Uhhhhhhhhhhhh....

i had a candy bar today, and yesterday and the day before :( they were christmas presents and actually layed on the floor for a while but i suddenly had a sweet tooth these past 3 days....

when people say eat healthy, it is REALLY that bad if u have a candy bar once in a while? i mean i reads like 170 calories and like around 26g sugar, which is quite equivlent to a juice box....

does that mean juice boxes are dangerous too?


well now, my real question, how bad are candies towards weight training?
 
They are bad, but if you limit yourself, and make it a "treat" and not a regular thing, I don't see why it would ruin your progress.
 
if you didn't know that juice is almost as bad as soda pop, you haven't been hanging around here enough :)

juice and soda, equal amounts, have nearly identical sugar, and calories. the only difference is the type of sugar (although many juices still use HFCS, just like soda pop).

The way I like to think of it is: Pick your poison.

I, like you, sometimes get a sweet tooth. And that's OK, a piece of dark chocolate cures that! On the contrary, I avoid feeding my sweet tooth with soda and juice, and only drink water. If you find yourself indulging in all kinds of varieties of junk (chips, soda, chocolate, candies, juice) it becomes hard to moderate...least for me. :D
 
whenever i get a sweet tooth for candy, i eat a detour protein bar. those things are good!!! its a better desision than a snickers too. i just got a box of detour oatmeal bars mmm theyr really good with 30 protein each.
 
candies are terrible! horrible! there a gate way food! before u know it, ull be doin the hard stuff! like mcd's! and burger king! lol heheheh :)
 
hey its tough.Im finding that like most things theres no black and white answer but look at it like this.If youre trying to lose weight you know its a set back,if youre trying to bulk its worthless calories.But a small cheat really isnt gonna affect you that much phsically but mentaly it could be disastrous.
This is of course only my opinion.
 
No food is bad for you if eaten only every now and then. Thast why we live healthy so that if you want a freakin candy bar every now and then you can do it and not beat yourself up over it. Just dont make it a habit!!!
 
On straight physiology , and bio -chem ..absolutely nothing!.. In the past when I've come up with diets for ppl to really gain weight quickly it's a combo of dry carbs and a refined sugar..

Of course there are better ways to do things and yes lemon juice negates the sugar should you slip but really.. Not to sure about the fat on carb with that much sugar unless you're doing on on a really low carb day but contingincies are goood. sugar sh*t.. but travel enough and want to work out anyway and you'll see that there are many ways to run a race.. if you want to get there you will.. oh and considering it's the sugars that inject your carbs into your muscle for hypertrophy.., .. it'sd nOt so bad..

it's the metabolism slowing down that you probabl want to avoid though if can and thaat only happens if you do it as habit..

I wish i could eat candy bars :(. Every time I eat one it ends up on my face!! :mad: If you want to eat one, try to find a good tasting one that is sugar free, if that makes a difference.
 
I disagree. I think that if you haad to do a chocolate every now ad then try for something low fat and clean up your dry carb intake.

If you want the science, that's it. if you don't want the chocolate then don't eat it.
there are heaps if good protein bars that are okay and have loads of other good stuff in them aswell that you might want t check out for an alternative .. or carb bars with a choc coating that have maybe 6-8 gms of carbs, less than 5 or so gms of fat ( which if you're not getting many elsewhere is okay.. ) and the majority of sugar comming from fruits and thoose doing really good things for your spleen and bowels ad glycos and so on.... the dark choc cherry is pretty good and gives you a healthy antioxidant hit aswell.. and if it wasn't alreeady attractive then you can break it up and microwave it into your egg whites ..

There are definately loads of alternatives .. I'd maybe investigate those ;).
