Cate's Diary

Cate hope you start to feel a little better soon . Do you eat white or brown rice . I know if I have rice or pasta it literally has to be a tiny portion. The more I'm reading all the diaries this morning I'm thinking I have to really consider cutting the carbs somewhat. Yikes

If the golf clubs feel a bit short best not buy them .

My friend had a holiday home in Crete . They loved it . I think I would like to go too. I'm currently reading a novel about leper colony that was off the coast of Crete . It's a sad but lovely story and portrays Greece to be so beautiful . All the talk about urns overflowing with herbs and geraniums, olive trees sounds so beautiful .

On a separate note my husband was watching a wildlife program last night about the Tasmanian devil. He thought it was just a myth but they do exist but are an endangered breed . They look like they sure could give a savage bite .

Hi, Petal. G only ever cooks white rice, I'm afraid. I know that starchy carbs don't suit me, but it is so hard to cut them out altogether. I'll work this out. Doctors aren't a great help with dietary things from my experience.
I think you are right about the golf clubs. G was saying how well I hit them, but I wasn't thinking so at all.
Greece looks wonderful. I have always wanted to go there!
The Tasmanian Devil is a very shy creature & is a scavenger. We have had them on our land, but have not heard any for years. We saw 2 one night, fighting over a dead bird. They make a very eerie sound. Unfortunately, they are suffering from a facial tumour & their numbers are dwindling. This link has some good info- https://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=387
They have healthy populations in our wildlife parks in Tasmania & we have one nearby. I love them!

It's one of those chronic conditions that can only be managed, not cured. But a lot of other things can be mistaken for ibs and knowing what you really have is kind of important.

I had no idea that Tasmanian devils were real. They are adorable, and I love their calls, too. Glad they are protected now!

I substitute summer squash, cauliflower, or marinated tofu for grains and neutral tasting things like that seem to work well for putting sauces on. Green beans are good, too with the curries. I hope I don't suggest things too much when people aren't asking for suggestions. I do tend to do that too much, so please let me know!

Enjoy your vacation planning. You have so many incredible places to choose from within Greece and Italy. I imagine you could go year after year and see totally new things every time!

Tassie devils are adorable creatures! I woke one night & heard this weird screaming noise & looked outside to see what looked like a mother & one of her offspring fighting over something. Next morning I remembered that a bird had flown into a big glass window & died & I had thrown it into that garden. I love that we had them on our own property & like to think they are still about somewhere nearby.

Halt that thought right now, Marsia. I welcome all and any of your input. If I start thinking I am doing that I may as well stop typing in this forum.
Vacation planning- I'm really not doing any :blush5: There is so much to see & do that I don't know where to start. If I could find a tour that included the places I want to go I would just book it The thought of doing it all myself is daunting. I think I'll go see a travel agent.

The thought of doing it all myself is daunting.
I know the feeling. I´m fine going somewhere and just walking around, finding out where I want to go and what I´d like to see once I´m there but the idea of having to plan ahead for several different accommodations (and flights) that´ll get me to specific sights all neatly in time makes my stomach lurch. If only because I get nervous over travel and plan ridiculous amounts of bonus time. If I have to change places while ON vacation there´ll be no time left to see ANY sights :p

I really like the idea of a tour . My friend is coming back from one today in Italy I must see what she thought about it . I find we go on vacation with no grand plan and then we don't do quarter of what we want .

I did a tour of Europe once and really loved it. It was so nice being driven around to all the sites and having someone else find the inexpensive places to stay. I wish we had also had a few days here and there to explore on our own though. If I did another tour, I would book my own hotels for a few days at the beginning and ending destinations of my trip and have some time to relax and do things at my own pace, too.

I think doing a tour is the way to go. I'll do some more research while G is away. Adding time at the start is what we would normally do, but we find by the end we are happy to head home. I'll have a look tonight :)

I would like to take a long cruise around the world at some point in my life. And then maybe go back and visit the places I liked the most for a longer period of time. These cruises are not cheap, though. Last time I looked, they run about 100K dollars!!! Better start saving, lol.

I also had no idea the Tasmanian devils were real! o_O I gotta google this, lol.

Gosh Jennie or maybe win the lotto . Well my friend was in Spain on the tour . She would have liked a day at the beginning for herself as she was tired from the journey the day before . But she opted not to do all the excursions , met some great people and would do it again . However they did use one hotel only as a base .

I am greatly amused by the fact so many people think Tasmanian devils are fictional :p
Me, too!
He is nothing like this-

I do love Taz though, but I think he's responsible for either leaving people to think they don't exist or being crazy, rabid animals :D
Running out of time this morning as I ended up sleeping in, after having trouble getting to sleep last night in our big bed on my own.
I'm going out to help with the vets golf day. I'll be back this afternoon.
FD today.

I put a big fluffy pillow as a stand in so I can sleep when my husband is away! Hope you have a good day at the golf course!

Good luck with your fast day! I prefer to sleep alone even when I am in a relationship and always have. Different strokes for different folks I guess :)

The day went well, thanks Marsia. The vets appreciated the fact that I went out & helped, even though G is away.

My sister is the same. I am so used to sharing my bed with G, that it takes me a while to get used to his absence. We have been together since I was 18.
I had a nice day actually. Today's fast has been one of my easiest ones.
I had some strawberry yoghurt, with extra fresh strawberries, a stick of celery & 1/3 of a cucumber for my lunch. (86 cals)
When I got back home, about 3.30 I had a brown rice cake with some hommus. It was delicious & I then had another.
My calories for the day so far are only 191 & I am not hungry :D
