Trops Diary

I have a sister who is a serious runner and she says that she loves running in the rain. Myself, I have yet to try it. I just imagine blisters galore. Perhaps she was being sarcastic. :gnorsi:

That might be it. She's one of these people who actually enjoys running. :ack2: I still hate running, but I do like getting better at something that is tough and I really like the way it burns the shit out of calories.

How to turn a 5 into a 10

Using the JZ scale of rating a workout, today's run started out as a 5. I did a 5k in 28 min, which is about a minute and a half slower then I should be doing it. Sure the wind was blowing which really slows you down, but I just wasn't feeling it. Oh, well, you have to have some bad workout, too, right? Then as soon as I stopped running I had an idea. I grabbed my jump rope and jumped a thousand jumps. Then I ran another mile. Then I jumped another thousand, then another mile, then another thousand, then another mile. Then I stopped.:svengo:

Holy shit. I was dead. The whole thing took an hour and 21 minutes. I was so dead at the end. I usually run between an 8.5 and 9 min mile. My last mile was just about an 11 min mile.

Thanks, right now I feel dead. I'm feeling it big time in my thighs. That's something that I haven't felt in a long time. It's good to know that it's doing something.

I'm so so impressed. There is no way I could do that even if I wanted to. I don't think I could even do the 5k you did first. I ran one once maybe 5 years ago, and it was not good as I neared the finish line. I'm really surprised I even finished it. I hope you feel really proud of yourself. I love doing more than I expected I would. It just feels so good.

Thanks, Ginger. I am proud, but not so much because I did it, but because I was having such a lousy run and then pulled out my best one yet. That, for me, is a big accomplishment. The numbers are just that. How long and how fast and what not. That all changes, but this was a big change in motivation, and for that I'm happy. Thanks

When I told my wife about my run she asked, "What are you trying to do, get rid of all that cheese you ate last night?" Uhm, yeah, a little. "Speaking of, is there any brie left? I didn't get any." Uhm, no. I'll pick some up on my way home if you like, but I'll probably eat that too. "Don't bother" :biggrinjester:

Ha ha I love it!! As I have said in the past you are a BEAST!!! I bet you burned some serious calories during that run jump session!!! Any plans to start incorporating that kind of training into your typical workouts??

Glad you're having a great weekend!! :)

So obviously, after the "turn around", the scale number was a 10!!?!?!???

Yeah, it was a 10. Actually I think it might have gone to 11. I really don't want to go to that extreme again for quite a while. :D

I had a nice NSV yesterday. We have friends that sell t shirts with original artwork on them. They were in town for a show, so we went yesterday. I've pretty much been hovering between a large and a medium depending on how they size, so I wasn't sure where I'd fit. The guy said that he thought that I'd be a large or an extra large (I was wearing an XL shirt at the time, so I was hard to judge.) Feeling a bit proud I tried a medium and it fit really well. He was shocked when I came out wearing it. My wife was at the next booth, so I went there to get her opinion. "Honey, does this fit right or is it too tight?" Not only did she say it was perfect, the women at that booth were very complementary. :biggrinjester: OK, I'll take two.

It is a friend who sells the t shirts. I told him that I'll take the medium and that the women said it was not too tight. He said, "Yeah, if you got the guns you might as show them." Always the salesman, huh? :biggrinjester:

I forgot earlier... I watched Boone Dock Saints this weekend and thought of you! Not due to the whole "take the law in your hands and hand out punishment" thing, but because of the Irish theme song! It's really quite good. Check it out if you haven't heard it before.

Stopping by to say hi....ya know I have to say one of the things I really enjoy about you is your sense of humor to things you really do brighten up the people around you

I love The Boondock Saints. What a great movie. Yeah, I'm not for taking the law into ones own hands, but in a movie, what fun. I love those brothers, too. I've heard for a while that they are coming out with a sequel, but nothing so far.

:blush5: Awe, shucks. :blush5: Mostly I just make others look good by comparison, but thanks.

I heard that too! My favorite character, besides the brothers, and their friend, and Defoe's character is the bar tender with Terett's! When he's at the hospital with the kids and the nuns... priceless!
