Trops Diary

HAHAHA, actually our landlords brother and sister-in-law live across the street from us. when we moved in and they saw Ashleigh they went out and got her a soccer ball. She's just still too little for TEAM soccer. she mainly just makes me run all over the place chasing her while she kicks. :D

Ha! I'm trying to get into a smaller shirt. I was a tightish XL when I started, now I'm a loosish L. If I can get into a M I'll be very happy. I don't mind tight around the arms, but I can't stand tight around the belly.

My jumps per min are around 155 with the new rope. The old rope it was around 147 +/-. I think I just have to get used to this new rope and I'll really be kicking it up all around.

That's like frickin' sprinting man. Hardcore. Hardcore.

Way to get into an L!!

Jump roping eh? I bet that is burning off some mean calories! Good for you. I've been doing some jump roping, only with no rope. That way I don't trip up on it. LOL I learned that technique from a workout video. Jumping with no rope. What a concept! lol

Same motions though, with the legs and feet. We had 5lb weights in our hands that we turned like a rope while jumping.
be careful with that... Orthopedists caution againt walking with weights in your hands becausse it interferes with the natural motion and can cause all kinds of shoulder and posture issues...

I went running today and got a new PB of 25 min and 50 sec for the 5k. That's an 8 min 20 sec mile avereage.

I realized that this was the first cardio I did since Monday. That's not good at all. I have to get back on it. :smash:

Nice work! You ARE getting faster, ALL RIGHT!!!!

Yes, get up and get on it! :hurray:

Things were hectic tonight. The kids had a lot of homework, and I said that we weren't going to the gym till it was done. They didn't get it done till 6:30 and then they had to have dinner and get ready for soccer pictures at 8:00, get home get to bed. These kids hardly had a minute to themselves. I hate homework.

I did run out to the gym while they were eating dinner. I didn't get a very good workout in, but I did do some real quick lifting. Bench press, pull ups, curls and incline sit ups. I raced from exercise to exercise. I'm not sure how effective it is, but it has to be better then nothing. I mean, when you just can't lift anymore, your muscles have done all they can and then it's repair time.

I was starving before and after. I had made some pasta and sauce with turkey meatballs. I just had the meatballs. Good protein, and not too much fat. I hope it helps.

Nothing like the smell of applesauce cooking with some cinnamon and spices to wake up a house in the fall is there?

Mornin' Trops! Way to squeeze in a workout on such a busy/hectic day! Thought about your jump roping this morning as I was attempting mine... 283 jumps was the highest I could consecutively get this morning :cuss: Was discouraged a bit, but after 38 minutes, and being completely exhausted, I realized I had actually jumped more times, just less consistantly. It was a great workout. I have to find one of those "count it for you" ropes!! Maybe thats the issue?? Anyways, Have a good one.

Yeah, JZ. I'm thinking that I have to get one, too. I think I have to relax a bit and just go for the long jump sessions. Kind of like when I run I just think about enything and averything (sic). Is it a form of meditation? don't know. It's just thinking as far as I know.

I'm trying to gear myself up for a long run this afternoon before the kids get home from school. I just have a bunch of chores that need to get done first. A day off just isn't a day off, is it?

It's gotta be some sort of meditation... I do it while driving :D
The mind is a powerful thing man. Wish I could be jogging and just "zone" instead of thinking... damn this is hard... how did I let myself get so out of shape... WTF are my pants fallin down...!!!

I hear you on the days off... just off from being one place at a specific time for another!! Dropping this pile of shit for that pile to do!

Let me clarify... I didn't mean time with the kids, or family, or friends... just the "this needs fixed... or they need called... or if I don't do this now, it will never get done...!" kinda pile.

OK, I didn't get out last night because of one thing plus another and another. I was also starving and didn't have anything good ready to make or anything. I had made lasagna for the family, but that just doesn't work for me. I did have the smallest piece but my dinner was really a bowl of cereal and I just wasn't satisfied. I also wanted to get to the gym late, but again nothing.

I kept telling myself that I'd make up for it today, and I did go running. I had wanted to go farther, I always want to gi farther, but I did 5.4 miles in 48 min 24 sec. That's just under a 9 min mile average. I really wanted to do 6.5 miles, but again, when I'm passing my house it's just so easy to stop. I'm still glad about the time, though. Especially because on this route there are some long hills.

5.4 miles is still a hell of a lot better than I could do! I'm happy if I do 2 or 3 miles worth of trail running, and I sure don't get 9 minute miles when I'm doing that!
Sorry things didn't go your way last night.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE that I can do 5.4 miles. I want to love that I can do 10 miles. It's just the way I am.

You're starting to sound like a depressed teenager! :p

 All right!!!! You never know what you can do until you're doing it with a bunch of yuppies all around you! LOL! Seriously though--have you signed up for any races? Races intimidate and make you insecure. But during the race you find you can run better than you ever do in training, and the people make you push yourself, and when it's all over you end up proud you did it and ready to train and do BETTER the next time! Now I realized why I race, thanks, Trops! DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!
