Lift, Train, Fitness

Ah, you´re touching on one of my pet peeves there... I´m glad there´s proper education going on at your uni but I wish they´d shout that shit from the rooftops.

I have made my first major purchase for the commercial quality gym I am building at home, Spending $1700 on a competition bench that I will pick up from the manufacturer in Brisbane next week :D

I will need to get to the hardware store so I can get the materials I need to build 2 lifting platforms on the weekend.

Most commercial gyms do not have a competition bench, including the gyms in town, but a competition bench is needed for safe lifting of big weights, the safety bars stop the weight from crushing your neck if you fail a lift, spotters are great and still needed but a single spotter is not enough for the heavy stuff and it is rare to have access to the 3 spotters you would have in comp. The lift bars on the uprights allow you to change rack heights without needing to completely unload the bar either between lifters or when changing exercises. Eg the bar height is different between doing a wide grip bench, a competition width grip on bench and a close grip bench press,

mix of stuff happening today, spent time working on my info-graphic report, lots of time making sure my referencing format was right, I don't want to be marked down for a misplaced comma or semicolon.

Been to town to purchase some pavers to finish off the BBQ area next to our small shed that is used for entertainment, games and my crafting room. Paint and a new roller to re paint the large shed floor before the lifting equipment gets moved in. Bub picked out a new grevillea to plant in the garden bed next to the house. Australian Plants Society NSW - Grevillea ‘Fireworks’ so I need to chip some weeds and prepare the bed for planting.

I have forgotten to eat today and it is now lunch time, so time to go and cut some ham.

What a gorgeous plant! I know people who just forget to eat and I used to envy them but given how much I enjoy my food I no longer do :p

2 coats of paint on the floor, 1 more coat should do it before moving lifting equipment in.,Looking at the area without clutter, I have an area that is larger than the gym floor of the gym in town, but it is a slow process with equipment being sooo expensive.

after the third coat of paint, I need to move my existing light stuff in, buy the materials to build lifting platforms (comp standard) and to get some more mats, as the ones I had have been put to use elsewhere in another shed. Still on the list of major pieces of equipment to buy are a commercial power cage (one I can expand later with add on accessories) a comp standard power bar and a set of calibrated plates.

lunch today was calamari cooked in the air fryer.

spent some time in the garden with bub, planted some Valerian seeds and some more wormwood, the last lot didn't germinate, I may have either drowned them or let them dry out too much, they are supposed to be hardy lol.

I don´t know where you got the seeds but it´s always possible they weren´t stored right.
others seeds from my supplier germinated just fine, It is much easier to propagate wormwood from cuttings but as a rare herb, I cannot buy any plants locally.

Uni was a short day today, got some feedback on my info graphic, I would probably get good marks as is but I need to make a few tweaks to ensure HD level marks.

After discussion on another site, is is frustrating that many woman in cities believe there is no sexism in the fitness industry because they have "never experienced it" yet these same ladies are the ones to never try to step outside the norm by only teaching group classes which is an area of fitness dominated by female trainers so never see the struggle on the other side of fitness on the gym floor. Regional attitude to gender roles are far more conservative in regional areas compared to the cities. Look at any male dominated sport, where are the highly qualified female coaches ? they are out there but their chance of getting the job is almost non existent.

I hate how this bug is cycling around the community, you get rid of it and soon after you get it back again.

Today I ache all over so much it is hard to move and I still cannot get rid of my chest infection. Fingers crossed for some rain today, one of the near by towns ran out of water this week with the town bore running dry, and needing water trucked into the town by the local council. Our tank is down a little but we have to be sooo careful with water. It is a bit indulgent trying to rebuild the garden, and watering has to be done in measured amounts.

youngest son is a bit annoyed with me lol, because I don't consume sugar, I forget to buy it in the shopping. oh well he has a car, if he wants sugar he can go buy it himself.

:svengo: Not again? That sucks.
Trucking in water already? Crazy Australia. We had some snow yesterday, mixed in with rain!
Youngest son lol :D

Monthly Drought Statement this is a map of rain deficiencies, I am on the mainland near the bottom tip of Fraser Island which is shown in bright red. I cannot remember how long it had been since we were not drought declared. Australia is a big dry country.

trucking water almost never stops for those of us out of town, but trucking water for town use just shows how bad things really are, and not something those in the city truely understand.

Nifty bench. Right now my bench weights are such that as long as I don't hit total failure, I can always do the 'roll of shame.' I'm trying to lift in the 8 RPE range and avoiding the 9s and especially 10s as much as possible. But since some days are better than others...
