VonArtiste's Diary

Sorry you are having such a bad day. Have you had a heart to heart with your Dad about why he won't teach you to drive? Maybe he doesn't know how much it means to you. Maybe he thinks he is protecting you. If that does't work are you old enough that you don't need your parents permission? Maybe you could take a course?

Anyway...hope you feel better tomorrow.

Awww, honey I'm so sorry you've had a bad day. Sometimes we just have to put the covers over a day like that and wake up to a whole new one. I hope tomorrow is better for you.

Quick question, do you have your learner's permit?

Pineola-Yes, I've had a 'heart-to-heart' with my dad about my driving. I've told him already that it's really important to me, that I'm sick of riding the bus, about the perverts on the bus, that I'm sick of having to rely on my friend who can be a brat. That I need it for school and work, on and on... He doesn't give a crap. I was going to take Driver's Ed my Sophmore year, but my mom sort of pulled me out of the class... Which is a long story. Private lessons cost 70 bucks each, and the one I did take I didn't even really learn anything. 70 bucks out of my pocket that went down the drain. And I can't take Driver's Ed next year because I already signed up for my classes.

Scarlett-Thanks. Yes, I've had my permit for a year since July 5th. I could've gotten my license yesterday. In that whole year I've driven about 10 times.

According to Florida law, a person with a learner's permit can drive with any licensed driver over 21 in the front seat. So, if your parents are not seriously opposed to you learning, maybe you could get a friend, an older cousin, or someone like that to teach you - in a BIG empty parking lot somewhere!

Sometimes it is too nervewracking for a parent to teach their own child to drive. It is very stressful for both parties. A friend might be a lot calmer and more easy-going as you learn.

Now- keep venting and leave those tubs of ice cream alone! :)

Von,

take a deep breath, and back away slowly from that freezer!

A friend once told me that eating that tub of ice cream (insert snack of choice here) will not change the day. That is, the Proactive situation will still be the same, your driving situation will still be the same, so why eat that ice cream? I now ask myself the question before heading for the fridge/pantry "Will eating this change what's making me upset?" The answer is always no! Mind you sometimes you just don't care!

Can an older friend teach you to drive and then you could have some lessons through a driving school just to make sure you're doing everything correctly?

Not sure what your requirements are for getting a licence.

Anyway you're on the right track, keep at it.:)

Have you had a conversation with your parents about what it will take for you to be able to drive? Maybe they are concerned about the higher insurance rates or other stuff... maybe you could all work together to put together a plan for that to happen...

In the meantime - ice cream isn't your friend... it's not gonna solve the issue... use your anger for something productive.. like go for a walk or something :)

Hey!

I'm really sorry about the whole liscence thing. I sort of went through the same thing when I was 15- Everyone else would get their permit on their 15th birthday and I wasn't allowed because the 'rents thought I was too irrisponsable blah blah blah instert drama here.

But I got over it eventually and was eventually allowed to get my permit because I left them alone for a while about it o_O strange I know! But I can totaly relate to you about perv's on the bus. Riding my bus was like walking straight into the fires of Hade's every morning. I had to ride it for my Freshmen and Sophomore year, and It was so crowded some kids sat 4 5 and 6 to a seat! But I digress...

Please don't eat that ice cream! I beg you! I had this problem a few days ago I was going to sneak out and get a large brownie batter blizzard! But I did not! Just think about how you'll feel after you eat the ice cream! Probably all bloaty and tired and then you may ask yourself "Man, WHY did I eat so much ice cream?!" Trust me... If I can resist ice cream, you can too!

I hope you can get your liscence soon! Sometimes it takes a while before parents get a slap in the face, wake up, and become halfway cool. I don't have any zen advice to tell you that might change your parents mind except just cross your fingers and hope for the best!!

Good job on not eating the ice cream so far!! And not for a loong loong time... Right??... RIGHT??? ;-)

Day 10

Alright yall, firstly I did 3,320 steps on my treadmill which brings my goal to:

Only 37,775 left.

Okay, I actually think I'm on day 10. I want to thank everyone who has posted on my diary. You guys made me not go get that big tub of icecream! Plus, you made me feel better about the driving situation, and everything, Thankyou!

Scarlett- I decided to join the challenge! I'm kinda nervous about it, but it sounds like lots of fun!

Okay so... I didn't make the greatest food decisions today...

For Breakfast I had a poptart. Lunch was sort of like dinner... I had another 12". *sighs* I told my mom I didn't want to eat 12"ers anymore, that a 6" would be fine, and please don't get me 12" anymore. Of course she didn't listen and got me a 12". So I ate that whole thing, and felt way too full... Later on I had a small meal of pork, carrots, onions, potatoes, and a slice of bread.

But... For exercise today I did:
-30 Minutes on Treadmill, 1.5 miles, 210 Cal
I actually went back to doing 3.5 speed instead of 3.0 ^^
-40 Arm raises
-20 Bicep Curls
-10 Overhead
-50 Situps

I'm going off to read some more journals and such. Again, thanks everyone for being there and supporting me!

Hey, next time your mom brings you a 12 inch sandwich, do this... separate the halves immediately. Scrape the filling out of one half and into a plastic bag. Throw the empty half of the bun away. Eat the second half, and later, when you are feeling hungry again, get out the fillings and warm them back up a little and toss 'em on top of a nice green salad! Great taste, little waste, and a fraction of the calories!!!

Hey Von :)
I just wanted to pop in and say hi! Twinmom is right, scooping half out and saving for later is a great idea!

Just because your mom brings you a 12" doesn't mean you have to eat it!

Are you drinking enough water?

Take care and keep at it - when you start seeing the progress, you'll know that all these (at the time) difficult choices (like not getting the ice cream) are worth it. Your goals are worth it!!

:)

Hey Von!!
It looks like everyone's been able to give you some real good advice. Have you been able to still stay away from that tub of icecream? I'll tell you, once I get an idea like ice cream or chocolate, there's no stopping it...it sticks with me till I give in!!! It's good to hear that your mom's coming home with Subway instead of McDonald's or whatever. At least this way you can control some part of the situation. Just try to remind yourself before you start eating how you FEEL after you eat a whole sub instead of just the 1/2. I hope you're still not nervous about the joining the 2 week challenge. To be honest this is my first challenge so we'll have to help each other!!;) I know our team will kick butt!!! :D

Day 9?

Um, Day 9?

Okay so yesterday for dinner I had... Uh... I forget...

But today I had:

Breakfast
-Roast, potatoes, carrots, bread

Lunch
-Bagel

Dinner
-Salmon, green beans, potatoes, carrots.

I'm too tired to really type anything. I can't wait to start the challenge on Monday, I'm so excited! I can't think of a name for my team... But... Go All Teams!

Sounds like you're doing great!!!
I'm going to go for a walk on my lunch hour today, so we'll count steps together!! Keep up the good work! :D

Hey everyone! I'm really excited! I just weighed myself for the challenge today, and I actually only weigh 204. I thought I weighed like 240! *Cheers* I'm so happy!

Okay so, for breakfast today I had:

-4 little Hotpockets
-Can of madarin oranges

Lunch:
-Salmon
-Green Beans
-Carrots

Alright, I'll post more later!

EDIT: Okay so last night I did:
-40 Arm raises
-10 Butterflies
-50 Situps
-10 Leg Raises
-40 Bicep Curls

I forgot to mention that my dad let me drive his truck in the morning. I drove to work. (With him in the truck of course.) When I got out, I asked him how I did, and he said I did excellent! That I was a lot more relaxed now. *cheers and gives a thumbs up* Awesome isn't it? I can really tell that I'm improving too. Everything seemed a lot easier, and my turns have gotten better.
