Petals diary

Hooray! the bar has gone! (that will sound cryptic, but there was a bar here a little while ago, blocking me from replying. :) )
I love Rob's post demonstrating the huge change in how things were and now are for you, Petal - and all done by wonderful you,:party:just on sheer decisiveness! And I bet your SW Club are absolutely delighted, too - this is so good! :) :) :)

You're doing marvelously well and I love it :grouphug:

That post was really powerful Rob. Petal, I am so glad for you that you are in a happier place now. It's so difficult to get out of the black hole sometimes, but you have done it! Well done. :grouphug:
It’s always a work in progress Em as you know but we keep climbing away .
Thanks Cate . It was lovely reading all that back . We should all revisit our diaries I suppose . I’m still getting lots of emails but the decluttering is working .

thanks Lama and Jack and Amy for all your kind words.
Well I went to the dentist and my teeth are fine . I have my regular clean next week so that should help . So possibly just some sensitivity and a question mark over an old crown so they will keep an eye on it . Mostly they have been fine anyway over the last 5 days so it all settled. I had X-rays done too .

I haven’t much else to report as when at work and school days not much else is going on . Food is ok so happy there . I am exhausted by bedtime and thankfully sleeping well .

Oh, it's such a terrific feeling, to have been to the dentist and been found to be quite all right! Cheers! And now that's the dentist over and done with for the next year - apart from the cleaning, and that's not too bad - at least, better than a filling!

Sounds like dental time for us all . Thankfully my teeth feel fine still today .
Had a diet wobble today . I was out for longer than expected, was unprepared and hungry and i definitely binged a little when I got home . I am not happy . Luckily not on loads of rubbish as I don’t keep it At home but on peanuts , my SW bar , grapes and a full fat curry ( made with full fat coconut milk , normally I use light , was a leftover from my sons meals) and few extra bits . Ok reading it it was at least wholesome food and homemade mostly and I did chop an apple in the curry . But if I had cake or chocolate I most likely would have had it. So I am no where near ready to let that stuff In my house still and possibly will never be .

I wouldn't worry too much about the full fat coconut milk - I actually think full fat things are better for you overall - maybe not calorie-wise, but nutritionally, for sure. I could be wrong, but that's my belief. Sort of a 'whole foods' thing.

And yeah, I think a ban on cake and chocolate in the house forever is perfectly fine! Who needs 'em?

A diet wobble is just that, Petal. It's done & dusted. Do you have a snack pack in your bag? I always have jerky but used to have raw almonds weighed out in a zip-lock bag in my handbag for emergencies. Hunger is what drove you to eat when you got home. If you can stave that off for long enough to get a healthy meal you won't be as tempted.
But, yes. I don't want cake in my house either.

Question: what's the advantage of using light coconut milk over full-fat plus water? Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me they just add water and stabilizers in the factory, not extra taste.

Terrific about your preventive action (ie not having rubbish food in the house) coming to the rescue!
And yeah, it was all good nourishing food, even if a bit heartier than usual - and a wobble is just a wobble - you're still on the bike! :D

Emily I am inclined to agree to an extent on the full fat . I actually eat full fat cheese mostly but never more than 40g a day . laMa I looked up the ingredients and there are stabilisers in both . However the full one tastes so so much better . I think I might to that maybe . I never have a huge portion anyway and it’s probably more satisfying .
Yes Cate no cake here . I do normally have a snack bag . I will spend some time this weekend organising some . Some nuts and seeds and always make sure I have an apple . I normally am good . And maybe a few drinks in the boot of car . I often get a skinny latte when out but was really pushed for time .
Thanks Rob and Amy .

You are all great support and inspiration.

I'm taking this as an example for me to follow, organising snack food ahead of time to fend off a sudden need for nutrition - love the sound of the apple, especially!
