Valapalooza's Diary

Good for you!!!! I still can't afford the Turbo Jam workouts, So I'm gonna keep sweatin it to good ol Billy Blanks, and maybe get the courage up to run outside. Have a great Sunday!

So I made a shopping trip to a local market yesterday and loaded up on all sorts of good foods. It kind of makes mealtime a lot more fun because I've been making really good meals - lunch today was a salad with an herbed chicken breast and cherries and apples and red onion and some cheese with the Wishbone salad spritzers dressing. (Only 1 calorie per spray!, pretty cool- eh?) Dinner last night was a chicken stirfry with lots of yummy fresh veggies. I hope on stay on this kick where I like to cook-

Also, the bf bought me a softball and glove last night- He is trying to make me learn how to play. I'm all about it- but I've never been too good with the whole catching and throwing thing. I'll let you guys know how I do!

Thanks for stopping by guys!

I think that variety is the key to dieting, that salad sounds nummy :) Good luck with the softball .... I'm sure co-ordination will come with practice ;)

Hint when playing catch... keep your eyes open - makes it m uch easier to see the ball... :D Softball is a lot of fun... you should have fun playing... enjoy!!

Yay- the scale is back where it should be!! It's only a smidge lower than it was on Monday, but I'm just glad it's back down :) I've really been hitting the Turbo Jam hard- That workout makes me sweat disgustingly!!!- but at least I know I'm working!

Turbo Jam: That sounds intense. Is that a tape? I wouldn't stress to much about the scale if you were exercising really hard maybe you built some more muscle. This is after all the beginning of a new week! Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow morning!

Hi Val,

I finally figured that map thing out. Thanks for your help. You are probably losing inches, but gaining some muscle. Don't let the scale be the only judge of how you are doing. Time to buy some new shorts I would say if you can pull them up and down without unbuttoning them!! Whoo Hoo!

Have a great rest of your day.

MMMM, I love a good salad, that made me hungry! You're doing really good.

On the throwing and catching thing, even if you're not the most coordinated with it at first, you will get better at it. And its cool that its something you can do together!

Ok, from 10 years of youth baseball coaching experience I can help a bit.

Catching - before going onto the softball spend 5 minutes with a tennis ball and no glove. Get used to feeling the ball going into your hand. Then put on the glove and switch to the softball.

Throwing - Don't start out stepping to throw. Stand with your left leg (assuming your righthanded) forward and your legs in a position like you're walking. Now work on transferring your weight from back to back as you throw. Soon you'll be ready to step and throw.

You are a MUCH better coach than my bf is. He is more of a "well just throw the ball" kind of coach- He also threatened to make me do push-ups if I dropped the ball! Eek! I do NOT do push-ups. lol

That is one of my big aims that I had forgotten until now, to be able to do one proper push up. I have only ever been able to do box push ups, and I still found those tough  . Now I have been doing weights, I must try and see how I get on attempting one. I shall have to try tomorrow, I can't this evening, I've eaten too much

Keep up the fab work ;)

That's so exciting about being able to pull your shorts up and down without buttoning them!! Congratualtions!

I heard of those salad spritzers. But it's only available in the states so far I think. :( Boo. Cause I wanna try it too!
Have fun playing softball... Don't break any windows! ;)

Hey Val, just checking on you to see how your weekend went.

So I take it the Turbo Jam is working. Good to know!!!!

Hope you have a great week!

Wow, Val...your boyfriend is a hard ass coach!!! You are going to be a regular Roger Clemens by the end of the summer.

LOL, well listen to the coach. I probably would have been more hard ass, but I started out coaching 5 and 6 year olds. One of them is 6'2" and 300 pounds and plays Center on the Indiana State Football team. I really am glad I was nice to him when he cried through his first tee ball practice.

good luck

Hi My name is Trina, I weigh 235lbs I bought this micheal thurmond 6 week body make over plan. It works wonderfully, except I can't seem to stick with it. I have started it three times, this is my 4th attempt. I really want to do this my goal weight is 145. I wake up everyday and pray to not mess up, & stick to it. I have trouble giving up mexican food. I love it... the first time I lost 8 lbs 9 1/2 inches in 4 days. It works, then my house burns down. lol so the depression of all that on me I quit. I could use tips and any hints you might have to help make this time count.

Val, you are doing SO WELL! Forget the silly scaoe. With all the exercise you are getting, all your fat is turning to muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat--but it takes up LOTS less room. That's why your shorts are so loose.

Try measuring everything--hips, waist, bust, upper arm, thigh, etc. Write it all down, and remeasure every week. Then, even if the scale doesn't move, you'll be able to tell how far you've come :)

Keep up the excellent work!

Great thinking Silver Sonnet. The scale is probably the least accurate way of measuring fat loss, especially when you are exercising. Measurements are much more accurate ;)

Okay- so it looks like it's time for an update.

First of all- Silver- I actually took all of my measurements the day I got my TurboJam DVD's in the mail. I should probably do an updated measurement soon so I can see what's going on. I feel like doing it every week might not show enough progress for me, but maybe if I do it twice a month (on payday :))

On to other news- I know that I reported that I can pull those silly pair of shorts off without unbuttoning or unzipping them, but I'm no longer feeling so excited about that. (Well.. I am excited b/c I think the shorts are ugly and I'm glad that I can't wear them anymore- lol) The problem is that none of my other clothes seem to be fitting me much differently.... with the exception of some of my pants being a bit baggy under my butt. But I can't even get excited about that b/c I carry the most of my weight in my midsection- so I look ridiculous in pants that are still kind of tight in the stomach, but are way too loose in the back. Grr It would be one thing if I had only lost 5 pounds or even 10... but I'm finding it very frustrating to have lost over 20 pounds and not see any notable difference in my clothing. Did anyone else have this problem??
