And now the women's marathon record has been broken - this time in Chicago, and by 81 seconds, which at that level counts as a huge margin. The new women's record-holder, Brigid Kosgei, was wearing the same make of shoes as Kipchoge (and I'm not giving anyone a free ad here, so I won't say what it was!) so my guess is the new shoes - or the style and technology which went into them - will be standard everywhere before the next Olympics.
Meanwhile, back at walking level... I'm continuing my low-level exercise regime (mostly stretches and tai chi, some knee bends, some extremely light weights). Not seeing much change but I'll keep it up for the month of October. By the way, I'm thinking ahead to November, when I want to follow a lead from Cate from a while back, and concentrate on being kind to ourselves. Anyone interested?
