Alligatorob's Diary

Today was a good day, I ate well, exercised, and feel pretty good tonight. Spent an hour and 45 min at the gym today, I was more tired than usual, but it felt good. Also did about 40 min of low intensity physical therapy exercises for my shoulder, I can see how they will help but it does take a while to get through them.

More Covid reports, another of my wife's colleagues tested positive and another person at the gym did as well. Seems like there are cases everywhere. I am trying to stick with safe gym visits 3 times a week. I wear a mask most of the time, even though it is not required when exercising. I only lower mine when I have trouble breathing. There are not many people at the gym so distancing is pretty easy. Don't know where this is headed. Here in the US we may all get it sooner or later...

I'm afraid it does seem inevitable that the majority in the US will get it. Keep taking as much care as you can, Rob. We don't want you getting sick :grouphug:
Edit: Rob- have you heard about this? Authorities don't know how monolith ended up in the middle Utah desert

I wouldn't resign oneself to getting it yet--those vaccines sound very hopeful...it is too bad to have cases so close to home like that.
Do you not have a good gym set up at home? Or do you like to go there just for a change of scenery?

Anyways good to hear you continuing to have good days!

Not only do we have vaccines on the horizon but treatment is improving all the time as well so even if everyone did end up getting it it would be beneficial to get it as late as possible.

I have enough cloth masks now to wear only the most comfortable ones and still have plenty even when it's getting close to laundry time. Very convenient.
Me too !

rob I would be a bit worried about the contact at the gym , seems to be a bit of a problem now . P.ease be careful . They closed our gyms here for a reason

Today was a good day, ate well, exercised and I feel good tonight! Not sure what exercise I will get tomorrow, Thanksgiving, but I am sure I will stay on my eating track, or I'll sure try. We are having a socially distancing Thanksgiving, having some folks over but will spread out and wear masks when not eating. No passing around of food, sitting too far apart for that. A couple of the grandkids have volunteered to be masked servers. Hope it will be safe.

Yes, I think it is inevitable that a lot of us will get it, hopefully not a majority but maybe. I had not heard about the monolith, that is interesting, I suspect the story will eventually come out, a kind of desert version of a crop circle I guess.

My fear is that the vaccine's general availibility will come too late for a lot of people, sure hope I am wrong... I do have a reasonable set up for exercising at home, and that is why I only go to the gym 2 or 3 days a week. I only go when I have the trainer. Today there were never more than 2 other people in the exercise rooms with me, and no one came within 15 ft (5 m) of me, so I felt safe. If ever it gets crowded I leave.

I suppose so, but I sure don't want to get it...

Thanks Petal and I do worry about it, and do what I can to be careful. Distancing and taking off my gym clothes and throwing them in the wash as soon as I get home. I also wear a fresh mask and throw it in the wash as well. This is a small town and the gym is big and uncrowded, even under normal times, that kind of helps.

That's funny, LaMa. Was it planted there to make the ad for Utah, or has the ad been made because of it. Hmmm....?

It was a good day, I ate well (particularly for Thanksgiving), exercised a little and I feel good tonight. My exercise was limited to the ~40 min of physical therapy things for my shoulder, low impact exercise. It was a busy day, I was responsible for the turkey and dressing, and I did some work with my tractor implements.
Thanks for the video LaMa, I had not seen it, pretty funny.

I think the "ad" was a joke, or maybe it was anyway. Our deserts attract some strange art and the like, my guess is this is just another. See for example the Spiral Jetty (https://www.diaart.org/visit/visit-our-locations-sites/robert-smithson-spiral-jetty ) or Sun Tunnels (Sun Tunnels ). Our desert is also home to what maybe the world's smallest unrecognized independent country, Zaquistan (Most People Have No Idea This Tiny Independent Country Exists In Utah ).

Yup, definitely a Late Show "ad" and the "monolith" (which isn't even a monolith because it's not made of stone) looks like either an art installation or a prank to me.

Yesterday was a good day, I ate well, got some exercise, and felt good. I spent a lot of the day back on my shelf building project, got it all assembled and have started the painting process.

Thanks LaMa, I did enjoy our Thanksgiving. We had people over for a kind of socially distanced meal People were quite spread out and wore masks off and on, not perfect but not terrible.

Not a bad day, not my best but not awful. I ate about 100 calories more than I have been, and ended the evening with a bit of key lime pie, just one. And again my exercise was limited to the low impact phyisical therapy stuff, but I did it. I was pretty busy, finished my shelf project, paint and all!
Fingers crossed Thanksgiving as a whole won´t be a superspreader event...
Me too, ours was safer than most, but still just having the event carries some risk... Lots of noise here about canceling Thanksgiving but not a lot of people did.
Rob sounds like you were very good over the holiday . You are doing great
Thanks Petal, I appreciate your kind words. And I do think I did pretty well foodwise on Thanksgiving.
Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving, Rob.
Thanks Cate, I did. Do y'all have any kind of Thanksgiving equivilant? It is really the fall harvest holiday, I think a lot of the world has one. Yours of course would have to be in about 6 months.

We do have harvest festivals but they're usually in September, or even August. Celebrating the bounty of nature and agriculture while cooped up inside seems strange to me. O course by late November you can slaughter so there's more to eat, but then you wouldn't be eating turkey... I'm clearly overthinking this.

We don’t celebrate it at all, Rob.
I guess I assumed everyone had some kind of harvest festival, looks like I was wrong.

I think the actual time of ours, late November, dates back to the US Civil war when Abraham Lincoln declared a holiday of thanksgiving for winning some battles. After the war to help heal the country the all to familiar Pilgrim myth/story got adapted. In Canada where Thanksgiving is also celebrated its done in October, without the myths so far as I know.
hard to believe they didn't think to make the monolith to 1 x 4 x 9 dimensions.
Thanks for the video Flyer. Now the thing has disappeared, just as mysteriously NPR Choice page . A strange thing...
