Trops Diary

Hmm, better in what way? Weight loss, I doubt it. Work wise? It will be so much better. Fun? Should be a lot better.

It's the kids last week off from school, so I'm really going all out to make it extra fun. I took off from work till Sunday afternoon, so basically I have off all this week. My wife doesn't, but we're looking to get one or two days off for her. With any luck it will be tomorrow. If that happens, we are going to take off to Hershey Park, PA. From what I hear it's a nightmare for dieters, but I don't care. Chocolate heaven. The kids have been hearing about this place and dieing to go, so going right before school starts should make a good end of summer. The plan is to head there tonight, about a 5 hour drive, find a place to stay and hit the park early. Do we stay one day or two? We'll have to play it by ear and work schedule.

Hey Trops! Thought I'd drop in and give ya some love since you've been so nice to drop by my place!!!!!!

My kids went back to school last week A to the M to the E to the M!!!! I love my kids but damn, summer vacation is a MOTHA! LOL

Sounds like you're going to have fun "End of Summer" bash with the fam! Hershey Park... as in the chocolate Hershey?! WOW!!! You better just enjoy that and screw the scale for a little bit lol... I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!! Off to eat some tuna ... :leaving:

Yup, Hershey Park as in the chocolate Hershey's. It's a huge amusement park. I've never been there but I'm really looking forward to it. We're leaving tonight and staying over near by. We'll be there for opening. :hurray:

The scale broke two weeks ago and I picked up a replacement just Friday. I bought one that gives body fat % and water %, or something like that. I get it home and some asshole switched a cheaper model with the expensive one. Now I have to return it. I've been going by a scale at work which isn't the most accurate.

Wow sounds like A LOT OF FUN!!! Can't wait to hear all about it....

I have one of those bodyfat % scales and I never use the bodyfat part... Because I'm 5'2 and at my leanest I way 130-135, it's not accurate. I have a gymnast's body and the scale doesn't know that lol... It tells me I'm a fat ass no matter what! :blush5:

Been taking this last week of unofficial summer off. We went to Hershey Park and it was amazing. What a great time. I had off from work all week so we just continued the partying right through. Now today it's rainy out, which put a stop to our plans of going out kayaking for breakfast. It would have been the first exercise I got all week, but now it'll have to wait.

Tomorrow I'm back to work, so I'll really buckle down then. Kid start school This coming week, so that'll make getting back into a routine a little easier. Well, as much of a routine as I can get into.

My scale died about two weeks ago. I finally bought a new one last week and when I got it home I found that some idiot had swapped the expensive scale with a cheap one. I am guessing that the expensive one went in the box for the cheap one and went home with idiot. I returned it and got the one that I wanted and just got on it. 210, but that was after breakfast. Not too bad for a week, (or rather a month) of not sticking with it. September will be that much better. The scale I bought also has BF% and water%. BF was 24% and H2O was 53%. I'll have to figure how it all works, but it's a starting place.

Hey Trops, good to hear you had a great time in Hershey... I'm cookin' s'mores tonight up at my cabin... that's as close as I'll get to Hershey for a while lol... ;)

Back on it

Evening Shift

Today is the last day of August. I weighed in this morning at 211, and a BF% of 25.5. Everything is up, so August is a bust. July wasn't so great either. Now the kids are starting school this week and it's a new start for me. Back on the straight and narrow.

Today I had cereal for breakfast, almond/cashew/cranberries for snack, two tomato sandwiches for lunch. That's about it so far. I'll probably have some cereal for snack when I get home. I know that is not enough food for the day, but I need to get back on the saddle.

We went kayaking today, but it wasn't really all that much of a workout for me. It was really blowing up quite a bit and we had to stop to rest often. It was great to get out, though. The kids loved it.

I went running at work instead of dinner. 5k in 27 min 50 sec. Not a good time compared to the last time I ran, but that was a week and a half ago. I really haven't done any exercise since then, so I thought it was a good start.

I have to figure out something for tomorrow.

Time to get back into the swing huh Trops? I know you'll do great in September. It does seem like the longer you stay away the harder it gets though huh?

Yeah, Shaun, I hear ya. I made some real good progress and I'm not about to lose ground. September is the time for me to kick it up a bit.

I sit right around 210 myself lately... It's actually been that way for awhile. I haven't actually weighed myself in a few weeks but I imagine that is where I am sitting at. I gotta throw it into high gear here and try and get under 200... I've been saying that for months because it is so much easier said than done :)

Good luck with the kids starting school here this week. Back into the routine will be good for you. I need to get into a better routine of things myself.

HI TROPS......yup...SEPTEMBER it is......I'm telling you,...I know what you mean about having a couple bad months.....ME TOO....I'm ready to do some CRUNCHING :smash: this month!!!!

....and YOU ARE RIGHT....I think it all lies in the schedule you make for yourself, and that was as AMAZING swap to take the RUN instead of DINNER!!! YEAAAAA, now that's MOTIVATING!!! :sifone: Smoking EM'!

Thanks. Yesterday was way under for calories. I'm not going to figure out how much but I know it was low. When I got home there was some leftover chicken breast so I made a chicken breast with mustard sandwich instead of cereal. I could have eaten three of them, but I stuck to one. This morning I got up and weighed 208.4, so I think I'm doing ok.

This morning I had coffee and cereal and then we went to the beach. The ocean was amazing. The kids are at the age now were they just love getting knocked down by each wave. It's fun for me, but so scary keeping them from getting pulled out by the undertow. Snacks at the beach were almond/cashew/cranberry mix and some RF cheetos. Not much of either.

Right now I'm at work and I'm thinking about making up some lunch/dinner. I picked up some veggies at the farm stand, and some chicken breast, so that should be dinner. I'll probably cook all the chicken to have this week. Even though I ran yesterday, I think I might go out for another run tonight. I'll see how it goes.

Evening Shift

When I got into work today, I hadn't eaten very much, and I wanted to go out running, so I thought I'd eat first. I cooked up a bunch of chicken breasts (only had one) and some Barilla Plus, and a diced up tomato. While the chicken and pasta was cooking I ate three ears of corn. Fresh raw corn is one of my favorite treats. It has to be picked the same day preferably less then an hour ago, but that's tough. Just husk it and eat it. So sweet and good. Three ears was not what I had planned on, but I should have thought of that at the farm stand.

Let that digest and then went for a run. I wanted to increase my distance, so I took it slower from the start. I also usually check my time at each half mile mark, so that I know if I'm slowing down and need to kick it up. I also have a slight down hill right before each half mile mark, so I pick up the pace there. Tonight I didn't. I only checked the time at each mile and didn't speed up on the down hill. I thought that would give me extra energy at the end, but it really didn't. I felt more tired, not less. My heart rate was slower for the whole time, too. 170 for most of it, and only 175 at the end. I did run an extra half mile, so 3.6 miles, but I really wanted to get at least 4.1. Maybe running two days back to back isn't the right way to do it. Yesterday I didn't eat anything after running till maybe 3 or four hours later. Tonight I had a protein drink right after. That might help. I might take tomorrow off, or maybe I'll just go again and see how it goes.

I really want to get up to a 10k by the end of this month. Not just finish, but finish strong.

Speaking of running. Does anyone have some suggestions as to what new songs I should add to my running play list?

Anything that inspires you. I'm constantly uploading shared files of albums of different genres, and yeah, electronica/Dubstep has been working for me although I never liked it before. HAHA! Hope September proves to be a great month. We are in the time of the Virgo, so diligence should come naturally (said the hippie freak) HAHA!

Well, I had every excuse in the book all ready to go. Shouldn't run three days in a row. My thighs are sore. Couldn't make it to the gym before work and it'll be closed after. Actually had some work to do at work (I know, what's up with that?) Finally the shift is winding down and I say fuck it. Jump into some shorts and start jumping rope. Did pretty good, though I wanted to do more, but didn't really have the time and, truth to be told, the energy. I jumped 4000 jumps in 29 min 19 sec. Pretty constant pace, but sprinted the last two hundred. Next time I want to do 5000.

So, go me and a good September. :hurray:
