Weight Loss Journal

Thanks a lot boys your both right. And Shaun, you didnt upset me, you actually made me laugh with the fat pinching comment haha. Well as least now I have a proper scale with an accurate weight to go by. And it reads BF%, H2O% and bone mass. Cool or what?!?!?!

Woot yet another Friday, and my workout is done :)

Went to the Y today and it was great. I think I'm really starting to like it there. I'm probably going to keep my membership at least through the summer. Didn't do my HIIT training today because I did it yesterday.

Meals today look something like this:

Breakfast: Fibre One cereal w/ All Bran cereal, sliced almonds, skim milk, and strawberry yogurt - 300 cal
Snack: 6 dried apricots, raisins, and a nectarine - 231 cal
Lunch: Breaded cod w/ brown rice and zucchini - 323 cal
Snack: Carrot sticks with low-cal ranch dressing - 142 cal
Dinner: Catfish fillet w/ veggies (not sure which kind. put 2 zucchini's in fitday) - 212 cal

Total: Approx 1400 cal

So as I mentioned yesterday, i got a new scale. It's pretty spiffy. It remembers up to 4 users and it tells you all the info you need. BF% H2O% and bone mass. Official weight this morning was 143.2 lbs. BF% 27.1% so I'm about 4lbs heavier than I thought. Will adjust the ticker later today. Actually, i remember being at the doctors a little over a month ago and I weighed in at 146. So i guess I've lost 3 lbs.

I also got this wicked weighted jump rope. It has weights in the handles. It's frickin sweet. I can't weight to use it tomorrow.

I got an iPod shuffle yesterday, but I am going to return it. It doesn't fit into my budget this week and I found my other mp3 player.

Alright I've gotta go work on the COOOOOOLEST thing ever so have a great day :D

Just got out of a meeting and my boss brought cookies and pastries. I now know the feeling of temptation and those evil sweets jumping towards you.

Did I fend them off??????..............Your Damn Right I Did!!! :D
Evil SWEETS!!

Good for you, fending off the evil sweets. Not easy.

I notice that you have breaded cod for lunch just about every day. Good for you, but you might want to change it up every now and then. I've heard that even with keeping the same calorie content, a person who varies his diet will lose more then a person who is eating the same thing consistently.

Good luck with the jump rope. I'm real good jumping rope, but I've never been able to really get the weighted ones down. I think I like to go faster then they do, but however it works for you.

Hey Trops, ya I usually make enough food to last me more than a day so I don't have to cook for myself every night. Changing things up would be nice though. I don't know what carb I would eat besides rice though... and bread. I don't really know many easy and few ingredient recipes, so I just stick to what I know. If you have any ideas id gladly listen. Actually, I really want to try this spaghetti squash spaghetti. It sounds awesome!!!

I acutally used to take skipping lessons believe it or not. I was testing out my rope yesterday and it seems to have a pretty good pace. I dont know I might buy a speed rope too just to change it up if I don't feel like the weighted one.

Very cool about the rope. See, when I skipped class, we didn't call it skipping lessons. Oh well, kids these days. :)

Changing up the lunches can be as easy as making the cod into a wrap with baby spinach and peppers and LF dressing. Or make two things and alternate days. I love cooking, so it's no big thing for me, but I can understand that it's not something that everyone enjoys. Lots of good recipes on here.

wow wow wow i didn't say I don't ENJOY cooking. I actually love cooking and I'd love to make it a hobby and get better at it. But I have to be in a mood and not in the relax mode because then I just want to lay ont he couch and I find cooking a chore.

Carb ideas? Do veggies. I like sauteed zuchini and summer squash with some crushed tomatoes and onions. Just slice the zuchini and summer squash into like 1/2 inch slices throw them in a pan with some EVOO, toss in the tomatoes and onions... its pretty good i think. Spinach is really good for ya too, Trops is on the money there. Hmmm, I'll get back to ya with more ideas when I think of some.

Oh and by the way, I didn't mean me upsetting you, thats impossible :) ... I mean that sometimes when I weigh in and don't get what I want I say "F U Scale!" and I show it who's boss by busting out some extra cardio or resistance training.

Yea I actually made zucchini last night as my veggie and it was damn good!! I like to fry my veggies in water instead of oil :)

I just looked at the nutrition section of this site and I found some wicked recepies with salmon, beans, and spaghetti squash!!

Nice! Zuchini is great as long as ya cook it right. EVOO is actually pretty good for ya... just like everything else though ya gotta use it in moderation.

Adeon- you lucky thing! Your gym is right across the street from work? That's great. Honestly, morning workouts are the best, it's when you are motivated and awake.

lol@evil sweets.

How's the hunt for the scale going? Did you get one yet?

Yea it's really convenient that my gym is across the street. It's literally like 15 steps to the front door of my building. I have no excuse to not work out that way :) I actually do find that after I've worked out in the morning a few times I do feel more motivated to do it in the morning. I can;t sleep on the train ride to work anymore haha. I'm too full of energy!!:smash:

Yes I actually did find a scale!! It's a weight watchers scale and it measures body fat% and water% and bone mass. But I found out that my old scale was 4 lbs off... hence the change in my ticker. :(

Oh well... I've still lost about 4 lbs. I think I started closer to 148.

I did the best thing ever last night!!! I DEFEATED THE MUNCHIES!!!! :D

I smoked a joint with my cousin last night and she offered me food and I said no. Then I sat there and watched her devour some ice cream. I watched every bite go into her mouth....like a dog haha. Then on the way home I was like "oh man I know I'm going to eat when I get home". So I got home and went straight to bed so I wouldn't eat... SUCCESS!!!

I woke up this morning and weighed myself and it said 142 lbs. Down 1.2 from yesterday! :D I'm going to start to have one day that actually counts and that day will be friday. So my ticker will only change every friday.

After weighing myself, I skipped for 20 minutes with my brand new skipping rope. HOLY CRAP was it ever a good workout!! I was sweating buckets when I was done!!

Meals:

Breakfast: 1 egg, 1 egg white (half the yolk broke and fell in) scrambled w/ 1 piece of multigrain toast w/ margarine and 1 apple, 1 nectarine, 4 strawberries - 472 cal (I blame the margarine)
Snack: sliced frozen mango - 48 cal
Lunch: Peanut butter and banana sandwich on multigrain bread - 228 cal
Snack and dinner: ???????

Total so far: Approx 750 cal

Leaves me with about 600-700 to play around with.

Well this weekend didn't go too badly at all. Saturday for dinner, I had this wild rice dish w/ feta, olives, corn, onion, and a few other things in it. It was really good, and I'm going to say that my calories ended somewhere around 1500 for the day. I snacked on a couple chips throughout the night too... not enough to make any significant difference.

Yesterday was....I'm not sure how to rate yesterday. Let's start off with: I woke up in the morning and I was SORE AS HELL!!!! I didn't think that I'd be THAT sore from skipping. Everything hurt. IT STILL HURTS!!!!

I went out for brunch with my dad for FD and we ordered spinich dip for start, then I got a veggie burger w/ couscous. I didn't really enjoy the couscous at all. It was similar to rice, which I wanted to avoid. I didn't finish the couscous but I definately had my share of the dip, and I finished my burger and then took any veggies from everyones plate that they didn't want.

After that, I went for an 1 hr and 45 min walk. It would have been longer, but when I got to the halfway point in my walk I turned around and saw some nasty rain clouds rolling in so I upped my speed to a very very brisk walk. I got home just in time to miss the turential downpour.

For dinner, I had salmon w/ brown rice and veggies. The salmon was way too big and there was too much rice on my plate. Only after it was in my stomach did I think "yeaaa I probably shouldn't have ate that all". I also kept snacking on small things like a couple bites of ice cream, couple banana chips, couple more bites of ice cream, 1 dried apricot.

Today, I have already finished my workout. It was pretty good. I wanted to step it up, but with me being as sore as I am, i decided I'd just do my regular workout.

Meals today look like this:

Breakfast: Fibre One cereal w/ sliced almonds, skim milk and raspberry yogurt - 300 cal
Snack: 5 strawberries and one nectarine - 91 cal
Lunch: Spaghetti squash spaghetti - estimate around 250 cal
Snack: Trail mix - 173 cal
Dinner: Big ass salad - Approx 250 cal

Total: Approx 1200 cal

I've decided that I'm going to try to skip every Saturday, and walk every Sunday. Those are my non-workout days and I want to get some activity in there.

As I mentioned before, Fridays will be my weigh in days so I will not discuss my weight loss/gain on here until those days.

So I am writing pretty late today. i haven't had a hectic morning, but I did have a meeting to go to at 10:30 which was 15 minutes after my 15 minute break, so I haven't really had any time to write anything till now.

Things are going well... I almost feel as though I'm running out of things to talk about because I am doing so well on my eating well and exercise. I did go to the gym today and I did my HIIT training. My feet are still sore from skipping on Saturday.. right in the arches. And it's not a pulling feeling, it's more of a muscles being worked feeling. Weird eh? I've never had a muscles being worked pain in my feet.

I woke up this morning and, as I do every morning, I looked in the mirror for about 5 minutes in the nude to see if I can SEE any physical changes with my body. I did notice something. My body is beginning to take on a shape that I am unfamiliar with. A good shape. Everything is kinda smoothening out and is becoming less lumpy. I'm pretty sure its the certain fat pockets going away. One major thing I noticed that I've never noticed while trying to lose weight any other time: When you look at my old pictures, you may notice that my hip bones have little fat around them and the fat kind of lumps around my stomach, then goes in, then lumps around my thighs. Well this morning, the lump on my stomach (lovehandles more specifically) was almost equivalent to my hip bone. My thighs are now sticking out further than my stomach which is the way things are supposed to be with thin girls. Another thing I noticed: my inner thighs are thinning out. I've almost conquered the chaffing. I haven't yet as my shorts still scrunch up when I walk, but it's sooo damn close its not even funny. I have two weeks till my 3 month pics and measurements and I am noticing changes now that I didn't see in the 2 month pics...just 2 weeks ago!!

Canada Day weekend is coming up and I'm determined to be in a bikini by then. I just want to be able to wear a nice jean skirt with a bikini top and not have anyone make a big deal, or look at me weird, because of the way my stomach looks. It's going to be close, but I think I might be able to pull it off. I'm going to ask my bf just before we head out if he thinks I can pull it off. If not, then I'll have to wait for the civic holiday in August. I just need to be very strict with my diet for the next couple of weeks and pump out everything I have at the gym.

One thing that I'm nervous of though: I do not plan to drink until Canada Day weekend, but I think when that weekend comes, I'm going to be drinking quite a bit. Maybe a bottle of 750 ml wine a night... or half of a 26 oz of vodka. I'm scared I'm going to pack on the pounds and all my hard work will be diminished and I won't be able to wear the bikini by the end of the weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or suggestions? Not drinking is not an option unfortunately. I think I might try to drink one night only, but I doubt that will happen.

Meals today:

Breakfast: Fibre One cereal w/ sliced almonds and raisins, skim milk, and strawberry yogurt - 325 cal
Snack: Trail mix - 173 cal
Lunch: Spaghetti squash thing - estimate 250 ish
Snack: An apple and 3? strawberries - 94 cal
Dinner: Salad - Probably 250 ish

Total: Approx 1300

Yesterday when I got home from work, I couldn't help but snack as I waited for my mom to get home, which is good in this case because my calories were kinda low yesterday. I had a couple bites of trail mix and a couple smallll bites of ice cream (the container was almost empty and I was temped to finish it off but I said no no and put it back), and about 3/4 cup of frozen mango. All night I had some nasty almost uncontrollable cravings. I wanted to eat everything in the house. I actually managed to not eat anything after my salad which was good.

That pretty much sums everything up. Have a fantastic day everyone!!!

Sounds like a good plan you got going. don't worry about the one night/weekend of drinking. You will probably see an increase on the scale come Monday, but not really on your body. It's the old water weight excuse.

When you jump rope, do you keep on the balls of your feet for the whole time, or flatten out to your heals on landing? I imagine that your feet are sore because you are using the muscles in your feet to absorb all the impact of each jump.

How'd you like the spaghetti squash? How did you cook it?

Trops: Hey thanks man :) Actually I'm pretty confident that I can stick to this and lose the weight. After this month will begin a whole new chapter for me. See, I have only ever consistently worked out for 4-5 days a week AND ate well for 3 months. Once July begins, it's like I'm surpassing what I've ever done and I am going to see more change than ever before. Suspence is killing me haha. Thanks for the alcohol advice. I am really freaking nervous, mind you i PLAN on going for a run every morning... hangover or not! If I'm hungover then that's a consequence that I will face and i will run anyways.

I stay on the balls of my feet when I jump rope. I don't have time to flatten my feet cus the rope is coming right back around haha. I'm not sure if what you have said is meaning that my feet are in fact sore from working them, or if that's not the case... but all in all.. they still hurt.

The spaghetti squash is FANTASTIC!! I followed a recipe that Mal posted a while back. It's called spaghetti squash surprise and is probably on the front page of the recipes section since I recently posted in the thread. I think next time I make it I am going to include more veggies than tomatoes. Give it more of a KICK IN THE ASS!! A good one :D

Shaun: Yes that scale is truly fantastic!! I love it. I don't know how much it was down there but it was 60 up here. Still not too bad though.

When I jump rope, which I really have to start again since it's been three weeks, I use my feet and legs like shock absorbers. I land on the ball and go down till the heel just about touches. My knees are unlocked the whole time, so that gives a little give. I'm usually jumping on very hard surfaces, too. Now it's a cement floor but it used to be a steel floor. Both are so hard that you can wreck your joints if you don't absorb the shock.

Good luck with running with a hang over. I've never been able to do any serious exercise hung over. I can work a 16 hour day lugging things around in 120 deg heat hung over, but running? No way. If you can do it, more power to you.

Haha.. yea that method of jumping rope sounds like wayy too much to think of when the rope is coming back around in less than a second. I'd be tripping every time.

Yea thanks for the good luck. I'm gonna need it. When I am hung over, I ususally can't do anything.. I lay in bed all day or on the couch. Hangovers only affect my head so any movement will cause me serious pain. But I don't care. And who knows.. maybe if I can run I will sweat out the hangover or it will go away quicker :) That would be greaaaat :D

I usually do about 140 jumps a minute for 160 jumps, then I'll sprint for 40 jumps. If you count every other jump it's a cycle of 100. I try to do 40-50 cycles. When doing that many jumps, your form tends to come naturally.

Sweating a hangover away is one of the more painful ways to get rid of it, but also one of the fastest. I've heard that hair of the dog works really well, but I could never get myself to do that. I'd rather suffer. :ack2:
