Cate's Diary

Hi, Amy, Liza, LaMa & Em. I haven't heard any news about Archie yet, so am not sure what's happening. K would be checking out his medical records, but she is also busy with getting everything ready to move on Friday. The pup that I was going to see today was adopted yesterday. I will remain hopeful.
I'm not in any hurry to travel at all, but it's funny that dreaming about it & looking at possibilities was enough to make me realise that I'm nowhere near ready.
I played golf with K yesterday & it was lovely. I forgot the battery for my motorised push buggy & had to use an old one that's left outside. That was very hard work as it was very wonky & only has 2 wheels. I shouldn't forget my battery again! We sat outside & had a drink afterwards & as we were leaving she said: "See you next Wednesday?" Deal. Playing 9 holes is just perfect. I might do that twice a week, but with someone different each time, except for Wednesdays.
I weighed myself this morning, after already deciding to have a fast day today. I'm ok with what it said but will try to do 2 a week again. I'm not stressing about it.

Sounds like a good day with the golfing cate despite the wonky push-buggy!
Good luck with the fasting!

That's why we have imagination: to try out things in our head instead of making all mistakes irl :)
Your golf day sounds pleasant and it would be great if you could do it regularly again.

Thanks, Liza. I did ok with the fasting- about 700 cals maybe. Anything between 500-800 cals twice a week is what I'm aiming for. I'm looking forward to my next golf game. K is such a nice person.
Hi, LaMa. I'll make a point of playing at least once a week. The women's comp I don't miss at all. It's too long a day & involves B1 & B2 & I don't miss them one little bit. I must make some more calls to keep up with the ones I do like.

We have a younger friend calling in today. He's cleaning the carpets in L's house before she moves out & had lost her phone number. I said I had an iso chair set up outside for visitors & he said to put the kettle on at 12. Even that feels weird. I like him & G gets on really well with him & his dad, who apparently is very bored with being stuck at home.

That's nice that you're hanging out with people you like. I have also been using this quarantine to stick to the people that are good for my mental health.

The dog part sounds exciting, maybe you will have second thoughts once you have more details. Your concerns about the energy requirement are valid, but perhaps with G you will be able to have some help.

K sounds really nice. How long have you known her?

It's nice to have a friend that you can just go out and do 9 no-stress holes with regularly, Cate. That's absolute gold. I'm not a golfer, but when I do I much prefer 9 holes. That's plenty for me :)

Knowing what you do and don't want is half the battle. Will you be able to give up the competition and just play socially twice a week?

Yes i agree with everyone--keeping all the nice parts of golf and doing away with the rest sounds perfect.
I like the sound of your iso chair :)
Well done with the fasting. Don't know how you do it!!

Sticking to the people we like should be a permanent thing & I am sure going to try to continue on with that. I have known K1 for about 6 years & met her through golf. She used to always play with another woman, who she travelled to golf with as they live near one another. She doesn't play any more as she has an injured shoulder. I think if we get this little dog, rather than a puppy we'll be well able to satisfy his energy needs. I'm not concerning myself too much about it & will leave it in the hands of K9 (I'll call her that as she's a vet) & the owners as to whether we end up with him or not.

I agree, Jack. 9 holes is perfect. I would be happy to do that once or twice a week & skip competition golf with a whole bunch of women.

Probably when life goes back to "normal" I'll go back to comp, but who knows?

I'm done with putting up with people I don't like & things I don't like that's for sure.
Our iso chair will work out well :)
I can't or don't want to do a full-on fast, but doing a semi-fast at least once a week, but preferably two, I can manage ok. I did it for months a few years ago & successfully lost weight, but then got slack. I really need to get back into it properly. What I like about 5:2 is that you only feel like you're dieting 2 days of the week.

G & I went for a 4 km walk this morning & got home just before it started raining. I have written a letter to K9's parents who sent us a beautiful card from the Netherlands. I typed it up so I could play around with it & now I need to handwrite it onto a card I bought. It has a beautiful photograph of a platypus on it, which I think they will like.
I might go for another walk today as the sun is out again. I just don't feel like doing either housework or gardening. I really thought I would spring clean the place, but have not felt like it at all. Oh, well!

Haha, I hear you on the cleaning aspect. I did get the black gloves on today and sort out the drain in the shower, which has been annoying me for ages - hair in the drain is so disgusting, I always feel like I'm going to vomit when I dislodge it! :ack2: Quick job, but glad I did something to make the house nicer today. Tomorrow I will tackle the bathroom mirror. Is it possible to floss without spatters? Let me know your life hacks, :).

K9 is R's girlfriend I think? - she sounds fab and her parents also.

I'm done with putting up with people I don't like & things I don't like that's for sure.
Yes, me too - or with eating things I don't really like.
That's really great about the nine holes of no-stress golf - and about K's possible dog candidate. It would be so good to be making the little dog's life happier, too. :)

Oh, Em. Cleaning hair out of drains is a disgusting job. I don't think it's possible to floss without making a hell of a mess of the bathroom mirror. I do have a little bottle of metho nearby to clean them off though.
K9 is R's GF. She is ab fab! I watched that show last night. They are so funny. Totally over the top. I watch anything with Joanna Lumley in. Have you seen her travel shows?
I had an old Winter standby for breakfast this morning. I love getting it together at night & then it's ready to go in the morning. My favourite breakfast is 2 eggs with 1/4 avocado on sourdough oat toast, but I don't want to eat too many eggs.
BF- 60g organic oats, 1 tsp each (some heaped, some not) of pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, psyllium husks, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds & goji berries; about a cup of almond milk, some sultanas, a small banana & a teaspoon of honey. I heated it up in the microwave for 3 minutes, stirring after each minute. I was SO full afterwards! Maybe cut down the oatmeal next time. I am experimenting with finding something that will keep me going until lunchtime without me feeling hungry.
Hi, Amy. The 9-holes of stress-free golf is really good. I'm not going to nag K9 about the dog at all & will leave it in her hands. If he settles down & becomes happy where he is that's a good outcome as well, so I'm mentally preparing for that eventuality, just in case.

Hi, Cate - gorgeous morning here right now, and I should post quickly and then go and walk a dog... but I saw this and wanted to ask:
How many is too many? I used to only have maximum one a day, but from here (this WLF site, I mean( I've seen that people often have two eggs for breakfast - and I've given that a go (I did this morning - with corn, capsicum and spring onion) - andit's certainly made for good, filling starts to the day, and boosted my nutrition - but maybej I should hold off a bit again? How many eggs in a week would be good, would you think?

Hi, Amy. I'm in two minds about how many eggs anyone should have. I could happily eat 2 every morning & possibly would if I was living on my own. Somehow it just doesn't seem right. No logic really.

Nice to get in some good walks in the sun for sure. Not the time for housecleaning when it's nice out...but then i can find every excuse to put off house cleaning! I do love the results when i get it done though. The pictures of your house always looks so nice and beautiful. Mine always seems to be a bit of a mess! Probably a reflection of my inner life:confused:

I haven't looked this up so don't take it as gospel truth but I think the rule used to be no more than one egg a day (and maybe no more than 5 a week or something?) due to the amount of cholesterol they contain but that "rule" was scrapped because... they mostly increase your HDL? I'm not aware of a current consensus on the matter.

Yep. Me too.
Maybe my house is a reflection of me. It looks well- balanced & tidy, but deep down is a mess. Only kidding. I like being tidy, but hate actually vacuuming & mopping.

I really don't care so much what they say about eggs any more. I know I love them & probably have about 8 a week. I'm ok with that.
Got in a 3.75 km walk & nicked some more lemons, but left a sticky note with my phone number saying "Nicked some lemons. Hope you don't mind. Let me know if you do. Happy to exchange for Muscat". I have about 10 days supply of lemons now. Their tree is really loaded with them. They are delicious.

Cate lovely reading about your golf and K9 and a possible dog coming to live. Also about your house needing a good clean . Mine too . I have let it go the past few weeks but will get back to it now.
You are getting in some nice walks .

Petal- so happy to see that you had posted. :beating:
I might refocus on housework tomorrow I think. I have been very slack about it & that won't do. I feel that walks are now an essential part of my day.
