Travis's Weight Loss Diary

Hey man, got your question in my diary..... figured I'd swing by here. I haven't had the time to read through exactly what you are doing.

But wrt the calories, the lowest I'd go is 2000. And that's extreme for someone your size.

If you fill out a typical day's worth of food on or the like, I'd be interested to see how many calories you are consuming.

If you find that you are not gaining or losing weight, whatever you intaking currently is approx. your maintenance. From that, I'd chop off 30% or so.

But before you do anything, I'd like to know the number.

I think what I am going to have to do is go a few days and really track my intake. I really can't guess what it was as I really wasnt paying attention. I will give this a few days to get an average number I won't try to meet anything I'll just try and do what I have been doing and see where I am at. That will give me some baseline to see where I am at.

That's exactly what you should do. Just me honest with yourself with our intake.

Many people 'smudge' the numbers once they start tracking. But the only way they can truly help themselves is to take accurate notes and figures.

Your dogs name is Romeo?? That makes me giddy! How cute. I have a 170lb malamute. His names Mace- I got him from the pound, and about three hours later decided that his name is Mace because he pees on everything.. Oh well, hes cute

Thats awesome that you keep getting better at running! While I'm still not a runner, I jumped on my stairstepper last night for bout 20minutes. Woosh! It pretty much sucked, but I kept going. Didn't do it tonight tho. How lazy,eh?
Keep up the killer work :D

Well I finally went to the store, its been forever really since I went to fill the fridge. Normally its just to go and get dinner or whatever. But yesterday I went and stocked up. I bought a TON of fruits and veggies! Everything from mushrooms to broccoli to apples to the big red grapefruits that I looooove so much. Anyway I am over loaded in that department and I don't want it to go to waste so I am going to make myself add more fruits and veggies to my diet.

Last night was a really good dinner. I know this recipe that I got from my mother. I just call it feta chicken. What it entails is:

3 Chicken Breasts Medium size skinless - 200 cals per breast (average)
half a onion (I prefer white or Yellow) 45 cals at the most!
A bundle of spinach (I cut the stems off) 40 cals at the most
and I container of the crumbled feta cheese (the container I got said 170 calories per serving)

I get a pan out and start heating it. In the meantime I Dice the half onion and Cut up the spinach into smaller pieces. Once the pan is hot I toss the onions in first and let them start to get soft. then follow that up with the spinach. The spinach really breaks down and if it doesn't look like you have enough you can add more spinach. Once its broken down I add the container of feta cheese. I wish I had the actual name of the kind I use it comes in the clear box container thing argh its at home ill look and add it back in when I get home this afternoon. The container has 3.5 servings in it.

Anyway those three things combine to a mushy paste. Turn the heat down and let it simmer. I usually make this with 3 Chicken breasts one for me, one for the roommate and one for lunch the next day ha-ha! Anyway slice the chicken breast in the middle making a pocket in it. Take the Feta, spinach, onion paste and stuff each breast equally. The oven should be pre-heated to 425 and I toss them in for 24 mins. So tasty!!!! and really pretty reasonable for the calories 455!!

Anyway I had one of those and a large piece of broccoli with 4 stalks of asparagus. So a very healthy dinner. and I was full!!!! Good thing too casue I was starving after my run!

The run was also really good yesterday I felt at the start like I had no energy and I didn't know if I would be able to push myself much but I did. Once I got going I started to feel energy returning. My goal with the run by next week is to be able to link the middle part with a moderate hill to the end run. I still have to stop twice during a run due to a cramp or just being outta breath but its much better than it was.

Oh and rumor has it that my shoes came today! Only 12 days after I ordered them, or at least it seems like it was that long ago. Seriously how long should it have taken??? Anyway they should be here when I get home and I am very excited to try them out!! Ok work time seriously ha-ha! I'll post more later.

12 days for shoes? Psh. Seems like a very long time.
Oh my goodness- that chicken sounds amazing! I'll hafta try it one day. I read this article once, and don't quote me, cuz its been a while, but it said if you get cramps in your side that means your exhaling on the wrong step. lol, I think I read it in Mens Fitness or muscle and fitness, something like that. (mens mags have some really good info lol) but yeah, don't know what it was all about to be honest... hmm. anyways, have a good one :)

Yeah 12 days for shoes can you believe that??? They did come laaaate last night like 7:30ish but god it took forever. Meh oh well at least I have them now! Woohoo excited to try them out tonight on the run.

Last night my roommate insisted on coming on my run with me. I guess its fine he has every right to but I guess I personally want to do that on my own. I felt added pressure with someone there and it made me uncomfortable. He did offer some insight though, said that I am hunching over a bit when I run. That's something I didn't notice so I think from now on I need to pay attention or at least constantly remind myself to stand up straight while I'm running. Just something to keep in the back of my head while I go. I have been so focused on my breathing and keeping the "I gotta stop" thoughts in order that I'm neglecting my posture!

Anyway the run was good and food wise yesterday was great. I am constantly going into the dinner area being at 700 cals a day. Then dinner I have to believe puts me closer to 1200 with a after work snack and after dinner piece of fruit putting me right around 1400 for the day. I think that's been the average over the past 2-3 days.

Last nights dinner was Broccoli, can you tell I loooove broccoli lol, baked potato and a boneless pork chop which I grilled with basil, oregano, and garlic seasoning. Mighty tasty dinner.

Today is my official weigh in day I have been doing it every Friday. here is my chart since I started:

September 7th 2007 --> 320 pounds
September 14th 2007 --> 313 pounds
September 21st 2007 --> 307.7 pounds
September 28th 2007 --> 303.8 pounds

Just under 4 pounds this week! That's pretty good I think right? That makes me really excited the first major hump is right within reach. The 300 barrier! That's my goal for next week. I don't care if I get to 299.9 as long as that lead 3 drops off my total!! Its going to take some serious work but I think I can do it. Plus that will be a great point for my trip next weekend where I'm going to Pittsburg to see the hawks stealers game. GO HAWKS!! ha-ha that's going to be a blast. Anyway Now to get some more work done hope everyone is doing Great and Happy Friday!!!

Congratulations on the loss! That is great! I don't particularly like running with people either. It makes it hard when you are trying to set your pace, but keep up theirs at the same time.

Thanks for the encouragement. I needed it. Yesterday was a hard day at school... makes me want to quit everything I am doing.

Have fun at the sea hawks game... I have to say that my hubby is a big Pittsburg fan. Be careful of the fans over there... they can get crazy!

I hope you are having a good day.

I never knew you had to be in certain position when running ... cool that you are able to do it .. Proud of ya! awesome!
keep it up!

Ugh... I was going to run tonight (in about an hour) but it just started down pouring here! I was going to go on my break from work... since its only a break, I don't have time to go home and change after a rainy run.

Is it raining up there? Are you running tonight? Good luck if you are! Hopefully this cloud will pass and I will be able to go.

And its Monday! Um hurray? No I miss the weekend! Oh well.

This weekend wasn't fantastic as far as food. It could have been worse. Friday was actually ok went to happy hour and people were ordering nachos and all the typical bar stuff that's awful for you. I had one chicken Quesadilla. So it could been worse. I didn't get to run Friday which was lame but hey it happens.

Saturday I woke up and had breakfast, a banana and some granola. Then I went on my run in my new shoes. They worked great! They feel a bit different from my normal basketball shoes and I think my feet are going to need to get use to them but all in all they worked out well.

After my run I went to the soap box car race in Freemont. Hilarious!!! I took some photos. Check some of these out lol they are classic. A few wipe outs and some really unique designs. It started to rain so we walked outta there and ended up a pub across the bridge. I ordered half a sandwich and some soup so taht was ok. We decided to walk home after that which mean climbing the back side of queen anne..... that is a tough hill but it was good to do.

Got home relaxed a bit then went over to my buddies house. His GF just broke up with him and he was pretty upset so we took him out on the town for the night. I stumbled home at some point.....I think I may have drank to much ha-ha.

Sunday was the bad food day the roomate and I ordered a pizza for the Hawks game. I only had 3 pieces over the course of the whole day but its crazy how your body reacts to that stuff when you hadn't had it in a while. Didn't make me feel good at all.

Basketball season for me started last night as well. So that was a good work out. No run on Sunday but the game is good cardio.

So in a nut shell that was my weekend. I didn't weigh myself this morning but I plan on doing so tomorrow. By the time I leave this Thursday for Pittsburg I want to be under 300. I think I can do it its gonna be tough but I think I can do it.

You can totally do it! Holy crap, you're doing soooo good. Have fun in PA to- I'm going to MO in a coupla weeks and just wanna get rid of like 5 more pounds.... tuff. VERRRRRY tuff. But it'll be nice to get outta Montana for a bit.
Just a few posts ago you said you were a little uncomfy with having people along on your run~ I'm with ya there! When I first started working out I thought I totally needed a friend to go along, and huh. I seem to have friends that after about three minutes of thing say, "sooo, do you wanna do something else now?" lol. Yeahhh, didn't take long for me to realize that by myself is much more productive. Ahh, what can ya do right?

Oh, and good job on the chicken quesadilla... I probably woulda ate a whole thing of nachos by my lonesome. *sigh* sad...lol

Hey Travis!
You sound like you are doing awesome!
I know what you mean about the pizza and your body already being adjusted to eating good things ...thats a good sign ... you only had three pieces ..as long as its once in a while... I don't think its a big deal .... I am sure you will be under three hundred soon, just keep treacking and the positive attitude to boot and you will do it hun!

best wishes to you

Funny story, so there was lots of left over pizza from Sunday like 2/3's of a pizza. It was on the counter during the day well fat little Romeo, my bulldog, somehow knocked it off the counter and onto the floor while I was at work. He consumed 2/3's of a pizza all by himself. lol he was so uncomfortable all night! The only good part about it was that it basically removed any further temptation to eat more of it when I had gotten home from work yesterday haha. I had a really good dinner of a lean steak with broccoli and asparagus. Very tasty. Tonight I am going to make some chicken but im out of dinner veggies, there are some green peppers but I need to wing by the store and get something else. Maybe some fresh Brussels sprouts.

This morning I had some granola and a big red grapefruit. My roommate thinks I am gross for eating grapefruit but I really like them lol so whatever.

Lunch was a turkey and ham sandwich. And lots of water.

The weather here today is awful, a steady mist of rain has been falling all day. Its going to suck to run in but better than a downpour I suppose. Still going to make myself go. I was at 302.8 this morning and 3 days left to get under 300 I have no time to dilly daily. A little mist never hurt anyone anyway. I'll be sure to wear warmer cloths though so I don’t catch a cold.

Alright supposedly I need to finish up some work lol well I really should come to think of it im going on this short vacation and I don’t want any of my jobs to go south.

I need a junk food eating pet... OR, better yet, the ability to look at junk food and go, What? Ew! Get that crap away.
Something tells me that NEITHER of those scenarios are gonna work

3 days Travis! No dilly dallying! Under 300, that would be one heck of a great start to a vacation :) Chop chop!!

A good run last night and a solid dinner of a lot of veggies and some left over steak from the night before. So eating was good running was good and it all worked out this morning I weighed in at 301! One pound left and I leave tomorrow night. I am going to really run hard tonight. And drink a ton of water I think I can totally get my goal.

I think I am going to change my run tonight and make it longer. I need to go to the Seahawks team store its right next to the stadiums which are a couple of miles form my apartment. My line of thinking is walk/run down there and back tonight and that will count as my run. it will be much longer than my normal route but I really want to kick the 300's ass today! I have a small backpack taht ill bring with me down there so when I come back I can toss my new gear in it and continue running.

I am getting excited and nervous for the trip. I have heard steeler fans can be brutal and my buddies and I are die hard Seahawk fans. I think I just need to be on my guard for the occasional drunk steeler fan looking a fight ill just need to recognize that and go in another direction. I love supporting your team and having a good time but some jokers take it to far.

Anyway tangent sorry. I ate really well so far granola and a apple for breakfast and a turkey sandwich for lunch. I am going for a light light dinner of chicken breast and brussel sprouts. Lots and lots of water. I am probably going really low on the cals today but its all about that one pound! Anyway back to work!!

but anyway .. you are doing stokingly hot! Keep trecking hun and you will reach your goal! And have fun on your trip!:jump:

It's the day of truth. Starting last week I had a goal by the time I left for Pittsburgh to be under 300. This I knew was going to be really difficult but I felt confident taht I could do it if I work hard. And I did work hard, really hard. No days off lots of running and eating really healthy. One of the tricks lately I have been doing is if I am really hungry at dinner is rather than eat more of the high cal stuff is just pile on more veggies and that fills me up. Anyway tangent. So when I woke up this morning I did not feel good about my goal. I felt heavy and in days past I usually wake up feeling much lighter than I did today. Needless to say I was really worried. I had such high hopes that I could start this short vacation off with a bang. Sluggishly I dragged myself out to the scale. Took a deep breath and stepped on. I couldn't look while the digital numbers flickered. With a deep sigh I looked down and saw.................

298.6!!!!!!!!!!

I freaking did it! Woohoo!! Goodbye to the 300's forever! It really changed my whole demeanor this morning.

I still hate the way I look with a passion but at least steps are being made to remedy that.

So anyway what a good way to start my trip huh??

Ill be around today but after that I probably wont be posting until Tuesday. I will be sure to bring back many stories and hopefully a Seahawks victory!

One last run today, you know I think I am going to bring my work out cloths to Pittsburgh I bet that the hotel has a mini gym and perhaps I can head down and use it while im away.

That is such a drop .. so stoked for you!! Good job!!
Keep trecking and yes the hotel will most likely have a gym ..so enjoy it ...you could always try running on the treadmill! :)

Congratulations on your loss! It always feels great to reach a goal! Good luck on your trip. Those Steeler fans can be crazy (I should know, I am married to one).

Hopefully the weather will turn around for us! It has been crazy lately. Did you get hail yesterday? Tonight would be a great night to go for a run, but I am stuck in the library until I finish this paper! I have to get something done before October fest (I will let you know how that goes).

Have fun on your trip!
