Vancouver Mommy's Online Diary

Ok, so here I go for the 100th time! I am making it my goal to log on each day this week and write what I eat and what type of exercise I fit in. :)
I'm trying to split up my meals into 5 mini-meals (I saw that on this website). I think my calories should be in the 1500 - 1800 range because of pregnancy so this is what I've had so far:

Breakfast: Protein Shake, 1 Slice Whole Wheat toast, 1 Tbsp Light Veggie Cream Cheese, and 1 Yogurt. Approx: 400 Calories.

I'm going to take Dray to the gym at around 10:30am so I'll log on again to write in what I manage to do. :)

Gym: 15 Min Elliptical & 15 Min Stairmaster @ 140 bpm 240 Cals Burned. Legs.

Lunch: Turkey Sandwich on Whole Wheat Bun with Lettuce & 1 Tbsp May 400 Cals
Snack: Starbucks Non-fat latte with Vanilla & Power Bar 550 Cals

I have a weakness for Starbucks. Usually get a mocha so getting a non-fat latte was a big step in the right direction for me. :) I know it added some extra cals so I'll try and skip that tomorrow.

My left hip hurts a little today - maybe from doing the stairmaster. I haven't done it in quite a long time. Hopefully it will feel better tomorrow. :)

Dinner: 1 Apricot, handful of cherries & raspberries, 1 Lean Cuisine (Lasagna) & I was bad and nibbled a bunch of Dray's dinner too... probably 100 cals or so extra. My Dinner was probably about 400 Cals. So I think my total for the day was around 1850. I can't wait until after I have the baby and I can cut back... I can't breastfeed this time around so I don't have to eat the extra 500 a day. I just miss being in shape so much, especially in the summer when everyone looks great! Wheeeewwwww, enough feeling sorry for myself! It's all worth it. :)

Thanks She47441 for the advice, I ended up eating a handful of tortilla chips which wasn't the healthiest choice. Gotta go to the grocery store today and fill up my fridge with better options. :)

Took Dray to McDonalds this morning and i had one bite of a hash brown and one bite of the sausage part of his egg mcmuffin - tasted sooo good but I resisted. :)

Breakfast: Starbucks Non-Fat Latte (160 Cals). One piece Whole Wheat Toast with low-fat veggie creamcheese.

Lunch: Going out for lunch with Pam so i'll post that later. ;)

Fast food is still my weakness, but I don't give into it like I used too. If I do go, I always try to something healthy, but I do give in now and then. Will have to try the veggie creamcheese. It sounds good.

Lunch: Garden Salad with Oil/Vinegar Dressing. Grilled Chicken with Rice Pilaf and Green Beans. Not sure of calories. Dark Chocolate Gelato for desert.

Dinner: Pineapple so far!

Didn't get to work out much today. I walked around downtown with Dray shopping for a couple hours though.

Obviously I forgot you were pregnant...anyway congrats on that and just be careful what and how much you eat. I agree with SMax, but you know your body better than us.

Thank you Smax & She47441 for your advice!

Everything I do is with my doctor's consent. She has told me 30 min of cardio per day is great as long as I can keep a conversation going the entire time and I keep my heart rate around 140 bpm. I also have a personal trainer who specializes in prenatal training so she makes sure I do everything right - I see her 2 x per week :)

My reason for posting what I eat each day is because I gained over 60 pounds with my son and I want to gain between 25 - 35 lbs with this pregnancy. I had to have back surgery 4 mos after the birth of my son due to two herniated discs and various other things relating to the extra weight I was carrying (I have an extreamly small frame so 60 lbs was wayyyyyyy too much for me!). Sometimes if i don't post what I eat, I eat too little - I used to work full time and look after my son 24/7 (like us all!) so i'd only eat an apple, starbucks, etc... this way I can look at what I'm eating and make sure I'm getting enough of the good stuff and not alot of the bad stuff! My weakness is Starbucks so I'm trying to change that to Soy Chocolate Sogood because I could drink litres of mochas daily if I let myself! (Not good for baby either). My doc said 1500 - 1800 calories is perfect for me at this point in time. And i always order my starbucks Decaf! :) Thanks for the concern and advice - I take it very seriously.

I'm trying to make sure I have carbs/fat/protein with each meal too - that's probably the hardest thing for me. I'm just used to grabbing a muffin, or something like that!

So here it goes for today:

Breakfast: Whole Wheat Bagel with Light Veggie Creamcheese. Decaf mocha from Tim Hortons with skim milk.

Gym: 30 Min Ellipitical: 180 Cals

Lunch: GoLean Cereal with 1 Cup 2% Milk. Blueberries, Banana & Raspberry parfait with vanilla yogurt.

Glad to see your concern and care with regard to your pregnancy - it sounds like your doc wants you to keep in the aerobic range (under 80% of your max heart rate) for your workouts - have seen this done in my spinning class too so that new people won't go hog wild and injure themselves. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the input Stigo & She47441. :)

Dinner: Whole Wheat Spaghetti (1 Cup) with Yellow Peppers & Organic Meat & Tomato Sauce.

Dessert: Tofutti Cutie Chocolate Mint Bar. OMG those things are sooooooo good! I'm going to have to learn how to just eat one. ;)

Okay I completely forgot what I ate yesterday! Seriously, between being blond & prego - I'm lost! no excuses. :)

Anyhow, I do remember that I had Whole wheat toast with veggie creamcheese and peppers and a garden burger for dinner. I also picked at some of Dray's dinner too. I didn't work out because my husband needed our truck, so today it's back on track for me!

Hubby is bring me home Denny's breakfast right now, so we'll see how bad that is!
