Time to stop thinking that my diet is not THAT bad...!

Greek yogurt has a better protein to sugar ratio.

You're absolutely right! Ever since I saw how much sugar is put into stuff like Activia yoghurt I've been put right off it. I'm right in thinking that you commented on my other thread asking what my diet was? At least now you've seen it. It's basically trying to keep low carb and then ruining it on the weekends with alcohol :p

Yesterday was a lovely day! Definitely not a diet day, but still a lovely day. I bought my dress for the wedding I'm going to next weekend. I don't go shopping for clothes often, so I had help from my mum and sister. I am also now the owner of a blue fascinator. Very posh! I'm going to at least 2 more weddings next year, so it looks like I'm entering the time of my life where my new fascinator will be getting a lot of use.

The tapas food was amazing. I have absolutely no idea how many calories, as we all ordered 3 - 4 tapas each and there were 6 of us. Luckily I didn't even like the really unhealthy looking stuff because it had cheese in it, so it got me out of trying those dishes.

Here is how the very loose definition of a 'diet' looked yesterday:

Breakfast
A boiled egg, 1 rasher of bacon and mushroom
(158 calories, 2g carbs)

Lunch
A chicken tikka wrap
(450 calories 27g carbs)

Dinner - I'm going to try list everything I can remember. Each thing was about a mouthful size portion *deep breath*
A king prawn
Half a scallop
Steak tartare
Pulled pork
Asparagus on toast
A fried quail egg
Deep-fried chorizo
Salad with strawberries
1 potato with cajun sauce

(Calories - ????? Carbs ?????) Anything from 500 to 1,000 I'd say. Maybe 50g carbs. I stayed away from the bread, pasta, and cheese that was on the table.

Drinks
2 teas, 1 pint of orange squash (20 calories, 2g carbs)
A sugar free lemonade (nil, nil)
A Diet Coke (nil, nil)
2 glasses of prosecco (184 calories, 4g carbs)
2 large gin and diet tonics (200 calories, nil carbs)
1 small glass of red wine (124 calories, 4g carbs)

Total - 1,636 - 2,126 calories (best to worst case scenario) aprox 89g carbs

It's been a lovely weekend. That's really I can say :p One small victory I can have is that I went on the scales this morning. This is the first time I've been able to weigh myself in a morning since I started this thing (normally I'm at gym on an evening wearing trainers!). According to those scales I now weigh 10 stone 0.2lbs, which would be 6.8lbs lost :)

Hahaaa! The alcohol can sneak up on you for sure! I think just being aware and continuing to track it is what is ultimately the most important thing we can do!

Ok - I really need to pay more attention. I am responding from my phone and I don't think my responses are to the latest entry (it happened in Rebel's diary as well).

Nice job on the weight drop!!

You're absolutely right. I've noticed that I actually look forward to the weekdays now. I can concentrate on my diet and have some time off the social pressures of drinking on a weekend. That is definitely progress for me!

Today started REALLY well, and then went a bit meh :ack2: My mum asked me how I've been losing weight so I told her about how I've been monitoring my carbs. She got really into it and made us a lovely carb-free breakfast.

I had intended on doing a big clean of the house and a sort out in preparation for moving house. Unbeknown to me, it appears that my boyfriend and dad had a bit of a party after I went to bed last night. They polished off half a bottle of brandy between them. My boyfriend did not get out of bed until 4pm! I even tried to entice him with crumpets that had melted Mexican cheese on them, and that STILL wasn't enough for him to get up.

I ended up doing uni work all day. This is a good thing because I am drowning in it at the moment. However, it does mean that I have been sat on my bum ALL day. I'll be so glad when I finish uni and I can disappear to the gym without feeling any sort of guilt about work!

Food diary is as follows:

Breakfast
Smoked salmon and scrambled egg
(240 calories, 2g carbs)

Lunch
Chorizo, veg, tomato sauce, and brown rice
(637 calories, 44g carbs)

Dinner
1 slice of pizza
(232 calories, 26g carbs)

Snacks
1 slice of cake (all of my family were having some, and it was delicious!)
(252 calories, 28g carbs)

Drinks
2 teas, 1 pint of orange squash (20 calories, 2g carbs)
1 diet lemonade (nil)

Total - 1,381 calories, 102g carbs.

Reasonable day. Would give myself 6 out of 10 :)

You are as much of a chorizo fiend as me - love reading your food entries! Everything is better with chorizo! I feel ya on the uni front - I have spent many Sundays sat at home working when I'd rather be out having fun.. How far into the degree are you?

Haha I am glad you agree - everything certainly is better with chorizo. I can't leave it alone when it's in the fridge! I'm nearly finished with uni - just one more month to go! I'm currently doing my Legal Practice Course, which is a postgrad diploma. I've done it part-time over 2 years. How about you?

Today felt LONG. I came to work at 7.30am and didn't really have any break. I'm missing uni on Sunday because of the wedding, so my manager let me come come in early/skip my lunch break so I could take one of my classes with the full-time students. As a result, all I could think about was SUGAR to get me through the day. I don't think I have a massive sweet tooth, but by god do I love buttercream (it was another colleague's birthday...I'm ashamed to say that I have no idea whose birthday, but it didn't stop all of our team from helping ourselves to the cake...).

Food diary looked like this:

Breakfast
A boiled egg and half an avocado
(239 calories, 9g carbs)

Lunch
A chicken Caesar salad
(256 calories, 12.1g carbs)

Dinner
Chicken curry with beansprouts
(626 calories, 33g carbs)

Snacks
A slice of cake with some chocolate
(286 calories, 36g carbs)

Drinks
3 teas, 1 pint of orange squash (30 calories, 3g carbs)
1 can of Diet Coke (nil)

Total - 1,437 calories, 93.1g carbs

The figures look better than I thought they would, which is encouraging :) probably because I was fighting myself all day to stop downing a pint of lucozade to wake myself up! Would probably give myself another 6 out of 10.

Just a quick entry for today. I woke up at 4.30am this morning and my head has been BUZZING all day. Very thankful I went to the gym today, as it seems to have calmed me down and I'm ready to go to sleep. :Angel_anim:

Calories 1,599 carbs 132g. A bit high in sugar because I went after the chocolate again.

Stats -
Half an inch down on my bust.
Half an inch down on my waist.

The scales at the gym and the ones at my parent's house are not in disagreement with each other. Hooray! I can officially say that I've lost just over half a stone. Bang on target for where I wanted to be in my OP. I will not be afraid of the camera when I attend the wedding this Sunday :)

Gym went REALLY well today. The gym instructor changed the routine in Grit and I did feel a bit sick at one time...haven't felt like that when exercising in a long time! I also noticed that the 10KG weights are getting easier, so making a mental note on here to increase them by 5KG next week. When I get a chance I'm going to monitor how I'm responding to exercise more carefully, so I know what works or could be better.

This is awesome!!! Well done!

Thank you :)

Today has been super productive. I worked til 12.30 as I had booked half a day's annual leave. I went to the gym after work. I was still aching a fair bit from yesterday, but now I get to add my abs onto the list of things that ache! After that, I went to uni to work on some coursework. I got a lot done. Sorted out some documents for my house and I got home at about half 9.

I am super tired now, but it's a nice tired rather than throwing my face into the keyboard tired.

Food diary went as follows:

Breakfast
Peanut butter on toast
(203 calories, 19g carbs)

Lunch
Quorn mince with taco shells
(392 calories, 48g carbs)

Dinner
Chicken vermicelli
(424 calories, 55g carbs)
It was a bit of a treat because I ate in town as a break from uni, plus I was all by myself :nopity:

Drinks
2 teas, 1 pint of squash (20 calories, 2g carbs)
2 cans of beer (400 calories, 22g carbs)

Total - 1,466, 148g carbs

A fairly carby day, but otherwise okay. Would give myself 6.5 out of time since I made it to the gym.

Thiursday was fine. Friday can be summed up as: I am terrible with peer pressure.

The minute the sun comes up everyone wants to go out drinking. It all started when I agreed to go to the pub with colleagues at lunchtime and then it carried on with friends after work. Currently on the bus, late for uni, and with a hangover :/ I'd write down the damage if I wasn't on the bus!

Straight after uni I'm getting on a train to Derby to meet my boyfriend for his family's wedding. Looking forward to it!

Good weekend flower? How was the wedding?

It was a really good weekend thank you! :) the wedding was lovely. It was my boyfriend's family, so it was good to see that everything turned out well for them!

I've put up a quick picture of the wedding with my boyfriend. I'm super glad that I wasn't feeling self-conscious about my appearance as there were a lot of photos. One third of the way there!

It was a terrible weekend for eating and drinking - no doubt about it. Did my measurements and there has been no change. Went on the scales and I've lost a quarter of a pound. Tiny amount, but still there haha!

Today was okay. I've been waking up really early in the morning with heart palpitations for the last few weeks. Today was one of those of days, and I've felt a bit unwell with it. Still, eating and drinking was okay and I made it to the gym. Got a lot of organising for completion on the house for Friday, so I get the feeling that I will probably be a bit distracted this week.

Well done on the weight loss so far!! You and your BF are adorable!!!

I eat pretty low carb too, just add a few in on exercise days. Have you tried coconut yogurt?? It's super low carb, I usually add nut butter or LSA to get a little bit of protein in. I think it tastes like cream! I'm a bit funny about plain dairy yogurt though, just tastes like straight sour cream to me. Bleh!

Aww thank you!

No I haven't eaten coconut yoghurt. I am very intrigued though! Normally I get the cheapest natural yoghurt I can get my hands on, which I have to admit is quite bitter. Usually end up making it sweeter with banana, which probably ruins the point of low carb haha!

Today went okay. I was at work early so I could attend the uni workshop I missed last Sunday. This marks my last EVER day of uni!!! :hurray: Now I just have to do the exams and coursework...

Food diary went as follows:

Breakfast
2 sausages and a bit of hummus (310 calories, 3g carbs)

Lunch
2 sausages with chopped tomato and veg (408 calories, 15g carbs)

Dinner
Honey and mustard chicken with a small portion of pasta and beansprouts (723 calories, 63g carbs)

Snacks
A small slice of cake (110 calories, 17g carbs)

Drinks
2 teas, 2 pint of orange squash (20 calories, 2g carbs)
A can of diet lemonade (nil, nil)

Total - 1,571 calories, 100g carbs

A little bit high on calories. Would probably give myself 5 out of 10.

Ahh you fell into the cake trap too. Delicious cake. I had mine with a glass of wine last night - the decadence! Photo of you and chap is lovely - you look so slim already! How much more do you want to lose? x

Ah good shout! It was a colleague's 'practice' cake for a birthday. I couldn't resist the bright colours - turquoise sponge and pink icing. Aww thank you! Think the heels help haha! I'm a pound under the 'overweight' BMI for my height, so ideally I want to lose a stone so I'm comfortably in the 'healthy' category. Will see how it goes!

Today is going to be a write-off. I'm meant to be completing on my house tomorrow. I took half a day off work for coursework but I haven't done much coursework at all. No time for the gym as I've been at the bank trying to sort out my deposit. Then we get an email telling us that our mortgage provider had randomly decided to send the full mortgage minus £20 for admin, so we need to send more money ASAP otherwise we can't complete (!!!!!) Been on the phone to both mortgage provider and solicitor trying to sort out whose fault it was because someone should have told us, and naturally they're blaming each other. Uuugh! Can feel myself wanting a gin and tonic (or 5) when I finally get some work done...

I have received official confirmation that I am now a homeowner! :D the sellers are moving out today, so hopefully we'll receieve the keys today.

Yesterday went as follows:

Breakfast
Peanut butter on toast
(203 calories, 19g carbs)

Lunch
Chicken salad and salasa
(350 calories, 10g carbs)

Dinner
Chicken and prawn with noodles
(424 calories, 39g carbs)

Snacks
Frozen yoghurt
(250 calories, 50g carbs)

Drinks
2 teas, 2 pints of orange squash (20 calories, 2g carbs)
1 diet coke (nil)
2 cans of beer (200 calories, 22 carbs)

Total - 1,647 calories, 142g carbs

A bit high in all things! Probably 4 out of 10. Still, I am in a MUCH better mood today. I made it to the gym before work and now I know I have a house I feel a lot more relaxed.
