UFC & Football

WOW for Tang Soo Do here they wated $80 a month...but then you could go to as many classes a week as you wanted and use their gym....but still nuts when all I wanted to do was learn the MA anyways

When is the UFC fight gonna be?

Matt Hughes is a freak of nature and will win easy imho. However, I probably won't get to see it over here for several months after it has taken place anyway...

im new to this whole UFC thing..what exactly is it? like is it someone who is a master of Ju Jitsu v master of Jeet Kun Do or something like that.

UFC used to be crazy with those kinds of odd matches, but now everyone is pretty much MMA, which is mixed-martial-arts. It's like learning how to grapple and strike. There are a variety of styles people use to fill these, most predominantly being kickboxing, kempo, muy thai, brazillian jui-juistsu, wrestling, etc.

First time I watched the UFC, I was shocked by the brutality of it and had to look away (although, in retrospect, it was a spectacularly brutal fight even by UFC standards). I'm pretty much desensitised to it now unless there are broken bones - I can't stand seeing bones broken, not that it happens very often.

I just found out that UK Sky TV will be showing the Liddell vs Couture fight on 5th Feb!! :D

Predictions anyone? I love the ice man but, I'd also love to see Randy kick his *ss again!

Pride Fighting Championships is better than UFC, in my opinion. The class of the fighthers, with the exception of the welter weights, is much higher in Pride.

We have no access to that in the UK unfortunately so, the UFC will have to do *shrugs*

well i got out UFC from the video shop...it was pretty good apart from all the advertising of products and sponsers which i found a little offputting..i do understand however that sponsers keep the thing moving along so i could put up with it.

it had 8 fights on there

Andrei Arlovski (defending his UFC title) against somebody...they said he was waiting for some guy to get better before he could unify the title...it was against some blockhead guy with a huge gap in his front teeth.

and one of the other fights was Rich Franklin Taking the Title from Evan Tanner.

Those were both good fights as far as I can remember - was the arlovski fight the one where the other guy popped his knee at the end?

The Tanner/Franklin fight was the 5 round war where Tanner looked a mess at the end, wasn't it?

Wow, thats real suprising. Pride is HUGE in about every other country than the US. Here, the UFC seems to be more popular, but as soon as you leave the US, its all about Pride.

yeah that tanner guy was f*cked up..deep cuts above his eye...the referee stopped it because of the blood running into his eye...and the first one was foul when his knee popped..even the commentator commented on how gross it looked.

I've never heard of this Pride fighting - are there DVDs available?

Yeah, the knee pop was horrible - they kept replaying it in slow motion! I couldn't watch! lol

Yea, there are plenty of DVDs available.

Check out pridefc.com for more details. I actually just ordered a bunch of DVDs from netflix.

Looking at some of the DVD covers, it looks like the fights are in a more traditional ring arena rather than the octagon that I have become familiar with. Is it a standard sized boxing ring or, is it larger?

Heres a kool UFC video of a fat guy vs small guy
