Sparrows Experiment

spin instructor was back today. yippee. Just did the hour spin class and called it a day. Still trying to recoupe

I bought my bike for 100 dollars at wal*mart.

... I'm such a wannabe.

I'll give you more than FF to rent that bike

I was recommended a very cool site today by someone on a triathlete blog. Its a 7 step precise sizing method so you get a more accurate fit for the bike. I was surprised it spit out a 49 frame. yipes, thats small!

WS Recommended Sizes
Frame Size center-to-center: 47 cm
Frame Size center-to-top: 49 cm
Overall Reach: 64.96 cm
Saddle Height: 63.92 cm
Handlebar Width: 42 cm

Your Measurements
Height: 65.00 in
Sternum Notch: 53.00 in
Inseam Length: 28.50 in
Arm Length: 23.50 in
Shoulder Width: 16.50 in
Flexiblity: 7

Does it come with a basket, streamers and training wheels as options? :)

Did you decide on what you're doing with NROL?

seriously huh. ha.

no we're deciding tomorrow. We may create our own program between hypertrophy and fat loss 3

49cm seems really small for a 5'5" woman. Here is another frame-sizing web page, . For 5'5", it recommends a 51cm center of bottom bracket to top of top tube, but based on your inseam, it reccomends a 48cm.

What size is your current frame? And, what is wrong with it? Aluminum frames are fine - my Klein is aluminum, in fact, Klein never made anything but aluminum frames.

Yes I thought it seemed super small too. 51cm is what my current center of bottom bracket to top of top tube is and its perfect. Its the top tube length thats not perfect. perhaps I need to measure again ;)

I wasn't saying aluminum is bad at all but I want carbon forks, thats all, just to absorb more impact. My current frame is 54cm. Giant's "medium". I've decided I hate compact geometry. :(

I hear you on the harsh ride of aluminum bikes. My aluminum Klein has oversized tubes, an aluminum fork and seatpost and is a very fast but very harsh ride -but I love that bike!

You can get an aluminum fork and seatpost and with your Ultegra group be as good as new, if you are okay with the dimensions of your current frame.

Lifted forEVER today. Stingo we opted to go with hypertrophy 1 for 3 weeks and then fat loss 3 weeks, alternate until we've done them both for the time specified. Who knows what kind of results that will yeild. maybe it'll be good, or maybe we'll be UNdoing what we're DOing. we'll see. I like experiments ;)
Anyway, today we added a 3rd buddy to our group so it took well over an hour to do our full routine since there are 5 sets and so much rest between them. I don't think she'll be a regular though. hopefully not. Here are some numbers:
incline bench (DB): 35
cable seated row: 110
shoulder press: 30
wide grip pulldown: 90
close grip bench 75
Its a new mentality trying to do only 5 reps as heavy as possible. I'm not used to maxing out when I lift so its possible I could do even more on some of those after I get over that block. SO we didn't get to cardio and I really could have used it but I'm going to do a track workout with a running club tonight since I don't work. The pool is being drained for cleaning and repair

Yeah those 5x5's take a while to do. Since I don't have barbells, I opted to substitute the close grip bp with a decline neutral grip (palms facing each other) bp with dumbbells. How'd you like the 5x5 protocol?

I don't like it. I was ready to be done after 3, its very tedious but it could have just been the gab fest we had going on and trying to move 3 individuals through the routine at once.

uh um.... you are "with it" over here. I will just try and keep up. it feels like yer britches are on fire! I like it!

I swam under water all the way accrossed the pool tonight! yes I did!! It was a lil challenge by eswardo-- He says- "betcha can't swim to th other end without a breath."

i almost blew chunks catching my breath, but i did it.

Let's see ya do that with yer new bike! nannner nannner nannner

haha I make the Masters swimmers do that quite frequently. it builds up lung volume. We do all sorts of hypoxic breathing and weak side breathing sets too. Its great training for triathlon. They hate me for it. I went to run track workout tonight and it was lame. I basically ran by myself around and around the stupid track not really knowing what we were supposed to do. lol. I got there like 5 min late so maybe I missed "running 101" I did 4 miles in 30 min, 7:30 pace and it felt comfortable. I was surprised at the end when I realized I was going tha tpace. I run so much better in the dark and in the cold.

you should be impressed with yourself! Its pretty hard!! Only a few in my group can do it and they look blue when they make it.

spin class and 2 mile run. Legs were tired today from the less recovery due to last nights workout. I had to cut the run short, the shins threatened to flare. At least I'm listening to them now. Put some arnica gel and ice on them and they feel great now. I had room in my morning to do more but I refrained. There's no need at this point in the game

hey Christi!

MAN long time no see, how are ya girl?
