Tony's Log

So yesterday was the first day. Woke up and had 2 eggs, 1 slice wheat toast, and butter around 7am. I took two shakes to work, half strawberry whey and half vanilla casein each. I had the first around 1130am I think. I wasnt really hungry and I had the second shake when I came home from work around 330pm. I then had a chocolate Nitrean shake which didnt taste so great for some reason. Ive had another strbry/van shake since. Two more to go and day 1 is over. Not hungry really which is amazing.

Test of will came when I walked into work and found a table with cookies and chocolates laying on it. I avoided them until around 1pm when I ate a small cookie. It was about the size of a half dollar. Also had about 3 pieces of KFC popcorn chicken while feeding my son. I discovered that pickles have about 5 calories per so I may eat one if I am feeling the need to chew something. I dont really like pickles though.

I had a Blue Bunny Ice Cream Sandwich later though. Total calories for the day should be around 1600.
 
I must say that Quaker Mini Rice Cakes Ranch flavor are the bomb! I will never have to go back to Doritos. 10 minis have 70 calories FYI.

So the diet has been ok, Christmas Eve we went to the Olive Garden for my 1 meal (in addition to breakfast) per week. I probably ate way too much haha. Plus a candy here and there, tis the season.

Today I did my first workout since last Thursday. My gym is closed until Jan 2 so I worked out at home with resistance bands.

14 Stairs ~ 2 step jump to top with bear climb down x 2

Set 1
Squats w/ Red band - 20 Then went to squat with red and OHP with yellow - 2x20
Cross downward chop w/ green - 15, 2x20
Pushups w/red - 3x15

Set 2
Sitting Row w/red - 3x20
Pullthrough w/green - 3x20
Deadlift w/red - 1x20 then dl w/shrug - 2x20

20 jumping jacks and 10 jack knife situps to finish

This was a killer workout.

Ill check my weight in the morning maybe, but Saturday is actually the 1 week mark.

:shudder: you must be starving and delusional to think that styrofoam is better than doritos... :D

Protein sparing modified fast.

If I were going to go extreme in terms of dieting.... that's what I'd be doing.
 
It's basically crash (starvation) dieting tweaked to minimize protein losses.

Basically they looked at starvation first, which generates scads of fat loss but you lose too much body protein. Very simple concept actually; keep calories ass low but minimize protein losses by ONLY eating protein. Over time they figured out that 1.5 g/kg lean body mass of protein and NOTHING ELSE did this. That is what a PSMF is, 1.5 g/kg lean body mass of protein, some veggies, vit/min supplements and NOTHING ELSE. No fat, no carbs (or as minimal as you can make them.
 
Whoa. That's extreme. How would that look for a vegetarian. Eggs, nuts, tofu, peanut butter, cottage cheese? Even chick peas have carbohydrates.
 
You really shouldn't pretend to be someone your not, Tony. Sure your built, but, you're not THAT built...Tsk tsk...So ashamed of your own body you have to resort to using someone else's picture. ;)
 
Haha, it's certainly not a fun diet.

Result producing, yes.

But any non-retarded diet is result producing.

I've seen people use it with tremendous success and it's nothing long term. Short term only. I'll be doing it before this upcoming summer, I'll keep ya posted.
 
they are really one in the same..... just less emphasis on liquid diet from what i understand.

admittedly, i've researched the psmf as it's used in obesity research quite often and lyle has written an excellent book on the subject.

what i know of the v diet comes solely from t nation.
 
Yea, he really brought it to the mainstream fitness circles. If you want a good read, I suggest picking up his book, The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook. It's where he really gets into the PSMF.

But the PSMF is a diet that's been used in obesity long before Lyle brought it to the mainstream.
