Tony's Log

Pulled 300x1 for two sets today. Felt great to go up 5lbs.

Failed on 315 though. Dont know how much my strength will improve on my new diet.

My diet is 55% fat, 35% protein, and 10% carbs. It equates to 147g fat, 200g protein, and 61g carbs. I dont see too many big gains coming.

This is probably a super stupid question, but aren't you essentially on a low-carb diet? Or did you mean that your diet was like that for just one day? If you're in shape and all muscle-y already, then why so few carbs? Do you feel like you have less energy on this diet?

Edit: I'm just curious about why everyone does different things, sorry if I'm nosy.

Not nosy at all and I appreciate the inquiry.

I guess you could say I am low carb, but nothing like the numbers posted above. 61g of carbs is really low, and they add up fast. To tell the truth (which is what I expect you want :jump: ) I wanted to give the LOW carb approach a shot. I am not all muscle-y, and I see a lot of recommendations about low carbing to get really lean. Now granted Im probably about 13-15% bf right now, so I wanted to see how this affected me. I dont feel drained at all. Its tough eating certain foods and not eating others.

With this approach I had to cut out things like bananas and prunes. I am raising my carb count a little now because I need to bring cold meals to work. I have found these Mission Wraps Whole Wheat Carb Balance that contain about 26g carbs, but 21g from fiber!! So my carbs will go up, but not by much. With that my fat intake will be coming down.

Many people recommend carb cutting until you achieve a certain leaness. Im just testing out this theory.

Thank you for explaining! I'm curious to see what your conclusion is after trying it for a while. I looked for the Mission Wraps by the way, all I found are Mission Whole Wheat that have about 3 grams fiber/25 grams carbs. :rotflmao: I must find the wraps!!!

I hope you do find them.

Well its official, August 22nd Im gonna partake in my first triathalon.

Ill be (actually) updating my blog with my preparation.

Been a while since put words in here.

I bought a bike, and have hardly rode it since. I have in no way shape or form prepared myself for such an event as the triathalon. August 22 will come and go. Does this mean I wont attempt one? Hell no! But shooting for an event only one month away is like shooting myself in the foot.

On a side note, I bought some excellent material off of eBay this week. It should be here Wednesday I imagine. I am disappointed that the eBay store that posted it took so long to ship, considering I paid right after the auction closed Sunday night. Now its shipping tomorrow, 2 emails later.

If you're a member of jpfitness then you might've seen my post about considering the path of physical therapy. Its going to add about 4 1/2 years of school to my current situation. I could actually graduate with a BA in Psychology and a teachers certification in 2 but oh well.

Well here is a short article I just finished reading.
Article of the Day ~ TESTOSTERONE NATION - A Simple Method for Improving Hamstrings

Just a little tip about training those hammies.

My blog contains further info.

Since we are getting back into the swing of articles, here is another. I am currently running the Anabolic Diet and love it. Here is an article about it.

Bonus ~

p.s~ its written by a girl, ssshhh

That article is very interesting. It sounds like it could also work for someone who isn't a bodybuilder, but mainly interested in fat loss (like me). It sounds very similar to the Atkins diet, minus the carb loading weekends after the induction phase. As my weight loss has slowed down over the last 3 weeks, I am seriously considering trying this.

I did Atkins years ago, but the hard thing for me was not ever being able to eat many carbs. If I could have the carb-loading weekends after the inducion phase, I am pretty sure I could handle eating low-carb during the week.

Ya that article was geared more towards general fitness and regular people. I am on it and am not a bodybuilder.

Also the diet calls for less then 30g of carbs during the low carb phase. I am at 41g during the LC week. Stay low, but adjust it for your lifestyle. Most of my carbs come from vegetables and fiber anyways.

I've been eating about 55-80g of carbs per day lately, so I know I could bring it down below 30 without too much angst..lol And I've done the Atkins induction phase which is 20g per day. So no biggie. I'll just eat lots of non-starchy veggies to get my fiber.
