Lift, Train, Fitness

while I was away and it said I was 32%. My scales at home say I am 40%.

Home scales have a poor accuracy level but still good for tracking trends.

He has a cool moustache.

His brothers think it makes him look sleezy lol

shoulder is not too bad this morning, I feel I may already have more ROM but cannot test it yet, have to take it easy for a few days and not do anything overhead.

Hope your shoulder loosens up with rest.
so do I, Cortisone is one of those treatments where the response is very individual, I usually respond well yet for others it will have no effect. It also can have a serious effect on some health conditions. For example it spikes blood sugar at the time of injection. There is a good reason you have all the paperwork to read and sign before they inject you.

speaking of drug interactions, I may seem a little anal against some advice given by members here, but is only to protect members from potentially terrible health outcomes. I have nothing against herbs as such, but when it is suggested to members to take a herbal supplement that has a long list of side effects and serious drug interactions with common heart medications, all for no weight loss benefit I will speak up. I have been accused of being a bully for pointing out the facts, with the suggestion that I should have written the advice in PM to the person giving the advice, this is pointless, doing so would have still left the member receiving the advice completely ignorant of potential side effects along with any visitors to the thread.

As for diet methods, I personally follow a strict keto lifestyle but I will never push this way of eating for everybody because it is not the only way to loose fat, calorie counting or no calorie counting are still valid methods of weight loss. Vegan or Carnivore, both can be done in a healthy way and as those who have been on the forum for a long time will know, I will support you whatever the choice, no matter if it is different to my own choices. People forget that weight loss is not simple, a lot of what we do is based on estimates, most people including myself have no access to labs and machines to get super accurate numbers. Formulas are only ever a rough guide, with several formulae all trying to achieve the same outcome eg the various formulae to calculate calorie intake. BMI is another, it has many drawbacks as discussed earlier but for some that is all they have access to, you just understand it is not the best indicator of healthy weight but it still has it's place for some.

I will also not give advice on some of the methods for fast weight loss used by athletes, for a similar reason to the herbal/supplement/drug reasoning. While it can be done in a safe way, for some there is a risk of death. When dealing with desperate people with unknown health problems, the risk is too high. These methods like some of the herbal suggestions etc, do not produce permanent weight loss, and it certainly is not fat loss.

Loosing 10+ kg overnight after 1 week of simple prep may sound great on the surface but it is NOT fat loss.

this rant is getting a bit long, it is my frustration beginning to show, and for the record, I am not a bully, I am not male lol, and if you are too sensitive to hear the truth without taking it as a personal attack, it is your problem not mine.

Tru, I understand fully & appreciate the way you state the facts & not your personal opinions. There are so many ratbag forums & this is not one of them. We need you to help maintain logic & balance. I know it must be bloody frustrating & I admire you for sticking with us all. Your intentions are good intentions.

have not had anything solid to eat yet today, being a bit lazy, need to get away from the computer and put a chook in the oven. No fresh eggs today, one of our leghorns has gone broody. after a late lunch I will see how well my shoulder stands up to building some terrain in my craft workshop now it has been renovated and has AC.

I hate enforced rest and missing training, hopefully I will be ok for Monday training and sitting down with the gym owner/friend to work on some promo stuff and to fix her website. I may be out of the IT and web development industry as a career but still help a few people out occasionally.

I know you´re right: BMI is meant for population statistics, not individual health decisions. But I still feel better for having an officially healthy BMI again...
Sorry to quote myself here but it didn´t sit right with me and I just realized that all it means is that on some level I DO believe that BMI matters more than it should on my individual level.
Also:

Thank you for that! It´s a thing that bugs me terribly but I´m usually too afraid to offend anyone to speak up. You know your stuff and I respect that tremendously.
Also also: the neon stripper made me chuckle :D

Training today went great

paused bench went up nice and steady, shoulder felt more stable
Close grip bench showed the biggest difference post injection, prior to injection Restricted ROM kept weight to 40kg, today 60 kg (132 lb) was easy for 4 sets of 8
Powerlifting lying tricep extensions, were also great, prior to the cortisone very difficult to hold correct elbow position behind head, today holding position was easy, allowing weight to be added to bar, targeting medial and lateral tricep heads correctly.

Still a lot of work to do to regain full ROM and be completely pain free but as the inflammation in Bursa continues to improves I should be able to get back to lifting weights appropriate to my strength levels.

Now I have to head back into town for a lung function test, still cannot get rid of my cough, and Asthma has been playing up.

The improvement in my ability to train is showing this morning, with a little bit of DOMS in my triceps, but still a long way from challenging my pecs. Shoulder has come through just fine and continuing to improve.

Officially a rest day today but may spend some time on the stationary bike today.

After being away from competition for for so long, this is a hard journey regaining competition fitness.

Bit of unplanned exercise this morning.

It is never a great morning when you have a puncture and find yourself changing a tyre on a country road with a rather unhappy baby and a carload of weekly shopping that needs to get into a fridge before it goes off in the Australian summer heat. despite only taking a short time to get sorted, I was dripping in sweat.

Urgh, that really wouldn't improve my day... As much as I am not a city person having unlimited access to public transport does make me very happy. Great to hear your march back into training is going well!

Rest of the day was ok after the bad start, big test for my shoulder tomorrow, squat will test my ROM straight after my Doc appointment.

bub has been challenging today lol, no longer content trying to climb stationary bits of furniture or standing on her trike to reach stuff, she managed to stack a couple of smallish storage boxes and tried to climb onto the dining room table. I have a little daredevil.

Training today went well, shoulder almost reached the correct ROM for squat but hit my 4 sets of 10 at 60 easy, speed deadlifts and accessory work went smoothly.

Had to buy 2 new tyres today, which is a bit of a hit to this weeks budget and get the car booked in for a wheel alignment on the weekend. rough country roads are tough on cars. One of the young ladies in my youngest sons martial arts class was really happy with the photos of her grading that I took, she works as a tyre fitter where I get my car done.

Not much sleep last night so recovery from training was not great, however I was certainly hitting the mark yesterday. Being Quad dominant I rarely feel squat in either glutes or hamstrings, but going ATG yesterday has given them a nice worked feeling today.

2nd day DOMS today in Quads, Hamstrings and Glutes, core has a worked feeling but not full strength DOMS good thing my next training session is not till tomorrow and the currently sore muscles won't be worked again till Sunday.
