Trops Diary

Day Shift, and just one shift. I'm getting out of work with only 8 hours in. Hooray! I thought that I'd head home and spell my wife from the kids so that she can get some work done, but she told me that things there are fine. She said we are going out for dinner tonight at a pizza place, so if I want to hit the gym on my way home that would be fine. Now I'm stuck with the decision do I go running today or go to the gym? Either would be good since I haven't had a real workout in almost a week.

What's your thoughts, people?

Hmm, I would choose running, but that would be because I have a running goal. I always feel great after strength training too... so its a toss up... Ha sorry I was like NO help.

I say flip a coin!:ack2:

Allow yourself a max of 2 slices of pizza and avoid the meats, especially the pepperoni if you can. Have a salad first to help fill ya up.

As far as exercise goes, I would think any exercise is good. The first thought that came to my mind was how often can you find time to go to the gym with the hours you work? You can run anywhere, anytime of day but most gyms aren't open 24hours. It's really up to you and what you are in the mood for.

:)

Heh heh. I went running yesterday, but it didn't go very well. I was really flying, much faster then my usual pace. I usually chew gum while I run because my throat gets real dry if I don't. Yesterday I didn't have any gum but I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it was. After the first mile and a quarter I was so dry I could hardly breathe. I had to stop. Sucked, but I was glad to be running that fast.

Pizza place was real bad. I did have a salad to start, and it was amazing. The tomatoes were better then the heirlooms that are coming up in my garden. Very impressive. Unfortunately, grandma told the kids that they could pick the toppings. Sausage, olives, and onions. Possible the best pizza I've ever had. I had three pieces. You really can not turn down an extra slice of the best pizza you ever had, now can you.

I might try running again today. I'll have to see what's up with the kids later.

Well I'm glad you got some exercise in, even if it wasn't your best run. I don't know if I could chew gum and run, I think it would distract me and I would just have to spit it out.

Don't even feel a bit bad about the pizza, when its a good as you say you can't resist!

Keep it up!

Thanks. I don't feel bad about the pizza. I feel bad that there was three slices that went home with grandma that I'm not going to get for lunch today. :biggrinjester: Actually I'm glad that they didn't come home with me because I'd probably eat them last night.

Day Shift

I'm just working way too much. This week was my wife's week where she doesn't have that much to do. It also happens to be the week where everyone has taken off from my job, so I'm stuck covering. The money is good, but I'd much rather have the overtime strung out through the weeks and not all bunched up in one paycheck. :( Now, today I'm supposed to be off at 4 and come back at 10:30 for another 9 hours, but my relief has a Dr. appt and will be two hours late. So I'm getting off for a whole 4 and a half hours. :ack2:

It's not that my job is all that tough, but I want to get home and play with the kids and get some yard work done. Go in the pool, maybe even cook a real dinner. Perhaps tomorrow. I'm not even thinking about a workout now. I'll have to get a run in some time tomorrow, but when I don't know.

Sounds like your a very busy guy lately Trops... I know about crazy work schedules, even though things have mellowed out for me now. I want to go swimming so bad this weekend. Work on my tan...

Pizza is hard for me. It can be so good if the toppings and crust and sauce are just right, then it is hard to stop with just one or two slices.

I don't usually chew gum while I run. I do always have to have a water bottle nearby though. I can't stand to be parched or have dry mouth while I am running, lol...

I've heard about running with a water bottle. Something on a belt, perhaps? I'll have to look into it because when I get my speed where I want it (<8min/mile) I want to increase my distances. Then I'll need a water bottle for sure. Either that or set up a water station which is way more set up then I'm ready for.

Get what I have, my awesome stretchy Velcro black belt with 2 8oz containers on clips and a......well.......it's a fanny pack. Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Perfect for my keys and Luna Sports Chews (or GU depending.)

By the way, I have sort of been using GU as an alternative to sweet snacks when The Tooth hits me. I just rip off a top of the 100 calorie packet and suck up some of the sickeningly sweet GU, and my desire for sweet things goes away immediately. It's so disgustingly sweet that I can only finish 50 calories worth before I'm like "BLEH!" and put it away.

50 calories versus 300 calories I could easily gobble in the form of chocolate, cookies, or ice cream :) I don't advise it, but it's a trick that works for me :D
