Cate's Diary

Glad the music is working . Daughter was playing abba last night I was going to bed singing dancing queen. Enjoy the grandkids Cate .

Petal - Dancing Queen - what a great tune, I remember it well. Abba was awesome.

Cate - I really like diet-window idea. I've recently been working on not eating at night as well. Have you been able to play the music from the USB stick? I'm not a fan of Windows Media Player either. My go-to player is VLC.

Hope you´re having fun with the grandkids!
Thanks, LaMa. I love seeing them, but only did when I called them out of their "wombat holes" for meals.

Thanks, Petal. I listened to music yesterday in the kitchen while I was cooking. I didn't have it too loud though as last time the kids were here, they shut the door to their room!

I am used to the diet window now but am going to make sure I have "proper meals" from now on as for the last couple of days I have just been picking & it doesn't feel healthy.
I have VLC on my new laptop & am able to play the music from my BIL's USB, but not easily. I am used to using iTunes & had copied lots of my CD's onto my iTunes on my last laptop, but can't seem to be able to get it all transferred onto my new. I'm basically a self-taught computer Luddite. I would love to learn how to manage my music as I love it. I really do think I need to "proper" lessons with an actual human.
Have fun with the grandkids! If you are like me its always great to see them come, and sometimes good to see them go. But always fun when they are here.
That conjures up and interesting picture!
Ah, yes. I just let them do what they wanted to yesterday & I did the same. I saw a large echidna & went off to have a look & neither of them could be bothered putting their shoes on to go with me......back to their phones.....
I think it's fun to imagine us all having a dance. What would we dance to I wonder? You look like George Clooney, right?
Oh, grandies visiting! Lovely - stopping for the weekend? If so, you'll be flat out! Have fun! - or of they've already gone, enjoy the return of the bliss of solitude. :)
Hi, Amy. Hope you're feeling a little better this morning! I only had them for the day. Our son works most weekends unfortunately so the kids often come here & he picks them up afterwards. Next time they stay I think G & I will take them somewhere & all phones will be quarantined.

Hi Cate - yeah, I've struggled with iTunes before. They really bury where the songs are kept, although I think you can figure it out by clicking on show folder or something. But do you have a mac store near you? Maybe not, but hey give free classes. I'm sure they could help you out with that.

I'll have another look at iTunes today, Jack. There is a Mac store not too far away (60 km) & if I can't work it out myself I'll call in & ask. Cheers!
Edit: I have just looked at a youtube video telling me how to do it. I need to buy some USB sticks. I have been meaning to, but keep forgetting! Now I have an incentive to remember. I also just booked tickets to an album launch at the end of the month. I may have put this link before. We saw her live in Hobart earlier in the year as support before Dan Sultan, Vika & Linda Bull & Joe Camilleri. Have a listen to this-

Picking is one of my foibles/bad habits. I'm trying to have three healthy meals too - and making them really nice ones, too, not just eating up what's in the fridge (another bad habit)
Maybe a bit better? But definitely not myself yet though - I'm going to log off after this - I really would like to catch up with everybody, but I can feel myself going downhill.
That would have been pretty galling, seeing the grandies miss a chance to see an echidna because of the blinking (literally, pretty much!) phones - so cheers for the next stay, when they encounter the real 3D no-headset-required world with you and G! :)

Looking after your health is much more important than the forum Amy :grouphug:
It is a pretty song, Rob. Her story is really interesting. Her distinctive & powerful voice was cultivated in a Tasmanian bush home, designed to be open to musical ideas and a do-it-yourself ethos. Her parents Robert and Anne Taylor built their home at Milabena in the 1970s with old and recycled materials. They chose to have six home births and reared six in a rustic open-plan home known as The Barn, which was originally an actual barn. Claire is the youngest. She grew up surrounded by musicians, apple orchards and the magnificent Tarkine region, which is under threat of logging. I think her music reflects the forest & their surrounds. Her bio is at- Claire Anne Taylor - BIO
I had a delicious lunch- 1/2 a salmon fillet, with a tofu/vegetable stir-fry that I made yesterday & steamed beans, carrots & asparagus. My stir-fry had garlic, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, a little tomato & tofu, which I won't bother with again. I would rather have beans I think.
I then had some yoghurt with berries & banana. I didn't eat until 1 pm as I wasn't hungry. Actually I just realised that daylight savings started today, so my 1 pm was really 12 :blush5: Dinner tonight will be pumpkin soup with some greek yoghurt & seeds & maybe some toast with cheese on it. I did want to try making my own seeded crackers but didn't get enthused. I will sometime though.

I don´t like plain tofu but it´s quite nice deep-fried :p Your lunch sounds delicious :drool5: Here we don´t change our clocks until the end of October and by 2022 we should stop altogether!

Hi, LaMa. This was Teriyaki tofu. I found the texture was awful. Lunch was delicious, but I'm hungry already & may have another small meal soon. I need to eat more protein, I need to eat more protein......
I love daylight savings :)

I guess that´s why I like it fried: it doesn´t get dry or rubbery that way. Starting in 2022 we´ll have daylight saving time all year round  I´m so happy about it because the evenings are SO short in Austria, even in summer.

That woman’s voice is really beautiful, thanks for sharing. I like that kind of music.

Your food sounds really yum and full of nutrients!

That’s lovely music Cate thanks for sharing .
Yes protein is key to feeling fuller longer .
I can’t get to like tofu but my kid loves it.
LaMa I think we are on the same hour change . Our evenings will be dark by 5 in November but we get bright evenings in the summer until 10pm . I find the autumn came in too quick this year though .

LaMa- There are 5 different time zones in Australia during daylight savings time. I love it, but many don't. Apparently Hobart gets about 36 minutes more sunlight than Vienna. The stats I found were fascinating. I may have got a little side-tracked :)
Em- You're welcome. I booked tickets to go see her at the end of the month at her new vinyl launch. She's very good. I listened to lots of music today & had a very relaxing day (with no wine).
Petal- It is lovely music. I don't think I will ever learn to like tofu. I'm done with it. I get a bit sad when daylight savings ends & it gets dark earlier, but then I adjust. Autumn can be cozy.

I most probably won't be posting in the forum tomorrow as G gets back in the morning first thing & I want to spend some quality time with him. I don't want to be like the GK's not paying him any attention. If he falls asleep during the day however......
