Hello everyone....

My name is Kristi, and I this is somewhere around my 6th weight loss diary. I had to make a new account name because, unfortunately, my old computer crashed, and I couldn't remember my username or password. So...

I'm 18, a senior in high school. So as my senior year is almost coming to an end, I want to make the best out of my last month. And to me a big part of that is looking good and feeling confident in my summer clothes (bikini included:eek:). At this time last year, I was fit and skinny and comfortable with my body. But I unfortunately let myself slide, and now I have lost most of the muscle that I built up, and have gained back a lot of what I lost. Darn.

So I've decided that I need to become more active, and I also need a stricter diet. My mom and I are planning to do this together, so I won't have too much "temptation food" in the house. My mom is going to start cooking meals for dinner, and we are going to follow a strict 5-meals-per-day plan. Exercise, however, is an area where both of us have a hard time staying motivated. But I suppose that's gonna have to change. :)

Other than just wanting to look good, I will also be playing soccer for my college, Wittenberg University, next fall, and I need to be physically fit and healthy in order to keep up with my competition. A gym membership is crucial for this, and I will most likely be getting one to Lifestyle Family Fitness in May.

Other than that, please feel free to offer any opinions, advice, whatever because I love hearing from the people here.

Oh and my diet will be in full swing starting tomorrow. :)

really strict diets can be dangerous to long term success - be sure to not be too restrictive in what you're eating... too much restriction can lead to binges and making it too hard to stay on track...

What made you pick a 5 meal a day plan?

Nearly 1 month later...

Brother came home from college last weekend, and he has created this sort of regimen for our family. We all have to meet our weekly requirements, so that we can do something as a family at the end of the week. Cheezy right? But I think it's kind of cute, and knowing that my laziness will affect whether we can have a family activity will keep me motivated.

So my weekly requirement is to run 21 miles...3 miles a day. We are allowed to make up days, or run more on one day so that we dont have to run as much he next. But 21 miles. Yuck.

We're 2 days in, and since I'm done with high school (forever!) I have decided to run in the mornings, so that I can get it done early. I've already run today, and I am so soooore.

Also, today I had a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats and a banana for breakfast, a salad and a bagel for lunch, and saltines as a snack. This adds up to a little more than 1,000 calories. Im nervous though because tonight I have a choir concert, and there will be desserts afterward, and after that the choir members get pizza. Tonight has disaster potential. :/

Other than that, I am sick. I have had a cough for about a week now, and it doesn't seem to want to go away. Yesterday, my throat was killing me on one side. It hurt badly to even swallow. I hope I can get better soon, or I'm going to have to make another trip into the doctors.

Crashed and burned tonight. Urgh. 3 pieces of papa johns pizza and like 5 cookies. AWESOME!

Well...tomorrow is a biiig day, so I'd better get some rest. Night!

my college coach emailed, and he told me that June 16th is when I am supposed to start the 9 week program that he will be sending me some time next week. I have a little under 2 weeks to prepare.

But now that it's down to the wire, I have no other choice than to get off my butt and run. I want to play this fall, and that requires me to be in shape by the end of August.

so my goal is to get down to 125 by August 3, exactly 2 months. This is completely manageable as long as I start eating better and running. My diet restrictions are 1500 calories, 5 meals a day, no fast food, and no macaroni grill food, especially the bread. Did you know that the macaroni grill kids mac 'n cheese contains 1800 calories in it!

Today, my goal is to run 3 miles. I can only stop to walk 2 times and for no longer than 1 minute. This is probably going to happen later tonight with my boyfriend because I have lots of stuff to do today.

Nervous for this weekend already...my grad party...City BBQ, potato casserole, cake. AHHH! My mom is making her famous veggie pizza, however, so I'll try to stick to that when I get hungry.

Breakfast
1 banana - 100
1 extra large egg - 85 cals
1 piece of white bread - 70 cals

Total = 255

Lunch
Cup Of Soup - 45 cals
Cheezits - 160

Total = 205

I was going to eat this Anne Chung Chow Mein thing for lunch, but it was very gross, so I just had to find a substitute, and there is NOTHING in this house.

Not successful...

Monday is going to have to be day 1 of my diet/exercise because of my crazy schedule this week. Saturday is my graduation party, and this whole week has to be devoted to prepping the lawn, garden, house, etc. I know that my health should be first priority over this stuff, but this party has to go off smoothly or my mom will be so disappointed. She's ordered balloons, decorations, a really nice cake. We're having City Barbeque, vegetable pizza, baked beans, potato salad. Other than the City Barbeque, my mom is making all of this food. So she's stressing right now. And I'm just doing everything I can to make things easier for her.

The food at my party is another reason why I just don't think that I can start my diet until next week. I know that I am going to eat a lot, and I want to be able to enjy my party without worrying about my diet.

On another note, I still need a gym membership. The Y has the best deal, but they just don't have a lot of equipment. I really like Lifestyle Fitness last year, so that may be where I end up.

I work at 6 tonight. I guess I can partially stay on my diet by not eating any of the food there.

Just got done running and man is it HOT outside. My face is bright pink, and I am still sweating. I feel good overall though.

I ran somewhere between 2 and 3 miles, but closer to 3. :) I had to go very slowly...way slower than I was able to run last year at this time, but I don't care too much about speed right now.

Let's see...I haven't been here for a while, so I guess I should fill you in. I am at about 140 right now. 6 pounds heavier than I was 2 weeks ago. This is due to the fact that I went to about a dozen grad parties, including 2 of my own. My soccer training program starts on Monday, and I am very scared for that. Work sucks...for my diet, at least. And my boyfriend is working 5 days a week from 8-5.

So basically everything is great! haha but seriously...I'm actually enjoying myself right now. I still see my boyfriend basically every night and on the weekends. And after all that cake, bbq, mac and cheese, etc. I'm surprised I don't weigh 150.

okay so something I am really excited for is this brand new water park that just opened up about 20 minutes from me. My friend has gone already, and she said it is really cool, so I think I might get a season pass. I told my boyfriend though that until I lose about 10 pounds, I will only go with him, and not with any of our friends. I'm kind of ashamed of the extra weight. :/

Umm...food. So today has gone pretty well...

Breakfast - plain bagel w/cream cheese, 1 cup of cantaloupe, and a snack pack.
Lunch- Subway club 6" on wheat with lettuce, onions, banana peppers, and light mayo, and about 3/4 of a bag of lays baked potato chips.

Im not sure what is for dinner. Hmm. But I know that my mom will make something since I dont have to work tonight.

Work is another issue. Okay so usually I work at 5, and this time is hard for me to do with my diet. I have tried to eat after work, but then I get so hungry I feel sick and end up eating something crappy from work. And I have also tried eating before work, but then I get really hungry after work, and come home and eat basically another small dinner. I just don't know what to do. The only thing I can think of is to pack a dinner to take with me. Hassle much? But I guess it's worth it in the end.

So what else is up? Hmm...oh well I just got my rooming assignment yesterday, and I am in the residence hall that I wanted with another soccer player! So I am really excited about that. And Bed Bath & Beyond has become my favorite website haha

that's great that your roommate and you will have something in common... and you got the residence hall you wanted :)

have fun decorating :D

Hey there,

I'm so glad you stopped by my diary, I totally remember you but, I wouldn't have by the new username :)... Do you still work at the Macaroni Grill? I still love that place....

Your requirements to run each day seem like a good plan. I get off work here in a couple hours and I completely plan on going for a run outside. I even have some allergy medication to take beforehand so that I don't wimp out after only 2 miles due to the itchy eyes and the fact I can't see the trail, LOL...

I'm really glad your back and thank you so much for the compliments on my pictures. I put some into the Before/After section, not sure if you saw those. I still got some work to do but, I'm very pleased with my progress in the last year.

Glad to have ya back my dear :)

I still work at the Macaroni Grill. I don't have a problem with my job, but it is terrible when I am trying to stay on my diet. I posted earlier more about this, but I always get sucked into eating food there. The kids mac and cheese is a favorite, and I just recently found out that it has 1800 calories. OH MY GOSH! That's higher than my "goal" calorie intake! But yeah, other than that...this is my 2nd day running, so you know tomorrow I'm going to be sore. I don't have allergies, but there was one time that I got head-butted when I was going up for the soccer ball, and when I came down my vision was blurted out by black spots. That's the closest I have come to not being able to see while working out. haha Well good luck with the run! And I will have to stop by your B & A thread. :)

Chipotle was for dinner. There is this website called Chipotle Fan, or something along those lines, and it has this thing where you create your burrito, and then you can see how many calories are in it. I always get a burrito bol with rice, black beans, chicken, lettuce, and cheese. I asked for light black beans, and the guy started giving me the other beans, so I just had to stick to the huge slab of beans they throw on there. Not to fear though because I sorted a large portion of them out later. But any way, the website said that was about 605 calories. I don't really know how accurate that is, but it's not terrible.

So all in all, when I add in my running I ate about 1500 calories today because breakfast was 600, lunch was 500, and dinner was about 700. I figure I burn about 300 calories running, so that equals 1500 exactly! Ideally, I would like to eat 1500 calories without having to add in the exercise to equal that, but hey, it's a start.

Shortly, I will be heading over to my boyfriend's house, and I feel like a dip in the hot tub is needed. :)

Good news! I don't work tomorrow either!

Also, has anyone tried the appetite controlling water that's out? Eric (my boyfriend) has some at his house, and I'm kind of interested in it because god knows I need to control my appetite when I go into work.

I have just been awakened by a phone call. It's probably better off though since I've made a habit out of sleeping until noon.

It's another gorgeous day out, and I plan to make the most out of it. :) A little bit of laying out, a little bit of running, a little bit of sitting on the patio while I eat my breakfast and watch the birds, rabbits, and squirrels.

Hey,

So, I found you! I still think we sound a lot alike. :) Where are you going to college?

That whole running for a family activity thing is really neat. How's it going?

Ok, well, I'll talk to you more later.

YUM! Breakfast was good...I had a plain bagel except today I made it with 0 cal butter spray, and I also prepared a bowl of cut up fruit pieces with splenda sugar on top. My mom's diabetic, so she always has splenda here. And I drank a glass of water.

I walked around my house after I had finished and discovered something! Yesterday, these flowers that I personally picked out from the flower store looked dead and they were completely hanging over, so my mom told me to water them. Then, when I was just looking at them this morning they are standing straight up again! It's really amazing what a little bit of water does for flowers.

Sounds like a good day. I had to get up earlier than normal today too, because I usually make a habit of sleeping until 11am or so... I went for a run last night, it was great. I went outside and took an allergy pill and had no problems, none, it was so nice :) Running down in the gully behind my old house is my favorite place to run. It was kind of weird though, last night the dungeons and dragons peeps were down there dressed up and playing some live action/acting game... I have absolutely nothing against them, I just felt weird each time I ran past them with them yelling "Civilian! Time Out"!!! Whatever, I still got in a great 3 mile run, and I ran the entire time!!!

We've had interesting weather here. Cooler temps and stuff but this weekend it's supposed to get up into the 90's and stay there. Summer will officially be here for good. Here in UT it's the desert, so its a nice dry heat, I don't know what I would do if it was humid too...

BTW, I love love love Chipotle too. I'm usually bad though, and get a burrito... I'm working on not eating there as much but, it's just so tasty, and pretty cheap imo...

Have a great day,
Sam

Clarinetgurl, I'm so glad that you joined over here because we really do have a lot in common, and it will be cool to kinda follow each others progress. Sorry I never responded on the other site, I just didn't follow up on what I said I was going to do! To answer your questions I will be going to Wittenberg University next fall. It's a very small liberal arts school in Ohio. I really love it there though, and they have a pretty decent soccer program there! As for the family regimen, eh, it was a good idea, but it kinda fell through. My mom isn't motivated enough right now, and my brother does it when he can, but he is busy a lot of the time. So it's just me right now. haha What about you, are you going to college? I think you said you're the same age as me.

Sam, I cracked up when I read the Civilian! part. I don't hold anything against them either, but it would be incredibly awkward! I've seen something like this at a soccer tournament, but they were fighting with the light sabers that extend when you jolt them forward. But I guess that's better than just sitting around playing video games...at least they're burning some calories! And congrats on running all 3 miles! I have to go at a slugs pace if I want to be able to run the whole time.

Ohio really sucks when it comes to humidity. Earlier this week it was in the 90s, and the humidity was nearly unbearable. My boyfriend is painting houses this summer, and I was really worried about him because he never takes heat seriously. I used to be a lifeguard, so I understand how draining the heat can be, and that sun screen is essential, but he came home bright red and exhausted. I yelled at him and made him promise to wear sunscreen. haha

I used to always get a burrito until last year when I lost all that weight. Just one of those tortillas is like 300 calories! So no more burritos for me. What's in the burrito is good enough that I can live without the tortilla.

Water can hav ethe same effect on the human body too :)

I have been really trying to drink lots of water! It helps to have a refrigerator with the water dispenser because I always have ice, and the water is always cold and refreshing.

So I posted these up on another thread of mine, but I want to post them again because they are the pictures I use as my motivation. They are hanging up on my wall currently. The bathing suit picture was taken in May of last year, I believe, and the stomach picture was taken the night before I left for vacation, which was early July.

Oh, how I wish I still looked like this.

There is nothing to eat in this house!!

so I had 2 bagels and cut up strawberries for lunch. Sounds familiar.

Breakfast - 240 calories
Lunch - 365 calories
