

I'm missing the cycling....everytime I drive by a cyclist...I miss it...The hand is better, so maybe if the weather is good, I'll go out for a Sunday ride this weekend...my butt will be pretty sore after a 6 weeks or so of no riding...ouch

How's the riding going these days Mike?

Food today so far:

Breakfast: Two slices of whole grain toast with a little Becel and some cheddar cheese, Yogurt
Snack: Banana, Raw plain almonds
Lunch: Two bean burritos (Whole-wheat & flax seed wraps, refried beans, a little cheddar cheese and salsa), baby spinach with olive oil/balsamic vinegar dressing
Afternoon snacks: Banana, Apple and a few more almonds
Before Karate class: Turkey breast on whole grain bread

Looks like a great food list!

I can't wait to loose enough to comfortable ride my bike again. I haven't been on it in years! My poor bike must be so lonley hanging there.. :( lol Thankfully my dad used to ride a lot so he knows how to store them long term.

Have a great day!!

I usully forget to mention in my food diaries, the amount of coffee I drink. Some days (on the weekends) I may not have any or a couple of cups. But during the week, I routinely have 6+ cups of coffee a day. Yes, I know it's not the best thing, but I don't usually get enough sleep, so I need coffee to keep me going at work. I haven't made much of an effort to cut back these days.

I do also drink A LOT of water. All day.

And I've been taking Greens first thing in the morning...although my container has one more serving left and I have to go get some more.

Wow that's a lot of coffee!! Maybe the reason you can't sleep is because of the coffee? I don't really drink much caffine - more of a treat when I want a good buzz. :D

What are Greens?

How's the riding going these days Mike?

I haven't been on the bike in ages... Being here in Northern Ontario the weather isn't exactly suitable for biking anymore. I'd love to get myself a trainer but even then I don't have any room to put the damn thing.

I've been hitting the gym pretty regular though.

I hear ya Mike...it takes a hell of a lot of discipline and motivation to get on that trainer regularly..

Pequin - it's a time thing with the sleep for me (not enough time to get enough sleep). Coffee just helps be get through the day. I don't have much problems falling asleep these days...and getting up...man I hate getting up.

I found when I was in school full time (ahhh....many a fond memory....) that I would do really well on 9 hours of sleep every night. Unfortunately, I can't spare that much time in bed these days...

Well Wishes, things have definitely been up and down over the past 6 weeks or so. I was doing ok, then broke my hand, then I wasn't doing too good. I tried to stay positive, but there were times where I found it pretty tough and I was feeling pretty bummed out.

I've been back at it for about 3 weeks now, and today I find myself starting to feel better. I seem to be walking a little taller and feeling a bit better today. I'm making a renewed effort to eat better, and take my supplements regularly as well. Right now the biggest issue for me is not getting enough sleep....been going to bed too late for the past three weeks so I'm feeling the effects of that.

I'm really enjoying karate - I'm learning a lot and getting into shape (slowly, but surely). Going to try and get to bed at a decent time tonight. I should be tuckered out after tonight's class.

And as a side note, I am proud to say that last night I passed on joining the boys for beer after class. Well, there's a first for everything.

Last Night
1hr before karate: 1/2 bagel with chedder
After karate: the other 1/2 bagel with cheddar
9pm: Baby spinach with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and some yogurt

Today
Breakfast: Egg whites, lean ham, beans and 2 slices of whole grain toast with becel
Morning: 2 extra large coffees with cream (no sugar)
Lunch: BBQ chicken, rice and broccoli

Yeah i fully understand how hard it is getting back into it - but you do find yourself feeling that much better, and walking that much taller eh :)

Good on you for getting back on the horse so to speak.

Rock on!

Howdy 12pack - just stoppin by to see how you're doing! Have a great night... and don't stay up too late! ;)

I know!!!! I could hardly believe it myself! But, truth be told, if I didn't have some reading to do for the next morning, I probably would have joined them for a beer or two....hee hee....

Thanks for stopping by everyone....everybody has new pics up...looking good ladies...(and your doing well too Mike...for a guy....)

Food today
Breakfast: 1/2 bagel with peanunt butter, banana
Snack: Banana, raw plain almonds
Lunch: 2 bean burritos (refried beans, salsa and a bit of cheese), baby spinach with olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Snack: Apple and cottage cheese
Dinner: Chicken nuggets (with plum sauce), oven fries (with ketchup) and 2 oreo cookies

Dinner tonight was a bit of a cheat night for me, but I enjoyed it. After three nights in a row of karate, man am I sore. So tonight I'm just chillin in front of the tv, surfing the net and maybe do a really quick workout (pushups, crunches and planks).
