Cate's Diary

Saw the drop I needed to see & that will make my next FD feel easier. I'll weigh twice a week on Tuesdays & Fridays, after doing a 500 cal "fast" on Mondays & Thursdays.
Off to town today for a golf lesson :D

I had to google ‘echidna’. The baby ones are cute. :)

The espressos and bird watching with G sounds lovely. I hope I have something like that one day.

Thanks, LaMa. Doing a 500 cal "fast" twice a week I find hard at first, but it should get easier. If I hadn't had a drop I would have felt very disappointed. We just got home after a big day. We enjoyed our golf lessons & got a lot out of them. Now we have to remember what we were shown. I bought a new golf shirt with a voucher that G won, plus the voucher covered our lessons. That was a bonus. I also got a new BP monitor. We bought & delivered a carton of bubbly piccolos to my friend, M who gave me her clubs & a pair of earrings I bought in Greece. She loved them. G got a set of covers for his clubs with another voucher he won. We had a Chinese quick meal in there.
R & his GF are visiting this weekend. How lovely. We haven't seen him for a month.

That's sweet that you were thinking about him. I have hardly talked to him for a while & am looking forward to seeing him & his lovely GF. I'm chuffed actually.
G's vouchers are very useful :)

I totally hear you on that Cate. I think it's so encouraging when we see movement on the scale (well the downward movement anyhow!) It helps to stay motivated!

I think for me a lot of the challenge around a fast is just thinking about it. I wouldn't mind even just trying to stop eating after say 6 or 7pm. That would be a real challenge for me but I like the idea of giving the body a longer break.

That's great the golf lessons helped. Yes now to solidify it by practicing it a lot!

Thanks, LaMa, Petal & Liza.
I am going to try to eat more during the day & less at night too, Liza. It's so much better for you. Today is my women's golf day & hopefully, I will be able to put some of the lesson into practice. :)
Because I will fast tomorrow I will make sure I eat enough today. I had 1 toast with 2/3 nut butter & 1/3 Vegemite & 1 toast with apricot jam. Lunch will be a mixture of salmon, boiled egg, 1/4 avocado, mixed with some rhubarb chutney & very low-fat mayo on Ryvitas. I have a protein/muesli bar in my golf bag if I can't wait for lunch while I'm playing. Dinner tonight will be Venison fry with lots of veggies, followed by fresh fruit. Just typing that has made me feel like adding some cherries to my lunch. We bought some yesterday & they are delicious. They are almost at the end of their season.

I watched a few episodes of the Goop Lab on Netflix and they were talking about the benefits of fasting on it. Studies have shown it's great to do a fast a couple of times a year, as the body sort of purges itself of all the bad stuff and holds onto the good. It was interesting.

Hi, LaMa. I just re-read my last post which was a mistake on a FD. My stomach is actually rumbling. I'll have a boiled egg soon I think, after only having had 150g of low-fat yoghurt for breakfast.
Hi, Em. There is a lot of evidence that fasting is beneficial. I think being hungry for a couple of days a week won't do me any harm & you do feel much better for it. If I continue to lose weight I will be very happy.
Yesterday's steps were 11,544, 6.77 km, 242 active minutes & 18 floors. It was great seeing everything going green- ticking all the boxes :)
Today I will eat lots of salad items I think. I called into the little fruit & veggies shop on my way home from golf & bought some little tomatoes, Lebanese cucumbers & delicious looking celery. They grow a lot of their own veggies.
My lunch will be 2 hard-boiled eggs, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes.... I just said that to G & he said "Do you want a warm beef salad?" Yes please!
My stomach is hilarious. What a racket!

So satisfying, isn´t it?

Sounds like an awesome resource. Knowing the grower makes it feel much more trustworthy, doesn´t it?

Having a very physical day is very satisfying. I couldn't say the same for today though. It has been hot & I also felt tired & it's my fast day. I'm doing ok with it, but am on my 3rd diet soft drink, which is not healthy, but is helping me until I get used to 5:2. I love diet tonic as it doesn't taste sweet.
The growers are very honest, LaMa. They have only sold their produce at a roadside stall before this. I'm glad they are making a go of it.
I think I may not have eaten enough yesterday with my activity level to make up for today's fast as I am really struggling with my hunger today. It won't kill me I know. I may go up to 550 I think.
