Trops Diary

There is a place at work where I can do some chin ups. Now, I'm not good at it at all, but the more you do the more you can do, right? I've been trying to remember to do them, and now I'm up to being able to do 7. Sure that doesn't sound like much, but considering that I could barely do one before, I think it's pretty good.

That's great! Yup, and you're right. I thought I'd NEVER be able to stand on my head without falling over or using a wall to get up, and I just kept trying and VOILA! Hmm, would be nice to get a chin up bar installed at the house. I bet Barre would be down....

I empathize greatly with you as far as assholes at work. I have the great fortune of not having any assholes at my job anymore--and having my own cozy office is pretty much a godsend. Or goddessend. Anyway, hang in there--I sure hate tense moments where the atmosphere is poisonous with bad feelings....

Ive seen the kind that clamp onto the top of a door frame. My sister has one and it easily supported my weight, so it must be strong. I just found a place at work that has an opening under a stairway and I grab the stair tread from underneath. Not the best way, but I can do it so it can't be all bad.

Yeah, my "brother" has one in his apartment in Oakland--when I was 143 lbs right before my Hawaii trip I managed 2 and a half chin ups--and he couldn't even do one (yet). That was pretty smug-bunny-ish.

At the playground I ask the kids how many they can do. They each can do two and almost a third. I am so proud. :beating:

:beating: It's great to be proud of youguns. I may not have my own children, but Kaya is my NIECE and her brilliance and charisma constantly make me proud to be Auntie Valerie. Here, I scanned the pictures in my wallet--she's such a ham!

Very cute. You are Auntie Valerie, not Auntie Bunny? My nieces used to call me Uncle Tropsie, but now they are too old for that. I'm just Uncle Trops :( High Schoolers are just too cool.

I tell her about my bunny adventures all the time. She named one of her many stuffed bunnies "Chubbuns" which was my shortened nickname for Chubby Bunny. I DO like her saying Auntie Valerie. Even at 2 years old, her voice was clear with no little kid accent and she pronounced Valerie with amazing clarity. I dunno, man, I really think she must have an IQ of 200 or more....

I think that most kids are scary smart. It's just when the system gets it's claws in them that they get dummed down.

I think our country would be much higher-regarded if we didn't allow "the system" to dumb down the kids.

Kaya told her mom she wanted to go to school a month ago. She is only 2 gonna be 3 Dec 20th. Mom put her in the Montessori school up here that's really good. Her first day she walked right in without kissing her parents goodbye and had a great time. It amazes me. I CRIED like a baby when I was sent to Kindergarten. WOW I used to be a major introvert.....

Would love to have a Montessori school nearby. The nearest one is 40 miles away. Just can't do it.

First the good news. I jumped rope tonight and did 10,000 jumps in 1 hour 5 min and 11 sec. That's just over 153 jumps per min. I'm very happy with that. I guess the new rope just took a little while for me to get in the groove. :D

Also, It doesn't count by a long shot, but after jumping I got on the scale and saw 195 My first goal. I know that it's a lot of water weight, but I feel like it's in reach. I am so doing it this month. :smash:

Bad news. Right when I finished I realized that my hip that was bothering me all weekend is now worse. I think it's just aggravated by an hour of jumping, but I don't want it to be injured. I want to go running tomorrow to cap off a good week. I'm thinking about trying to make a PB on the 5k. If my hip is bothering me... well I'll play it by ear.

Thanks, but the 195 is not real. I weighed right after an hour long exercise. It's a lot of water weight gone, but it's still nice to see on the scale. I've eaten some dinner since and drank a big glass of FF milk and two glasses of water, so I'm sure the scale is not reading low any more. We'll see Wednesday morning for official weigh in.

Thanks about the concern about my hip, but in case you haven't noticed, I'm none too bright, so taking care of myself is not something that comes naturally. :ack2: I'll try to remember, though. :sifone:

10,000 jumps just boggles my mind. I'm still trying to make it to 500. you are my new jump rope god. just so you know. ;)
Be sure to at least TRY to take it easy on your hip. There are few things as painful, or as hard to recover from, than a wrenched hip that you just keep pissing off. Been there, done that.
Even if the 195 wasn't "real" at least now you know it's a reachable goal. you'll get there. I have faith in my JR god. :D

Alta, that's so funny. I was thinking just last night about jumping music. I just downloaded Pitbull, Krazy, which is great motivator for jumping. Then I was thinking about Cypress Hill.

Weight this morning was 196.8 Tomorrow is official weigh in.
