12packAbs Diary

Thanks Ladies...it's nice to be back...

So far I've had 3 acupunture treatments and I've notice that I've had a few nights of deeper sleep...it seems to working! Yippee!

Now if only I could get back into those size 33 jeans....that'd be something!:)

I'm trying something a bit different for breakfast these days....

I'm eating slow-cook oatmeal (the kind that takes 10min or so on the stove, not the 1-min or instant oats) and adding a protein shake to it. I've been making the oatmeal in the microwave and since I find it tastes kinda like cardboard, I thought I'd make up a protein shake, add it in and mix it up. I actually like it! That way I get good low glycemic index carbs with fibre and I get a morning dose of protein. My usual breakfasts have been pretty low in protein most of the time (except when I have egg whites at breakfast).

I've been using a chocolate shake....Evopro, which I guess is the protein used in Muscle Milk. I've used a few of that company's products and I think they make good stuff (CytoSport I think). And no, I don't work for the company....

I've been a little inspired by my little sister (she's a teenager). She has gotten in such good shape in the last year, it's simply amazing. She's eating really well (and seems to have WAY more willpower than I do) and working out too. She's a beast! And I'm jealous.

interesting... oatmeal and a shake... I may have to try that myself...

I've decided that oatmeal is probably best thing to get me started in the morning now. Bacon and eggs won't help me that much in getting fitter.

Thanks for the tip 12pack!

btw, acupunture is amazing. I get it done for stress on occasion. I swear by it!

Yeowzers! What a week that was...

Lady in a minivan drove into me on Tuesday and my neck has been killing me. I've been seeing my massage therapist and acupunturist and today it's way better than it was last week.

I also had a grading for my next belt in karate on Saturday, and my neck was sore to begin with. That test just about made me pass out!! Anyone done BURPIES?!? If not, do a search on them then try out a few dozen. We did over a hundred and man, that almost killed me.

Two nights of beer and wings last week, and fried food on Saturday and Sunday...oops... Hey what do you mean that stuff doesn't help me get in shape?!? LOL

Other than that, I've had a great week!

Today's food:

Breakfast: Slow cook oatmeal with a protein shake and frozen blueberries. I mixed it all up...purple oatmeal looks a little strange....
Snack: Banana
Lunch: Turkey breast on flax seed bread, and a bean & lentil salad
Snack: Baby carrots and cottage cheese
Dinner/snack before karate: Probably a sandwich or a bagel
Snack after karate: Probably a salad and a protein shake or something like that

So last night's karate class with a killer...I was drenched in sweat (it was awesome!) I love the way I feel after pushing myself like that...

unfortunately I gave in to peer pressure and had some beer and wings after class..damn it....

Today
Breakfast: Slow cook oatmeal with some blueberries and a protein shake
Snack: Apple and a yogurt
Lunch: Tuna in a whole wheat wrap, baby spinach salad with oil/flax oil and balsamic vinegar
Snack: Cottage cheese and baby carrots

Tonight is going to be a night off from working out...body is sore and I could use the rest...then I'll be ready to go for Wednesday night.

Burpees...LOL! We used to do those in gym class. I've never heard anyone else mention them before! I'll have to see if I can do one. Yes, I said 'one'. :D

Good for your sister to start now :) ...I wish I had. I wasted so many good years being fat, I wish I'd started right away.

They're still used in martial arts, military and sports conditioning...they are such a good overall conditioning exercise...but DAMN IT THEY ARE HARD....

I wasn't in bad shape when I was her age (not great either)...and then it all went down hill in my mid-twenties...but she looks amazing! And then she tells me that she wants to lose another 10lbs...we don't think she needs to but you are the best judge of what makes you happy and feels good.

mmm burpies - they do those at my sons school. Nast nasty idea for exercise.

Im sure its very good though :D

Ah yes M, you must have done one or two of those in karate, eh? Fond memories I bet!

At the end of Monday's class I did 15 just for fun...I'm going to attempt to do them regularly...that way next time I won't nearly pass out (at least that's the plan).

Took the night off from working out last night. My body was feeling tired and I needed to spend a night at home with the family.

Meals for today

Breakfast: Egg whites and a slice of flax bread
Morning snack: Banana and a protein shake (1/2 scoop)
Lunch: Tuna in a whole wheat wrap, bean & lentil salad
Afternoon snack: Cottage cheese & baby carrots
Later afternoon snack: Protein shake & the rest of my bean salad (that could mean a little trouble later in the evening, methinks)

Karate tonight....and I'm going to do my VERY BEST not to go out with the boys for beer and wings. It'll be straight home for a salad with tuna...or something like that...

It's tonight (Wednesday)...they peer pressured me into it on Monday night, but I'm going to try and be strong.

These guys are all lean and can basically eat whatever they want without worrying about it....I look at a chicken wing and my pants get snug....

It'll usually be around 10 wings or so...with a couple of pints of brew...so I could do a lot worse, but they're just soooooo bad for you....
