Tomble Rides Again!

This is my chart tracking my weight loss. Top is 120kg (264lb) bottom is 90kg (198lb). I actually started at 119.5 kg rather than the 117.7 I list on my sig, but 117.7 is when I started back here again.

The purple line is the goal line. If I can stay at or under that (in the peach coloured area), I will reach my goal at or before the 14th of October. So far, I have stayed under it at all times.

I find that using graphs and tables is a great motivator, if I feel a bit down or a bit tempted to eat, I can play with the graphs and look at what I have achieved, and see that I am still on the right track.

Damn! I don't take delivery of the rowing machine I'm hiring until next wednesday. I wanted to use it this weekend! Ah well...

LOL, We're both Tom, we both started almost at about the same place (270 for me), we're both ending at about the same place (200 for me), you're a bit younger than I am :), and we both love graphs and charts.

What are you, my alter ego? :D

Ha ha! I've been meaning to drop by your diary but I've been so busy I haven't had much time to post anywhere. Gotta love the graphs and charts, I've managed to stave off a few snack attacks by fiddling with the graphs for a while and cementing my desire to not go over the line. The one spreadhseet file has about 6 graphs in it!

Yay for the scales!!

I love the graph. It definitely reminded me of Tomo!

It's so valuable to do other things you enjoy that are also reinforcing your intentions isn't it?

That's why I post in this forum. :)

Hi Tomble. Just reading through your diary and wanted to say terrific that your are restarting your exercise. Also your walking is very inspiring. Congrats on your recent weight loss.

What a riot. Mine used to have 3 graphs in it, but then I added 4 more to it, LOL. I think the average person would look at all that data and run for the hills! :D

Thanks, Lisa! Inspiring, maybe, enjoyable, DEFINITELY :)

Haha, well we will have to compare notes. I have the following charts

Big fancy weight loss chart
Small weight loss chart
Very simple weight loss chart
Waist & chest measurement chart
Percentage done chart

What am I missing? The more the merrier! :)

Oh yeah! As of this morning I am at the 25% done mark! So far done, and so far to go! Went to a party last night and ate quite a bit, had a birthday lunch today and I'm going out for dinner tonight. I've been pretty good though, and I think my stomach capacity is way down because last night I was thinking `I have eaten SO much' but on reflection, it was about half of what I would have eaten previously ! :)

Congratulations!!! 25% already and it seems like you restarted such a short while ago! It's great that you are feeling the change in how much food it takes to make you feel satisfied too. :)

Hiya, Felici! I'm going at this pretty seriously, it hasn't taken me long this time, but it took me a LONG time to get restarted. Months of `I really need to get back to eating right... I'll start next Monday' type sentiments.

25% is pretty good, every milestone I can find I will take as a minor victory :) Next step - 33% :)

I worked out this morning that my resting heart rate, taken just after waking, was 52 beats per minute! Cool! It used to be much higher.

Howdy Handsome,
Thank you for the kid words you left in my diary,it means alot.

You're welcome. I was being a bit selfish though, you're getting progressively hotter and I can't wait to see the pics of you when you've reached your goal ;)

I was so pleased when I came back after my early year failure and regain and found you were still going strong, it really helped me get back into it.

Okay, so I just updated my spreadsheet thingy which tracks my weight. All I need to do now is put in my weight and it tells me...

... days elapsed, weeks elapsed, days remaining, weeks remaining, total to lose, total lost, still to lose, required daily loss to meet goal, current daily loss, percent done..

It also has a projection based on current loss which tells me that ...

... if I keep losing weight at (daily rate), for the remaining time of (days remaning) I will lose (total) by the 14th of October.

Right now it says I will be below my goal by then, which is pretty cool, but I have to keep on track with my loss and it doesn't take a slowdown into account.

Still, pretty cool :) Mucking around with tables and charts and things is fun!

Ahhh, a man after my own heart! It's fun tinkering around with those spreadsheets, especially when you can see a lot of progress!

Here's what I track on mine:
  1. Daily weight
  2. 5 day moving average weight
  3. Body fat percentage
  4. Resting pulse
  5. Systolic BP
  6. Diastolic BP
  7. Food Calories
  8. Food Quality (scale from 1 to 5)
  9. Exercise Time
  10. Exercise Calories
  11. NARM (Normal Activity Rate of Metabolism)
  12. Deficit or Surplus for the day

Alriiiiiight! My rowing machine turned up today, and it's currently sitting in the back of my car. I can't weight to get home and start using it, rowing is an exercise I find quite agreeable. It's a fan rower, not one of those ones with the two arms. Good timing as well, it's raining and raining here (which is awesome) so I can't go out for a walk (which is not awesome).

A rowing machine should be a good complement to your walking. I hope you are still feeling great - should be - sounds like you are really on top of everything right now. :)

Well, set up my rowing machine and put in a solid 15 minutes on it. It wasn't a lot, but it was a start. I plan to use it in the mornings, however this morning my partner set her alarm quite late and I ended up having to rush to get to work on time! Doh!

We had a full day of rain yesterday, 24 hours of non stop rain rain rain. That's the first time it's happened in ages. Fortunately it stopped about 10 pm, so I went for a longish walk, about 1.5 hours. It was mild and incredibly windy, so I really enjoyed it.

Yesterday my weight was up a bit, I had a too large dinner the night before and was feeling a bit bloated, and I was going to be happy with a weight which was the same as the day before. Instead, I got on the scales and... 111.1 kg! 244 lb! Hooray!

Thanks Felici! I'm feeling really motivated at the moment, seeing results, taking the weekly photos (which is an amazing motivator to me, I don't want any week to be a heavier week than the previous one), just getting back into good habits.

The rowing machine seems pretty easy at first but after a while my muscles were really burning! I've had exercise machines before and given up on them after a while, so I will see how I go with this. If I like it and get into good habits with it, I think I will look at hiring the next model up!
