Cate's Diary

I can't even think how I could possibly explain what happened today at golf. I played much better for the 1st nine holes, playing with a woman I don't normally play with, who is very quiet. Then she had to pull out as she hurt her shoulder before she started. She's quite overweight & gets around in a ride-on cart. So, then I had to join up with the group ahead of me & was then marking the card of the woman who is 6 shots ahead of me. Instantly I saw that I had caught up 5 shots already. When I am playing in a team with G I always tell him not to let me know if we are doing well as I then put pressure on myself & usually play badly from then on.
I played OK for a few holes & got another couple of shots back & was one in front. ..............
& then, there was the lake hole :svengo: I teed off, straight into the lake. One shot penalty, out with a "lake ball", then I played my next shot, trying to get over the lake ad infinitum..........................& eventually holed out for 14 shots. I kept holding my head last night & saying "14 shots!" It was HORRIBLE. R had her best ever score on that hole- 5. I got over it & played reasonable golf for the rest of the round & was on the green for 3 on the long, final hole & ending up being 5 shots down overall. What an insane game golf is. Next time I go in the lake I am hitting my next ball off the tee, rather than down next to the lake. I don't care if I lose all that distance. I don't often go in the lake, but that was the stuff of nightmares!

Golf rant over!
Hana- I play golf with the women members of the local golf club. I have more fun playing with the men & usually play better, but I am trying to get used to it & them. I need to rustle up some new women players though. I really like a few of them, including the one I am currently in competition with for the C-Grade championships. She's lovely.
Chef- Thank you! My ears are getting better as they no longer hurt, but I'm off to the doctor today to have my left ear syringed & hopefully that will be clearer. I would really hate to go deaf. It is very frustrating. I have felt like I'm in a tunnel.

I think I need to come up with some goals for November. It's 8.30am on the 1st here already, so I had better give it some quick thought......
1. Do 5:2, not 6:1 ( 2 fast days per week of <500 cals)
2. Exercise for at least 30 minutes of every day.
3. If I start to feel down, smile.
4. If I start to worry about G, stop!
5. .....................................................
5. Spring clean entire house :D

I´m on board with nr 5; except that it´ll be autumn cleaning :p Your lake experience sounds like a nightmare!

I have woken up feeling really good this morning. The doctor cleared my ears yesterday & I don't need to see an ear, nose & throat specialist :D
G & I are off to Dev today to pick up some stuff for the club tournament this weekend & I am really hoping to get a Fitbit. I looked up leather bands online & there are some really nice ones on eBay, that are way cheaper than the Fitbit leather ones in the store. I think I'll get the Charge 2. I'm feeling positive today & feel the fog has lifted again. I know it's a cyclical thing & it always comes & goes, but am always very glad when it does go.
Sending out lots and lots of love xoxo Cate

Ohh Cate, add me! I think my email address is if you can add me by email? Or I can try and add you?

I was thinking about you this morning and your data issues with your phone. I wanted to make sure you knew that if you use the Fitbit app on your phone, you should probably turn off the "all day sync" option, otherwise your Fitbit will be syncing with your phone all day and using data. I've read many complaints from people that have went way over on their data plans because of it. I turned mine off. That way it only syncs when you open the app, and I do that when I'm at home on wifi. Just click the picture of your Fitbit on your dashboard if you use the app, that's what the setting is under. If you don't use the app.... you don't have to worry about any of this. haha! :)

Lalalalalalal LaMa :D I stopped talking about the Fitbit after he said that. Technology does not interest G in the slightest.
Thanks, Jen. I had looked that up as I was setting it up & turned off the all day sync. Does your Fitbit feel warm on your arm?
Hana- I sent an invite to that email address, but you haven't been added yet. I think I'm going to be embarrassed by my lack of steps, compared to some. :blush5:
I'm about to head off to golf. It's VERY windy (gale force apparently) EEK!
I had better scoot!

1st "proper" day with my Fitbit. I played 18 holes of golf in crazy wind! Had fun & played a little bit better.

Thanks, Hana. I'm having a lazy day today, though. Golf was very tiring yesterday & I have had the kids today. I just put them on the bus, back to their Mum's. I will be on my feet a lot tomorrow. I'm feeling nice & relaxed now that they have gone. It saved D driving them home (120km return trip) before he had to go to work today.
I'll have to work out how to use GPS on my Fitbit so I can see where I go, especially on golf days. I had better get learning a bit more. I might also buy a new leather band on eBay. I don't much like the look of the plastic. Bye for now xoxo Cate

I did thanks, Cowboy. I had a lousy night's sleep Sunday night though- probably only got about 4 hours sleep all up.

Yesterday I did the bar for our Annual Tournament & was out at the golf club from 8am until 5pm. I did over 10,000 steps, but it was a fairly boring long day. G played 27 holes of golf, pushing his cart as well. We both play with non-motorised push buggies. It's much better for your fitness. It was lousy weather yesterday & he was absolutely knackered last night. We both slept like logs.
I won't join any Fitbit challenges just yet. Thanks for the invite Hana. My challenge at the moment is to just get used to having the Fitbit on & doing 8,000 every day ( except maybe Sunday).
Today is Vet's golf day &, I'm off to do the bar(not terribly taxing) & I am also having a fast day (<500 cals). I should be able to get my 8K steps in.
I will weigh myself tomorrow. I haven't weighed for a couple of weeks. It's time I lost a couple of kg! I need to do 2 FD a week & then I would.

1st "proper" day with my Fitbit. I played 18 holes of golf in crazy wind! Had fun & played a little bit better.

All that walking around on the golf course gives you a TON of steps, damn. And, lots of floors too - probably from the hills and valleys and whatnot.

Good job, Cate!!!

Thanks, Chef. Our course is very hilly & I push a non-motorised buggy too. It's hard work at the moment as we are having some crazy weather. I'm off to play golf again tomorrow in the 3rd round of our club championships. I'm 5 shots behind.
I really am finding fast days harder & harder. I may have to abandon them altogether & go back to weighing more often & watching what I eat every day. I'll think about it but will get through today under 500 cals.......hopefully.I'm very tired!

Good work on the course, Cate, no matter what the outcome. Have an extra nap on fast days if you can; I think it´s wise to keep considering whether or not they do you good.
