Trops Diary

Guys belly dance. It's different moves from the women, but it's still part of the dance. It's all about isolation.

I was hoping to get to the gym tonight, but that just isn't going to happen. I got home and my wife asked me if I minded her going shopping with her girlfriend. First, no way would I mind. I'd love her to get out and enjoy herself. Second, her girlfriend just had a baby and has a need to get out of the house herself.

So, I'm not getting out. I could have taken the kids and they have a babysitting at the gym, but there is homework and dinner and getting to bed at a decent hour. Maybe I'll do push ups and crunches and such. Haven't done that at home, really. Might be a good thing to start.

I made a shrimp stir fry for the kids for dinner. I love that, but it's not good for me. So far I'm staying strong, but I'm going to have to get something to stave off this desire to eat. Funny, it's just now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not hungry, but I have a very strong desire to eat. Hmm. Gonna have to think about that one.

Gotta do that myself. Figure out stopgap work outs that can be done at home for conveneience sake. Sounds like a plan!

First of all thanks for the rep points Trops! lol
Second of all, what a great husband you are! How sweet of you to give your wife the free time she needs and to tend to the kids. But I could tell a long time ago that's the norm for you... :hurray:
I feel ya on the food and wanting it only cuz you're thinking about it or it's in front of you. I think having a family to cook for makes it TWICE as hard to stay on track... even if we fix healthy foods for them, there are certain foods we shouldn't eat if we're trying to lose weight.. damn that pasta!
So did ya get the pushups and crunches in? :)

Thanks, Paula. Nope, didn't get it in. I do take a bigger role in taking care of the kids, but mostly because my wife has a very high stress and demanding job. I wasn't giving her a break from the kids, because that's a stress reducer for her. I was giving her the time to just be around a friend. It's something that she just doesn't get to do that often. Getting out usually means in a group of friends or with business associates. Like tonight she's going to a dinner, but she doesn't really want to go. It's just part of her business. Probably means that there is no gym for me too, because my gym canceled babysitting on Fridays. :(

I know you take a big role in your kids cuz I've commented on it before. I think it's great that you both take time for friends in your marriage. So many couples just exclude the friends and it's unhealthy. Obviously, YOU do not have an unhealthy marriage. :D
So... I have these bands that I bought for a team I used to coach. They are great because they come with blue and black bands which are actually REALLY tough! Maybe you could invest in a set for those nights when you can't get to the gym. You can get the starter set for 50 bucks. Here's the link:

Thanks. I'll check it out. One big thing is that they are super portable. That can mean that I can bring them to work and do something on break or whatever.

Mornin, Ed. I was going to try one of your playground workouts yesterday, but the playground was TEAMING with kids. Can't take the kids toys away, now, can I?

yep! Perfect for that... You can take them on vacation too. I love the design of this particular set because you can combine the bands to make them more difficult. Great for guys!

Great job with those home workouts Trops. I have some dumbells at home that I need to start using myself, and get my arms back up to where they once were...

Sorry, Sammy, I haven't been doing the home workouts. I wish I had gotten into it, but still haven't figured out how to motivate myself.

Doing home workouts can be hard to get motivated. They are almost too convenient so you put them off. In case I havent pimped it enough around here I recommend

You can't unread it though and once you read it you will never have an excuse again.

I have shared some sample WO's on here before but I would be glad to throw them back out if anyone wants.

Been there, Wednesday, gave in, ate 2800 cals--made up for it yesterday to my chagrin, with an appropriate deficit. Was it all worth it? Not really, eating so much made me feel weird, afterward. Not guilty, physically weird. FIGHT the snack attacks! :boxing:
