Trops Diary

I stand by my earlier comment, you are hilarious! Oh wait...punchy! Nice calves and gratz on having a new nephew :) I'd say gratz on being a new uncle but...that may not be right? lol Now where's these kilt pics everyone keeps talking about? I didn't come all the way over here for nuttin! ~Lisa

Whew, fun weekend. I got to see my new nephew and my brother is just beside himself with joy. I am so happy for him. There was some celebrating happening. My niece got 11th in the state cross country meet. She was hoping to do a lot better, but I think unless she gets first or a personal best she wants to do better. She did qualify for regionals, though, so she still has a another chance to impress the college scouts.

Yesterday we went to Manhattan with the kids. God, I love that city. I love being out here on my own land with nature around, but the rush of the city. If I'm ever silly rich I am definitely getting a place in the city just for fun. My wife has a conference there, so she's staying for a couple nights in a hotel. We drove in with her and walked around, went to Central Park, went to the American Museum of Natural History, ate falafel from the street cart, pizza for dinner. The kids were so great, too. They would love being city kids. That is not what I wanted for them which is a big reason why we left.

Good morning and happy Monday! Just wondering if someone was going to do a Nov challenge... like the ocotberfest one.... I am desperate for motivation!! And accountabiltiy for that matter!!!

Hey, Dee. I opted not to do a November challenge for a couple reasons. First, no one seemed to be all that into it. Also, I'm changing up my workouts a bit this month. I really want to build some muscle and you really can't do that and lose weight at the same time.

If you want accountability, I'm sure that you will get plenty of volunteers to ride you.

Ah makes sense... its hard to be motivated when no one is interested. And I bet with the holiday's fast approaching people are on the lax anyway...

I will dig inside myself for motivation... its in there somewhere!!! I think I just need to hear negative things every once and a while... oddly that fuels my fire!!!

Trops, congrats to your bro--a son! All right!

I know whatcha mean--I was in Oakland and Berkeley yesterday and definitely like City Life to an extent. Lu and I had to pick up our friend who lives by 71st and International Blvd. Hahaha, homeboys tried to stop the car before we got Ken and his Blue Fawn pitbull in. I sure do love East Oakland :D but yeah, wouldn't want to raise a family there--Ken was telling us his hood is NO JOKE--hell, Too Short's from there and I'm sure it inspired his song

Congrats on the Uncle thing Trops!

Curvie - Great song... I haven't heard that in YEARS!! Wow, I need to download some more "Old School"!! Good memories/times.

Today I wanted to get a lifting workout in while the kids were at school, but it didn't happen. I had the opportunity to switch a dentist appointment to this afternoon so I took it. With the things I had to do and the appointment right in the middle of everything, I just didn't get there.

I did make the most of it and went running at work. I ran 6.2 miles in 55 min, 58 sec. That is just about a 9 min mile. Funny thing is I really felt like I could have gone longer, but I was really pushing the lunch hour with that. Perhaps this weekend I can go for a longer distance. Also, it was dark before I even started, which was a first for me. I did kind of like it.

Food was good, but I didn't have any coffee, so I was almost falling asleep before I went running. My coworker had bought a box of peanut butter cups from my daughter's Girl Scout fund raiser. I delivered them today and as luck would have it, he was on shift with me. A bit after my run he opened them up and offered me some. I knew that with a good run in, I could afford to have one or two. I had none. Funny thing was that I wasn't even tempted. Looking at the box I know how bad they are, so I was even more grateful to have skipped out on it (880 cal for the box with 60 g of fat :ack2:) The box was empty by the time he went home. There was a time where I'd be the one to eat a box of chocolate and not think twice about it. Ha, I still can do that, but now I have to think about what I'm doing. :cheers2:

Great job on the running, and way to not be tempted!! I could pass on the cookies no problem, but if he would have had a big bag of chips... more effort would have been required! :D

The more I read your quote in my signature... the more I like it!! I was that guy that always said "I could do that if I wanted", or "I'll get in great shape when I have time" or even " I could have done that... that's not so impressive"!! I was literally that guy letting time pass, uncontrolled, and without direction!! Now, I see that, and can truly appreciate someone summing it up in a few words!!! I will never be shown up by what I COULD have done!! THANKS TROPS!! You are "pretty smart"!! :D

Wow, that IS a good run! I'm doing my lunchtime walk later... time to start adding running to it. Especially if I want to get to where I can run the entire thing. Step by step.

JZ is right... that is a great quote. :hurray:

:hurray: EXCELLENT RUN!!! :hurray:

Cheers to running for a lunch hour :cheers2: Ya KNOW you got that from me ;) Just kidding.

Damn your wife is hot as hell, lucky you!!!! :drool5: Is she Irish?

Your kids are adorable and you look great in your Pirate costume--nice looking family all around, someone got beat with the Beauty Stick! :hurray:

Yeah, maybe I'll get a marathon under my belt and can attribute it to you, too. :D

Yeah, she is hot as hell, and yes I am lucky. :cheers2: She's mostly Irish with a quarter Italian.

We were in the city Sunday and I got the kids some frozen yogurt and the guy at the yogurt stand was saying how beautiful the kids were. Yup, Ugly dad +beautiful mom = beautiful kids. Thank God! :biggrinjester:
