Trops Diary

I'll take any opportunity to celebrate.

This is what I say when I bust out champagne.

When C, Nick and I drove back from the Hay Maze Party at 6:30am, we stopped at U-Save Liquor and bought a bottle of Gloria Ferria's Blanc de Noirs and some orange juice.

What the hell is a liquor store doing open on Saturday morning at 7am, and selling alcohol to 3 kids with hay in their hair, one wrapped in a blanket???

Your guess is as good as mine.

The clerk was an old man who barely looked at us. I doubt we were his first customers that morning ;)

I have a favorite bagel place around my neck of the woods as well, and it's not that Einstein's shit... A couple started their own bagel store about 10 years ago here and I've been eating them ever since highschool... Their asiago cheese is like none other and to die for. They also make their own hummus and all their own cream cheeses. They make all kinds of things. So so good.

Turkey day is just right around the corner. I have no idea where I will be this year. My family isn't celebrating together because my dad and his wife are going to CA... whateves. Lucky for me I have lots of friends and extended family, so I'm sure I will find a place. I think I will probably be working though... we shall see.

Well, today I am in a bit of a pickel work out wise. Normally this would be a cardio day for me, and I was looking forward to getting another good run in, but after Monday's run my ankle has been bothering me. Twinges of pain like I twisted it, but I don't think it's serious. It's more likely just overworked, so I want to give it a rest. That gave me an unplanned day off. Now tomorrow I should make up for it by going for a run or jump rope or something, but then that backs up my lifting plans and since I didn't have the best lift yesterday I really should make up for it tomorrow. :banghead: I think if it wasn't for the fact that they are predicting rain I would drag my bike out and hit the trails. I hadn't done that in months. Way too long. :banghead:

Also, I have this good dinner planned with buttermilk chicken, sweet potatoes and asparagus. Now do I scrap that and go hungry to make up for the lack of exercise or do I just eat it and figure that it's all woking out.

Damn, How long have I been doing this? I really shouldn't stress on this.

I'm going to go smoke a pipe and chill out. :sifone:

Ha, better then that is to roast the garlic into the bread. :drool5:

Uh, Ye-ah! Duh! :iamwithstupid:

Even if you do already, be sure and lift your leg, hold it, and swivel your foot several times in one direction, then the other--repeat on other leg, BEFORE AND AFTER each and every run, AND DURING if it feels weird. I notice that is solves the pain problem for me everytime, miraculously. With hope, it will work for you too. Never be afraid to upset your inertia by stopping to take care of your ankles :smash:

Hmmm, can you eat really small portions?

I do that with my ankles. It's part of my post running stretching routine which I really have been making a focus.

Everything I planned for dinner is all good. The way I do the buttermilk chicken is to soak the cutlets in LF buttermilk for 3-4 hours and then bread and bake. No oil, so it’s pretty healthy. The sweet potatoes I’ll make into fries and bake them, too, so that’s good. All of this takes the same effort to make three servings as one. I’m going to be working evenings for the next four nights (including tonight) so I’ll just make it up and go with it. I just have to stop beating my self up over the little things.

(the pipe is helping. Sorry all you ex-smokers :D)

Oh, strictly tobbackie. I'm not a smoker, per say, but I will have a cigar or a pipe from time to time. Once a week, but usually not even that often.

Not so much with the green. My drug of choice is definitely alcohol. Alcohol in all it's many splendorous forms. God, I love the drink. I think when I get off work tonight I think I'm going to our a big ole glass of Balvenie double wood. Oh, yes, that will be nice. :D

:rotflmao:I am laughing here. Everything from the bagel talk to the food cooking to enjoying a good drink.

A recent common activity of mine was to hang out with a neighbour Friday nights and we would indulge in a few beverages and the discussion would always turn to food. Fine restaurants, home cooking including a good bar-b-que which after one of our many discussions, we built our own outdoor cooker and now roast a pig every summer in the backyard. Guy Fieri is my hero :) Now that I am 'getting healthy' though, I was getting ansy about missing out on those great talks.

Anyways, I am laughing because instead of drinking all those weight gaining drinks now, I know I can come here and have some good ol' talk with you on great food and cooking methods. :)

I hear that! Of course my poison of choice is Jack Daniel's. Gentleman Jack is probably my favorite of the different types.

I LOVE Guy! His Diners, Drive-ins & Dives show is fantastic! Even though I wouldn't really be able to eat at most of the places he goes, its still fun to watch. Guy seems like somebody it would be fun to hang out with.

I like Gentleman Jack, but regular JD I just can't stomach. It is so rough that I wonder why I used to like it in my youth. I guess if I was mixing it then it would be ok, but I tend to not do that so much anymore.

I don't know Guy Fieri, but I don't watch television. I have a TV, but it's only hooked up to a DVD player, so I am very much out of the loop on that stuff. I do like a pig roast, though. We had our annual one Halloween weekend. Ooh, that was good.:piggy:

I used to be a JD drinker... my friends thought I was hardcore... LOL I just prefered it... but now I can't even stomach the stuff!!

Way to plan out your meals!! And I agree its not worth the energy to worry about the small stuff... You're doing great!!

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men... I planned on making things light last night, but then I ended up eating more chicken then I wanted to. I skipped the sweet potato all together and doubled up on the asparagus so that was good. I also made a big thing of mushrooms. I often forget how good mushrooms are. One serving is 20 cal with 2g of protein. I'll make about 3 servings and I'll have a huge pile of mushrooms. The way I make them is slice and put in a pan with just a very little olive oil. Then add a splash of water while cooking to keep them from burning. It comes out really good.

I did have a nice glass of Balvenie when I got home. Oh, did it taste so good. I'll have to make sure not to make it too much of a habit, though. :cheers2:

My ankle is feeling much better today, so I think I'll be all set for running tomorrow. Today I'm hitting the gym and I'm going to hit it hard. :smash:

I had the good gym session that I wanted. I went and started a lift workout. I mixed it all up so that the exercises that I usually do first I did last and damn, what a difference. I finished up with a bench press and I tell you, I could only do three of the weight that I normally warm up with. When I finished up I was just lifting the bar. That's pooped. :svengo:

From there I went to the elliptical machine. I didn't want to strain my ankle as it started to act up again, so I did a steady pace HIIT. I kept things at a pace of 120 steps per min and then for 30 sec of each two minutes I would increase the resistance by 50%. When it was time to go I was shot. All with keeping a pace of 120. :hurray: I'm hoping that tomorrow will be good for running.
